Good for pelosi, the GOP thugs keep defending big oil and their corporate cronies that are abusing loopholes to pay nothing in taxes, and big oil doesn't need a dime in government handouts. It's time to eliminate both :applause:

The spending was already decided on for the year with the fiscal cliff talks, but if Republicans think they can push for more, well..., I think turn about is fair play.

Republicans want to hold the debt ceiling hostage for spending cuts, so I'm all for the Democrats countering with additional tax rates.

"We’re talking about looking at the Tax Code, closing loopholes and special subsidies for Big Oil – that’s $38 billion right there"

Seems more like it's about trying to reform, than raise more taxes.

Stopping the cronies from abusing tax loop holes is "raising taxes on the poor, poor, rich people!" in the GOP's minds,...

What a concept, asking for more revenue to deal with a huge deficit!!! And so typically and dishonestly Republican to pretend that the 0.00001% of the problem caused by waste is significant!!

Breaking ... !!! This is Breaking.
This is now a Democrat pattern.Just Double Down on anything Republicans
say. That has been the Modus Operanti of Obama, first anf foremost and
particularly those in his charge like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
Mitch McConnell said this Morning repeatedly that The Tax issue is done with.
No more tax fight. It's been resolved. It's all about spending.
That was all it took for American Filth like Nancy Pelosi to run to the
podium and issue her new ultimatum .... That there will be More Taxes.
This is How the country is being Micro managed to it's peril.
Democrats are basically calling out Republicans, especially and in
particular whenever a Republican in leadership { Mitch McConnell } makes
any statement on national TV [ Meet the Press } regarding agenda.
The Agenda of Obama and Reid and Pelosi is to Demonize any Republican
and double down on anything they find credible.
Thereby sending off in CODE for the MSM to further Demonize and
    Propagandize via the State-run Lamestream.
    This is now a Given.
The Country is being run as if by a Russian KGB.
    Americans are being Puppet-manipulated.

What a concept, cutting spending to deal with a huge deficit! Oh wait, typically dishonest Democrats aren't suggesting that, are they? But at least they type in fruity purple colors.

Democrats are also knocking out Charitable deductions. How EVIL is that.
Imagine a Party { Democrats } gleefully proud of the fact they are responsible
for taking out certain charitable deductions. That means Hurt for all those
relying on charities for Food, clothing and shelter. For assistance.
    How low can Democrats go.
    Obviously never low enough.

It was just a few weeks ago that Boehner was trying to close loopholes to raise revenues, and Obama told him no way.

And the bill that "saved" us from the fiscal cliff was chock full of loopholes for business interests courtesy of the Democratic Senate.

    Hypocrite much?

It's common knowledge, but those on the right aren't well known for being informed

The American Coalition for Ethanol estimates that when combined with state and local government aid to large oil companies, subsidies amount to anywhere from $133.8 billion to $280.8 billion annually from all sources of taxpayer aid that goes to the oil and gas industry.

AND, stating hooey from an ethanol council means nothing.
Show me federal govt links documenting "subsidies to big oil companies".

You'd be the first that could prove it to me.

    1. Local, state government protection services -- $36.8 billion to $51.8, billion annual (historical estimate)
    2. Federal, state, local spending on transportation infrastructure -- $48.8 billion to $151.9 billion annual (historical estimate)

You're confused...he wanted both rates and deductions. Boehner mistakenly thought he could get by on deductions alone.

Isn't what matters in the end the effective tax rate? So what effective tax rate is Obama shooting for? If the effective rate he wants is lower then the 36% or whatever the top marginal rate was then deductions and credits alone could have done it.

I don't recall Obama showing any interest in deductions during the fiscal cliff negotiations. If he did, he apparently got over it considering the deductions that were in the fiscal cliff deal.

No, they're just offering to spend our nation into bankruptcy. Elections have consequences, and the consequence of electing socialists like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi is economic ruin.
