I want logical, thought out answers, not insults, propaganda or any BS. How did a conservative in America manage to lose to such a loser as Obama??? is it possible the elections are as rigged here as they were in Saddam's Iraq, or are we much smarter and uncapable to be fooled like that?
Well I voted for Romney but didn't really care as long as we kept the House, which we did. The next four years are going to be horrible no matter which guy we put in there. Romney was not all that different policy wise and the upcoming issues facing our nation really have a limited set of options to choose from. Its not like Romney could take us in an entirely new direction.
Simply put, because the majority of the people didn't adopt the delusional thinking nor believe the vitriolic and fear mongering propaganda spewed by the likes of Faux News, Limpaw, and Coulter, but looked at the REALITY of President Obama's accomplishments and his character and compared it with the arrogance and detatchment of Romney the android. Because the so-called Republican party of today is a zchizophrenic mixture of fairly reasonable, center Right people having been highjacked by the extremist tea party and hyper religious biggots with a collective borderline personality disorder.
*Question that's obviously going to incite propaganda/BS* "Now I want answers not based on propaganda or BS!" Seriously though, phrasing is key If you want an impartial answer ask an impartial question. Most Americans describe themselves as Conservative on economics. Of course, they still want their medicare payments, but at least that's a start. I think the real problem was that most Americans are liberal on economic and social policy. Romney just wasn't convincing enough on the economics, and had the usual Republican handicap in his social policy. Combined the two created a narrow loss.
A "narrow loss" of 206 to 332 electoral votes? And all this time I thought that a "narrow loss" would be in the neighborhood of 265 to 273!
One big part of the answer. The Obama campaign was well planned and brilliantly executed. The Romney campaign wasn't. It didn't look like they had a plan and were just making it up as they went along.
well, if you want logical, thought out answers then you should have asked a logical, thought out question. The minute you call Obama a 'loser' is the minute you put yourself in the 'imbecile' category and when you suggest elections were rigged, as they were in Iraq, you fall deeper into 'retarded' category.. Loser Obama: Born out of modest means (not a spoiled rich kid), with an absent father, who had to work hard to move up in life Attended Harvard Law After graduating, instead of going into wallstreet or taking another lucrative job to make $$, he took a job as a community organizer for a church-based community organization where he helped setting up job training programs, college preparatory tutoring program He took a job at a law firm specilizing in civil rights litigation and neighborhood economic development He then taught at Chicago Law School for 12 years.. (where he made 32k/year) He was involved in various other community efforts where he served on the board or director of organizations He was able to make his $$ on investments and book deals but started with virtually nothing He gave his nobel peace prize $$ away to charities He became US senator So what a loser of a guy, a man from modest means who got himself into harvard, devoted much of his time to help the community (at the expense of much higher salaries in lucrative firms), tought at a college (making nothing), ultimately achieved the american dream. compare to Romney. Now i think Romney is a decent guy and even reasonable and moderate but he was born a rich kid, with a millionaire dad who had political ties. Unlike Obama, he had it made as soon as he was born. Now i think his missions as a mormon were great but it doesn't take away from his rich kid upbringing. He went into business where he had a succeful career in private equity (the epitome of wall street). Now, his private equuty ventures were succesful and credit to him but overall, his private equity business didn't create more jobs than it eliminated and it was just big $$ making, wall street stuff... nothing wrong with this but i like Obama's drive to sacrifice $$ early on to try and give to the community better (no question that Obama could've most likley made millions more if he had opted to take lucrative jobs early on). Now Romney made a fortune and has given to charity which is admirable but comparing the two, i think Obama's story is more compelling. so yeah, he's a loser.... no question that Obama is nothing short of a great great American who is more than worthy of being president of the United States. He has been made out to be a socialist/big government, business ignorant president by the extreme right wingers pushing forth toxic propaganda. Obama has never been for bigger government, just 'better' government, he hasn't been against the private sector (he wants to cut taxes on small business and bailed out banks), he is not a proponent of class warfare (just asks the millionares to go back to same rates which existed under Clinton since we have such a debt/defecit problem) and his healthcare bill has been demonized and sold as a government takeover without any merit (private healthcare system has a been TOTAL failure and he at least tried to fix it when no prior president has done anything). Let's also not underestimate the conservatiev WHITE america who has demonized him even more purely based on race (yes racism) as they fear he represents the future of america they are afrain of - a more diverse America where whites are not the majority. So, by all reasonable, moderate accounts, Obama is simply a great man and we are lucky to have him as president. Mitt Romney would've been okay but there are others out there that are not even good enough to wipe Obama's shoes. Looking at the possible candidates for 2016, i see no better alternatives out there. On repubican side, who? Paul Ryan (polarized policies), Rubio (young latino who has unimpressive credentials). On the democratic side, who? Hillary? Biden? again, we should feel good about having Obama in office. Of course we have a list of others not worth mentioning (palin, bachman?) As a decmocrat, i think i would like Jeb Bush to run for the republican side. He is pretty moderate and reasonable but i think the right wingers controlling the party would probably not allow it or make it hard
Maybe Romney reminded too many people of a Wall Street investment bank CEO. Not really the best image for a political candidate to wear post 2008 meltdown. Of course that image did have a little help from the Democrats' broad stroked portrayal of "The Rich" as greedy, oppressive, manipulative, white dominated, racist power mongers who lie at the root of every social malady. A bit of an exaggeration perhaps but effectively persuasive to a large number of people. That tact proved much more effective than trying to convince the masses that Obama hates the US and would gladly turn it into a Soviet Union type of socioeconomic failure as a socially just retribution for America's negative racial history. If we had an objective news media that wasn't deliberately yet subtly amplifying these caricatures, perhaps all of us would have had a better sense of who these people really are, what their actual goals entail, and what all of that implies to our future as a nation.
yep, well put... millions voted based on mischaracterization of the candidates by media and politicians
Republicans voted for Romney because of all the bad (*)(*)(*)(*) they heard about Obama, and democrats voted for Obama because of all the bad (*)(*)(*)(*) they heard about or from Romney.
Conservatives like to say that "America is a 'center right' country". I'm not so sure of that. Millions of Americans say they are "conservative" but I really question it from a social values standpoint. There used to be the saying that a conservative is a "liberal with a teenage daughter". I think the problem is that modern American conservatives are "conservatives, but with homosexual friends they want treated the same as everyone. With a daughter who has sex with every boy she dates but who her parents do not want her to have to get married or forgo college if she gets pregnant, and a son who does drinks a lot but they don't want to see arrested"
