"Noah sailed past Jacob to become the most popular baby name for boys in 2013" http://www.myfoxny.com/story/25473503/baby-names-noah-ends-jacobs-14-year-run-at-top What's up with that? Is Christianity making a comeback?
What!? People with no imagination use the same name for their kids and you think that means christianity is making a "comeback" ? Was it gone? What has a name got to do with it???
YAH already said that HE, YAH, would not destroy the world again with WATER, and gave us a rainbow as a sign of that decision. YAH destroyed the world once with water, and re-started the generations of men with Noah and his sons. But, the world quickly became evil again, to the degree that YAH would either destroy it by FIRE, or save it through love for His own creation - and mistake. He chose love. He sent his word by which he created all things, in the flesh, born of a woman, human. His word made flesh paid the price for the work of his hands. Frankly, I believe that the Holy Spirit of YAH was YAHya the Baptist made flesh. The holy Spirit of YAH "moved" upon the face of the deep and inspired YAH to say "Let there be light". So, if Yahushua , the word of YAH made flesh, paid for the work of the hands of YAH - us evil humans - on the cross. Then YAHya the holy Spirit of YAH made flesh, surely paid the price for inspiring YAH to say "let there be light". Yahushua was nailed to the cross by his hands, and YAHya was beheaded, which is where inspiration starts. So, I believe that the holy Spirit of YAH paid for moving and inspiring the mind of YAH. Yahushua paid for everything from "Let........." ,to the end of the world. Yahushua, whom was born of a woman, said of YAHya, "there is no greater man that was ever born of a woman that is greater than YAHya"............... And YAHya said of Yahushua, "I must decrease, and Yahushua must increase". Now, back on track as to Noah, Yahushua said " it will be like the days of Noah in the end days" Time for judgment. Yahushua stands between the water from the first flood, and the fire of the end It amazes me that Christians think so little of the sacrifice of YAHya the Baptist. I guess they don't understand. YAHya the Baptist was the "only" human ever born that was already indwelled by the Holy Spirit of YAH. In fact, he Baptized Yahushua and the Holy Spirit was sent like a landing dove. And when that happened, the voice of the Father, YAH, was heard to say "this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased". So, just because his word word made flesh was standing there, YAH still spoke. I WONDER HOW WE HUMANS TREATED "HIM"?
You seemed to think people naming their kids Noah had something to do with christianity..... your OP did.
I named my son after an angel, but I don't believe in angels. I named my daughter after a Celtic goddess, but I don't believe in pagan gods. I don't think this is indicative of much of anything except that the current fad is for that name.
So an April 2014 movie caused name changes throughout 2013? Well, I'm not saying it can't happen, what with marketing and so on, but it might have needed explicit mention. I see no mention of the movie in your post, nor in the link you gave, so I certainly didn't make that connection.
My kids' middle names are "Faith" and "Grace", even though I'm an agnostic. Names don't always mean the obvious.
That's only because the name in the original story (Utnapishtim) is really awkward. The name predates Christianity and I would say has nothing to do with it.
I saw on Facebook the other day where this bimbo got a tatt of a selfie she took of herself. Immediately after seeing that, I started construction on an ark.
I would NOT name my kid "Noah", because he'd be named after a fictional character so he'd have to endure endless taunts by those who don't believe in fairy tales such as "hey, Noah, where'd ya get the kangaroos from? [Snicker]" Instead, name him "Moses", or "David". [Edit: wait, those two ordered the killing of thousands of innocent people because they heard voices in their heads, so scratch that! What was I thinking!? Or name him "Jesus".....but that SOB accepted the worst moral crime of all - slavery, so THAT won't work either if you want to make a moral child-naming decision. Ok, it's "Richard" (Dawkins) for my boy....that role model is too smart and too moral to tell people that he has an invisible friend in the sky who will punish you for not believing in him.] It takes real courage to not fall for their scary fairy tales. Are you courageous?
Umm, Michael, John, Paul, Mathew, Anthony, Andrew, Thomas, Mark etc. . .these are Christian names. Noah isn't a Christian name. . .his name and story is pre-Christ. Arya is a rising name over the last two years also, thanks to Game of Thrones.
If by 'Christian' you mean 'Jewish, modified over time to fit differing linguistics'. The name 'Michael' appears in the Torah. There was a Jewish king named John Hyrcanus, and a Jewish priest named Matthew ben Yohanen. And so on. Not that Christendom is averse to taking prevailing traditions and altering them slightly to fit their purposes.
If you're concerned about your son being taunted because of his name, then "Dick" might not be the best choice.
Especially if my last name was "Johnson" or "Harry" or "Long" or "Small" or "Head" (all of which are fairly common last names.)
