Where's the progress? Where are the Green Jobs? Why the lay-offs? This has been a colossal rip off of the American taxpayer by Obama's crony capitalist buddies, and a total failure of progressive pseudo-religious green energy dogma.

I'll tell you where the progress could have been- coal, shale oil, natural gas, off- shore drilling, pipelines, oil rigs, nuclear reactors, and some alternative energy experimental projects.
But, instead, we got buckets of Obama fail, bankruptcy, lay-offs, and high gas prices. He's going to be fired because he earned it.

Indeed. The US is infinitely bigger than California.

    You need a new line.

DonGlock, says "invalid link" when I try to quote you.

The failure rate is < 1%.

The transition away from fossil fuels is inevitable. Why resist?

New technologies need good science, time and money (lots of money) to develop. All you people making a mountain out of a few million $ molehill shouldn't complain when the us gets left sitting on the sidewalk.

It has nothing to do with needing them, it has to do with throwing money at them eventhough they fail. Wake the (*)(*)(*)(*) up.

He was a two term Governor......with Executive Experience.....who had worked in the Private Market....

........you elected a Community Organizer who never ran so much as a lemonade stand.....who has lived the life of a parasite, never once stepping foot in the private market/real world.

    You really need a link?

Is your house heated, cooled, powered by fossil fuels or nuclear energy?

Are you pumping gas into your vehicles?

....then Barack Obama and The Democrat Party oppose 95% of the energy your currently using.

Through research, they have discovered that there is no cure for cancer because cancer isn't a single disease. They have already discovered cures for many types of cancers. When they take a wrong turn in cancer research, it leads to new avenues and new ways of thinking. Not so with green energy, and even if it was, Obama is the last person to judge the worth of any commercial enterprise.

Green energy was a way to throw money at campaign contributors and campaign bundlers. I don't think any discerning person would think that any of these green energy boondoggles would ever work. If Obama thought they would work, why did he subsidize manufacturing, installation, and operation of these awful schemes? Because he knew they couldn't succeed on their own merit. Why is he risking a trade war with China over solar panels? If Obama wanted to wreck the Chinese economy, then all he would need to do is end all subsidies to all green energy products.

So *now* politics as usual is a problem for you because (you perceive) the cronies (recipients) to be in green energy?

You cons don't want to talk about publicly funded campaigns so I guess you reap what you sow. Your ilk keeps saying something about free speech isn't free unless it's paid for by the millions. And insisting that corporations are people too. Not us.

Tell me this, are there any circumstances under which you would support public finding of green energy advancement? Or is "green" just the new boogeyman for the right?

Prove it. Five companies failed that received a total of $813m in public funds. $813m is < 1% of $90b.

But hey bankruptcy is just part of the process according to mittens!

    5? Hardly.

That's over $3 Billion without having all the numbers.

Taking your link at face value, it's just over $2 billion which is roughly a 2.25% failure rate. Yes, a smashing success.

And these "failures" are not complete losses either. A123 is still making batteries for GM and many other manufacturers. They will survive, we just don't know what they will look like going forward.

Alternative energy is expected to double in 2013 to a $4.4b industry and that's just the beginning.

Why oppose this? Any reasonable mind sees that "because 2.25% of those funds are going through bankruptcy" is not a valid reason. Especially given what's at stake (ending our dependence on fossill fuels). So why the opposition?

Failure is more than just bankruptcy. Failure can be seen at every gas pump in America. Failure can been seen at every closed coal fired power plant in America.

Remember, you are jousting with many of the champions of GW Bush's idiotic wars that cost 100 times more than whatever Obama has spent trying to propel US energy policy into the 21st century via these renewable energy projects....If any one of them hits, it will pay for itself 1000s of times over....Those unnecessary wars on the other hand, had no upside except for the benifit of crony war profiteers who all got fat chunks of cash as a result of them, and a downside of death destruction and waste unparalelled in modern times....Go figger.

What you see at the gas pump is a symptom if what is wrong now. Not a symptom of a 2.25% failure rate of public investment in the future.

Gas prices are way up due to the colusion and extreme price gouging being perpetrated on the US public by the major oil companies who have had a feild day in profits while their customer base here in America gets porked in the ass by them.....There is absolutely no shortage of oil either foreign or domestic...I am sure that the last thing these greedy ********s want is to lower prices now which would be good for Obama...Romney is their boy!!

BTW: The POTUS does not set oil prices, oil execs do....But they are the heros of the GOP voters...Hmmmm
