"White" history as a concept is not only moronic but oxymoronic too, since general history is largely written about white kings, queens, presidents, and the great and good or bad, anyway. The reason President Obama is historically significant is not that he is black, per se, but that he's not white. What does being "proud of your lineage" even mean? Your relatives, however lowly are better than anyones' because they're yours? A long string of miscreants, paupers, and dispossessed, the poor, tired and huddled masses yearning to break free, shagged each other, resulting in your birth, and this is somehow a cause for pride? it would be laughable if it wasn't so pitiable.

If I start a TV network and call it the White Entertainment Network it would take only a few minutes for the ACLU, NAACP, or some lawyer to file a discrimination suit because I did not include all races and ethnicities in my network. we both know that is what would happen. it did not happen with BET because of white guilt and political correctness. that was, and is, wrong. either we are all equal or we are not, there is no middle ground.

Black Unity was helpful to Black people during the struggles post slavery. Black Power/Pride/Entitlement was seemingly borne off of the loss of leaders and the unwillingness to accept Malcolm X's conversion to a more peaceful state when dealing with race relations. This led to the rise of the more radical factions of black movements where the true existence of Black unity (people use to have bricks thrown at them to go to school) to the buzz word Black power/pride/etc. Black Pride nowadays literally means nothing...it's a bandaid on a problem created externally and exacerbated internally. If Black pride really existed 90% of the problems with Black America would fade away in a generation. (*)(*)(*)(*) Pride. We need unity.

There are a LOT of issues that exist because of those in power attempting to keep the black population as second class citizens... A lot of what you complain about was borne off of your ancestors efforts to subjugate a newly freed people. So it may be wrong, sure, I probably agree with you there (between you and me I hate BET as it spreads ignorance and bull(*)(*)(*)(*) that I think is detrimental to black America) but considering the fact that a black man playing baseball, or kissing a white woman, or even staring in a movie were seen as great strides should explain, to some degree, why such a station exists. Hell, even in porn, an industry that is by definition filthy, a woman is seen as tainted if she has sex with a black man. And that's in 2013.

Black History college courses tend to explain more about the struggles of blacks in America beyond the "There was slavery, it sucked, but it ended, but in some states only in the south because the north is cool there were some bad laws for a while but that ended to thanks in part to MLK Jr. The End."
