No Germany defeated Europe in WWII except for Britain because Hitler didn't know how to cross the English Channel. As for the USSR, it survived because of our lend lease program. Have you ever heard if this?

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

By late 1941 there was a visible surge of support in America for the Soviet war effort and a growing respect for the sacrifice and determination of the Soviet people. The country was formally added to the Lend-Lease list in November 1941 and became the second largest recipient (after the British Commonwealth) of munitions and other materials valued at $11.3 billion. About a quarter of this aid was in the form of munitions and 75 percent consisted of industrial equipment, raw materials and food.

Well, if you support Zionism, then you are virtually against the entire planet, including your own population.

Americans believe the Jews have just as much right to have their own 'national' state as do every other people in the world..and that's what Zionism means, a national state for the Jews.

We also don't believe that the Muslims have any more right to Jerusalem than anyone else, or for that matter to any land in the Middle East. Uhhh! Have you noticed the ethnic cleansing of Christians which has been going on these past years, not to mention the cultural destruction of churches as well? Well it's not the Jews doing it. But then again why would you care, it's been going for fourteen hundred years. Kind of a tradition in that part of the world now isn't it

You're sounding like a caveman. Can I recommend Google Translate? It's a great free product that came out of America's capitalist economy:

    google.com/translate

Type what you want in Russian, and it'll spit out the English translation.

Введите то, что вы хотите по-русски, и он будет выплевывать перевод на английский язык.

    See?

If the USSR was strong enough, why did they collapse? It was because of their communist economy. We didn't attack you. Communism have never worked, and never will. Are you a communist?

    Thanks. I get that a lot :)

Okay, I'll admit that most major inventions are made from a variety of people from multiple countries. However, I'll explain my reasoning for each of these.
First, Henry Ford was who I was thinking of when he built the Model T, the first car an ordinary man could afford. He also invent the much more efficient fordist-style production method.

Benz's car, by contrast, was literally called a "Horseless Carriage", and was extremely expensive and, as the name implies, not very powerful.

As for modern American cars, I'm not gonna lie, they aren't that great compared to foreign competition. We had to turn General Motors into Government Motors! But much of the reason why Japanese cars are so great is because of American invention. For example, GPS was American

In American English, we call it an airplane :p, and considering we invented it, I figure we have right to name it whatever we want!

The telephone was patented by Alexander Graham Bell - a Scotsman educated in the UK and Canada - merely resident in the USA when he took out the patent.

This was probably because he liked our patent laws. Nonetheless, there was a reason why he came here, and profited because of it. Our laws allowed and encouraged him to pursue his inventions.

Okay, here you are correct. Sorry.

One could argue, however, that the transistor, which is the basis for computers, is up there as most important in the 20th century, which also is American, and also radio.

Most people would say that it was a conglomeration of the US government and mostly American private enterprise. Or you could by the theory it was Al Gore. Here's an article on it:
    http://www.govtech.com/e-government/Who-Invented-the-Internet.html

I wasn't so much trying to prove American supremacy, more to prove Western
supremacy to some of the Ex-Soviets on this site who doubt the way we see economics. I think we can agree that all of these inventions we have discussed were the product of western innovation.

Good post, and we agree on much. I was genuine with my compliments - you post very well with an excellent command of the language - and I was not being in any way codescending. I began posting on political fora when I was 12, and had to put up with a lot of guff about being a 'kid', so I would not knowingly do that to anyone else.

I take your point about western development, but the point I was making was really not specifically directed at you. There is a tendency amongst an alarming number of Americans to claim supremacy in all things for your society - and the claims you made are the ones most often repeated.

But to be fair to what you term 'the Ex-Soviets' on this site - the USSR developed a much higher level of (mainly military) technology than anyone in the west had suspected. For example the Sukhoi Su-27 came as a great shock to the west when we first encountered it in the metal. Its derivatives are still in the forefront of aviation development.

While we are all affected to some degree by the propaganda put out by our respective societies (not necessarily our governments - societal influence is much more significant than governmental) things are not quite so black and white in RL.

You are a young American, it is natural that your world view will be largely dependent upon that of those surrounding you (particularly those to whom you look up,) and yours is a more than somewhat nationalistic society. So the only thing I find surprising about your posted views is the moderation with which you express them - your posts are much more reasonable than many Americans decades older than you - and I congratulate you for that. I have lived four years longer than you (and possibly travelled a bit more), and have had a little more time to evaluate the world, but I am aware that my own views cannot help but be affected by the society in which I have grown up. So I do not consider that I have all the answers, and am happy to learn from someone such as yourself.

But I am an European, with a different history, and different societal values from you (as an American,) so it seems to me that we both need to work at it if we are to better understand each other. E.g: I do not consider various mechanisms of social justice (government pansions, UHC, unemployment benefits, etc.) to constitute Socialism in the classical sense, nor does anyone else in my society. So if you and I were to discuss those matters, we would need to make a considerable effort to understand exactly what the other means.

