There's also a difference between making a joke as a comedian and making a public statement as a candidate running for office.

Mr. Aikin's comment about pregnancy and rape may be incorrect, misguided, and wrong, but at least he isn't joking about it. Mr. Franken is as wrong as Mr. Aiken. Period.

I'd say Akin's was worse, because it implies that Akin is collossally stupid on the topic of rape while having power on a committee for Science.

With Franken, you can question his sense of humor. With Akin, you have to question either his sanity or his education.
