http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2012/4766 After having read the article, and if what it says is true about the file format being used to transmit voting data from the counties to the state I have some very serious concerns. They mention CSV files as the format to use, which stands for Comma Separated Values for anyone who may not know (we're not all tech junkies on these sites,) which are basically just plain text files with commas used to keep columns of data separated. It goes on to state that each county needs to determine it's security policy and procedures, and rightfully notes that many counties do not have their own in house IT departments, which means that security or the lack thereof will vary wildly from county to county. This whole shebang is ripe for vote manipulation, regardless of party. Who needs to have mickey mouse registered to vote, when you can just have someone run a program to randomly swap vote fields in a non-secure file format? I was originally approaching several articles on the web that seemed to show vote flipping as just another conspiracy theory, but after looking at this and talking to some people I think it may not be so much of a theory as a reality.
Here we go again. They have had four years to fix any problems with voteing, including absentee ballots for military members, and yet it is the same old problems every election. Makes one wonder if the powers that be want it fixed.
What I find astounding is that the level of sophistication in the design of these files is about grade school level. For the millions being spent on these machines, they should be bullet proof.
And now, after attempts at voter purges, and other schenanigans in Florida, they are just resorting to "glitches", or you know, out right stealing the vote: http://americablog.com/2012/11/computer-glitch-votes-black-florida-county-election-fraud.html Nothing Acorn may or may not have done compares to the blatant voter fixing that the Republicans are resorting to at this stage. Love how republicans have said that Voter ID laws are supposed to prevent fraud, unless they just change the numbers to what ever they want then it's ok.