And to end on a slightly controversial note - there is no such language as American English. To what you are referring is a dialect of the English language. Have fun with that.

because the Russians that you know are in fact Jews.
for instance, in the USA they call 'Russians' those Jews who populate Brighton Beach area.

Well maybe not quite civilized but owned by one despotic dictator anyhow. One who was oppressing his own people and in Iraq's case in violation of various UNSC Chapter Seven Resolutions and flagrantly screwing up his last chance to abide by them. Syria and Libya were the result of a revolution aided by the Gulf States and much of the world begging the US to help out.

not at all, for in fact the USSR was a very successful economy, given the circumstances in which it had to exist from the beginning. USSR built factories, schools, hospitals, theatres and many more. USSR invented and advanced space technologie's along with payment-free education and healthcare and so on... but it has been destroyed only because some traitors among Soviet bureaucrats wanted to become like some West tycoons and participate in West corruption to launder the money they obtained after they grabbed the Socialist property from Soviet peoples.

Well, the US faces more threats in one day than most countries worry about in a decade.

That snazzy graph might even be close to the numbers!

    a pack of lies, that.
to say 'revolution aided by the Gulf States' would be the same as say - a robbery aided by the USA.

true dictators rule the United Arabian Emirates that USA get along with pretty well because they support the Islamic Terrorism invented by the CIA to hold the world in chaos and poberty and fear. Saddam Hussein had made Iraq a prosperous country civilized enough to counteract Islam Terrorism, as for colonel Gaddafi - his Lybia was another Scandinavia built in the Middle East, only without enormous taxes they have in Sweden and Norway.

the evidence is that the USA destroys every successful country or economy. Egypt for example, a well-off resort area, has been made into a mess only because USA grudged its wealth.

Ah, you have hit upon something here. It is not capitalism that is the problem, it is the folks of non-capitalist countries, using capitalism to steal from an unprepared economy (one which is not a capitalist economy). Why? Because it's easy...Give your people the freedom, and free speech to oppose being screwed, not so easy.

This video doesn't say why Khruschev was alienated by Pres. Eisenhower, the following individual testimonies do though. Here is the official document by the U.S. government revealing Khruschev's crimes in the Ukraine before, during and after WWII. The atrocities are unbelievable. Here are some excerpts, read and weep.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"...Although Khrushchev may today properly assess against Stalin the basic decision that there was to be a mass starvation in Ukraine, Khrushchev cannot obliterate the historical fact that he was actually the perpetrator of the details of this man-made famine; that he, Khrushchev, was the one who carried out the basic policy of Stalin pursuant to which millions of human beings were deprived knowingly, premeditatedly, of the food which they themselves had raised. Khrushchev cannot disassociate himself from the blood and misery of this awful epoch in the history of Ukraine, in which he directly, actively, and knowingly participated as chief engineer of the policy announced by his then chief, Stalin...."

"...I should like, specially, to illustrate the methods of terror which were applied at that time. To those members of the Ukrainian resistance movement who were caught, as well as their families, the NKVD and KGB applied the following measures of terror:

With hot irons they tortured those prisoners who were caught.

They cut into the skin and tore the skin off from the living body.

They also nailed people on the cross.

They cut off the sexual organs, and breasts of women.

They cut out eyes, broke bones in legs and arms and extracted nails..."

"...Let us look at the economic. In 1945-46, Khrushchev organized another, small, man-made famine in Ukraine. About this famine the Western World knows almost nothing. There were no reports in the Western press about this.

In 1945, the Ukrainian peasantry was methodically robbed of its grain - of bread. This can definitely be interpreted as an attempt to undercut the national substance and existence of the Ukrainian population.

Mr. Arens. - Am I clear in my interpretation of your testimony that you are describing another famine in Ukraine perpetrated by Khrushchev subsequent to the great famine in the thirties?

Professor Wowchuk. - Actually this was a third famine organized in Ukraine. The first one was in 1921, the second was in 1933, and the third was in 1945-46..."

A prosperous nation doesn't kill three hundred thousand of it's own people and have every tenth person working as an informant for the regime

Benevolent leader killed demonstrators who had no connections with armed factions. The myth of 'peoples support' is just that. Assad is a dictator through and through.

no they did not kill there own people, at least neither Iraq nor Lybia or Syria or Egypt did, but if under 'own people' you mean terrorists or criminals, then it is the USA that has the highest rate of inmates and the longest prison terms in the world, for those who only tried to avoid enourmous taxation there's a jail term of about up to 60 years (!) so should we invade the USA now?!

    Jews are a religious group.

The "Jewish people" is a recent invention of crazy Zionists who believe that their personal tribal God gave them the right to ethnically cleans Palestine from its native Semitic population and create a "Jewish state" for migrants on the stolen Palestinian land.

If Americans believed in the human rights of native people, then they would not tolerate the robbery of Palestinian land .

They would help the Palestinians to get the stolen land back and create a Palestinian state in Palestine, because Palestinians have the right to to have their own national state on their own land.
