Or is it still against the Law to pump your own gas in New Jersey? The epitome of Liberal Bureaucratic Red Tape....

Well at least you can still pump your fists......

Have you noticed the absence of long lines at the Windmill and Solar Panel Stores......and yet thousands and thousands of Liberals lined up waiting to buy Fossil Fuels......Ironic.

Guess what? Only two states have lower gasoline taxes than New Jersey, so gas is cheaper than most of the rest of the country. It's a real pleasure to be comfortable in the the car and have an attendant fill the tank without having to pay more. That's the way it works, I have driven through all of the lower 48 and in all cases you have to pay more to have an attendant fill it. A tax on the disabled. Mind your own business, this a well run state with a competent government unlike some the 'red' sates. We'll run our state the way WE want to!

Does surprise me that you have a problem with state sovereignity. Why don't you create a federal law banning this type of service, just like you want to create a federal law banning states from allowing gays to marry? (DOMA)

I didn't realize there was anywhere left that a station actually pumped your gas. Very cool.

Yeah here and Oregon I believe. It's actually against the law to pump your own here but most stations will let you if you really want to under normal circumstances. Right now though since gas is tight the Governor has said no self pumping, keep people in their cars to try to to prevent some issues of drivers getting rowdy. The oil companies don't like the no self serve law of course, but studies have shown prices just go up for full service in states that allow self serv so we are unwilling to change.

Is that the way it works? Do those certified Pump operators work for free or something?

Hey if you dont want to pump your gas but pump your fists.....thats fine.....but why imprison people who dare to pump their own gas?

States can do what they want......that doesnt mean we should turn a blind eye to Liberalism going full retard.

I dont have to rely on Government to pump my own gas.......but it appears thats not the case for all people.

Jersey banned pumping your own gas for 1 reason They wanted an easy why to create jobs. Now a lot of immigrants get these low paying jobs.

The way they sold it to the public is by claiming that gasoline is dangerous and can explode and the last thing you want is some guy smoking a cigarette lighting up the gasoline and blowing up the gas station. They claimed you need professional handling gasoline. Much the same way truck drivers have haz mat licenses.

Full serve is pretty much extinct here at any price. If you do find the odd station it is 20 cents a gallon more and all they do is pump the gas. I was a high school kid during the oil embargo working in a filling station. We started out as full serve, then had something called "mini-serv" where we only pumped the gas.

What did you just make that up?

Bull, the law was passed in 1949.

Oh and our Republican Governor Chris Christie says “People in New Jersey love the idea that they got somebody to pump their gas,” Christie says.
The subject of self-serve verses full-service at the gas pump is fiercely debated in New Jersey. Greg from Freehold took the chance to set the issue before Governor Chris Christie on Thursday night’s edition of Ask the Governor.

Greg called in to ask, “Can you get that put that on the ballot next year some time so that we can decide for ourselves wheather or not we can pump our own gas?”

Christie’s answer was immediate and definitive.

“Never going to happen,” Christie said.

The governor says there’s no interest in either political camp to pursue the matter, adding that he gets his head handed to him when he goes out and talks about this.

“People in New Jersey love the idea that they got somebody to pump their gas,” Christie says. “They just love it.”

Like hell it is, otherwise you'd allow the federal government to extend the same rights in terms of taxes and estates to gay married couples.

Leave it to you to take a positive and turn it into a negative. Must be nice going through life being doom and gloom.

You're a real genius! Mind your own business this is our state and it's one of the best run states in the union. Just ask our Republican Governor.

    Serious question,

If these persons are not certified (in some manner) by the state, then what grounds does the state have for mandating no self service?

How does the state justify determining that these folks are better suited to pump gas than anyone else?

It's based on that it has been shown in the states with self serve that price does not drop but just goes up if you want full service. NJ has some of the lowest prices in nation for gas and full service. We got that one right lol

Again, look at what Chris Christie said! It's the will of the people! Or do you have a problem with that?
