That's how the framers did it. Worked out pretty good.

This body is corrupt. People can STILL vote for the people they believe can best lead. There are smart qualified people who want nothing to do with the corruption of washington. You think congress represents the best and brightest the US has to offer? Those in congress with very little exception are the least qualified to lead. They are corrupted. Flush out this cancer and hire real leaders. Focus on economists and mathematicians as good candidate choices.

So you hate the Tea Party because you're afraid that some of them might be Christians?

I'm a TPer and a Christian and I don't think the earth is 6,000 years old.

Tea Party leadership is almost entirely fundamentalist Christian. I do have a problem with that.

    That's not true.

One does not HAVE to be a Christian to understand that the borrow and spend orgy going on in Washington has to stop.

They shouldn't have, because standing firm and thrusting this nation into default is (*)(*)(*)(*)ing stupid. You don't understand, saying that they didn't cave is dumb. They shouldn't have begun this exercise in stupidity in the first place.

The tea party isn't gaining momentum, no matter what you think. Look at the polls, they've lost all but EXTREMISTS support. There's nothing left. The nation has turned against them, and Ted Cruz is too stupid to realize it, so he keeps running his mouth

Obama was more willing to destroy the economy for the sake of his pet program than establishment republicans, aka RINO's, were to end ObamaCare.

Tea Party Republicans initiated this phony crisis, they are completely responsible. I hope the voters remember that in 2014.

How can you say that? Are you so uneducated that you don't realize other countries have done this same thing with success? There have been states (mass, hawaii) that have been doing something close and have had no problems? What do you base your "Obama is willing to destroy the economy" crap off of? Where do you get this information? How will it destroy the economy?

While you say he was more than willing to destroy the economy, you're just making (*)(*)(*)(*) up. Cause if he was willing to do it, the Tea Party Republicans were actually making it happen. You have no leg to stand on, your argument is old and tired. Lay it to rest.

They might not even have to wait that long. The election last night showed that repubs can and will start losing. If they try it again...never know when things might pop up.

You are not dealing with reality.

Obama was proudly saying the economy can go to hell unless his pet program is fully funded.

You're not dealing with reality. The Teapubs were proudly saying "the economy can go to hell unless we get our way."

You're no more "right" than I am, despite you trying to say you are, both parties wanted (*)(*)(*)(*) out of this. The only difference is that Obamacare has gone through every single step in becoming a law. It is now law, so it must be dealt with. The Teapubs were holding the Government hostage in a last ditch effort to make it crash and burn....and it didn't. They got their ass handed to them by the dems and their own party. Like it or not, those are the facts.

That should be an easy citation.
    Please provide it.

It is common knowledge and does not require a citation. That you ask for one means you are deliberately wasting peoples time, or are terribly unencumbered by educational prerequisites to engage in this debate.

A few factually incorrect articles that fail to dig up even 1 instance where a debt ceiling increase has been tied to a major policy concession.

Good news is that it's not just a laughing matter anymore - moderates, liberals, and even conservatives are rearing to pass the national holiday "Play pinada with a Tea Party member" day.

If this is so common, make the citation and prove me to be the moron you suggest I am.
Or admit that you are making up something he never said.
    Avoiding it isn't an argument.

The Tea Partyers claim the Shutdown was NOT their idea.....and yet admit it was a "surrender" on THEIR part when it was ended?

    Something doesn't add up...does it???

It doesn't scare the pants off anyone, because there are only handfull of Tea Party senators, and only 40some Tea Party Congressional reps...and they got handed their hats lately, and the approval polls for the Tea Party are somewhere between Obama and the congress, in the low 20's.

So far it's alll talk. And if the Tea Party did gain a majority in the house and senate, what makes you sure they wouldn't fall into the same traps that everyone else in Washington falls into? I'm skeptical that they are some magical new breed.

I hope they are, only without the whole evangelical slant.

When is the last time American workers got good news as a whole? We didn't level the playing field, it leveled us. Nobody is going to pay top dollar for products coming from over-regulated American companies when they can get the same thing only made in China, at Target/WalMart, for half the price?

Republicans have a lot of work to do before the next election, they will be desperate for voters to forget about the shutdown. They will find some new diversion, their base constituency is easily distracted.
