Don't mean to really, call people out, but I have always wondered.....

Why is the GOP controlled house so defiant to EVERY proposition by the Democrats

Lets not forget, things like Single Payer health care and cutting down the military were Republican proposals for the longest time. Which makes me wonder, why the sudden shift in political stances? I have read a lot of congressional research reports, and nearly everyone is in favor of Democratic policies. Polls, just the same. On average, for every issue, 2/3rds of Americans agree with the Democrats.

So, why do they oppose the will of the majority? Why do they gerrymander the hell out of liberals states? What are they afraid of? I'll tell you what there afraid of...........

    Fading into Obscurity

That leads to another question. Why do Americans keep voting for them? Its quite obvious..... they put on a sham party for you!!! They throw around broken terminology like...

" The democrats want SOCIALISM....... :omg:"

" The liberals are wimpy cowards"

" The democrats are a bunch of hippies :hippie:"

    " The liberals kill babies"

    And their greatest sham.....

" They want to take away our liberty"

Is it not yet obvious? They use these little phrases to trick people into supporting their cause....

    corporate-welfare.jpg

Using politics to get filthy rich. I wish I could simplify the right wing easily for you guys. Do you know the opposite of socialism, which means spreading the wealth evenly? Capitalism, which in practicality, is pushing the wealth to the top. The truth is, America can't survive without both. We need balance. The extreme right and the extreme left, aren't that different.

All the right wing, is, and will ever be, is politics in favor of corporate interests. Yes, American is a place where corporations come first. Its the reason why they trick you, so that the few rich bastards of the republican party can continue to rule by corporate interests.

    CorporateWelfare.jpg

    121023400CorporateWelfareRecipients-1.jpg

This is their strategy. To take the money that belongs to the American people, and lining it in the 1%'s pockets. Honestly, how can you support a party that condemns welfare, but passes bills that put billions of government USD into farm subsidies for Tyson?

The welfare argument is a sham. Do you know what we call people in Detroit, who engage in this kind of tactic?

Now, If you don't mind, please back up your assertion on how I provoked you. Or anyone for that matter......

    "Why the opposition, GOP?"

If that isn't sarcastic and goading, I don't know what is. All you did was spew liberal talking points about the opposing party without even backing your opinions up with any facts or links.

First, your contention that single payer healthcare was a Republican idea. Wrong. Hillary Clinton was behind the first ever attempt at a single payer system in the US, starting in 1993.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton_health_care_plan_of_1993

Second, your contention that Republicans are 'fading into obscurity'. Wrong again. They hold governorships in 30 states plus Guam and Puerto Rico.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_United_States_governors

Third, your contention that Republicans use politics to 'get rich.' It is common knowledge that Democrats routinely outraise and outspend Republicans in elections. And more multimillionaires reside in the Democratic Party than the Republican party.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...outspend-conservatives-in-2013-races/3495983/

    http://www.ijreview.com/2014/02/116...p-donors-agree-democrat-party-new-party-rich/

And yeah, Welfare was passed by Roosevelt under the Social Security Act of 1935. Republicans are against Welfare because it subsidizes laziness, it doesn't put people to work, and it is part of $700 billion in annual spending. That is nearly $200 billion more than our defense budget, mister.

Maybe you need to not juddge sarcasm over the internet. Who's in control of the house? Who's been named the most ineffective congress in history? Bills have been flowing from the Senate (Popular ones), but where do they get turned down? GOP controlled house.

Actually, your wrong. Single payer healthcare was a Republican grassroots movement up until Obama's presidency. Do you know which politician was its biggest advocate in the 90's? Bush :roflol:

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/...pported-an-Individual-Mandate-Until-Obama-Did

    Also false.....

    1. Republicans are not a party in Puerto Rico

    2. They gerrymander the $hit out of the system

    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-republicans-rig-the-game-20131111

    3. Guam's GOP party is separate from the mainland, with no connection

False, False, False. Campaigning has nothing to do with my contention.

Please defend why 100's of billions go into GOP supported corporate welfare (83% of the country is against corporate subsidies), but they wont allow 10 billion to uplift everyone from poverty in a year?

Good point. Why do we spend 700 billion on our millitary, but not 10 billion on our people :nana:

As for welfare, we are actually spending 50% more on GOP supported subsidies to the rich than to our already short food supply. I'm not opposed to welfare, but why is it all going to the 1%. The GOP wants to get rid of UI benefits to the poor, but keep them for millionaires? Huh :confusion:

LOL, new I see, it works pretty good here actually.

To the OP's question that is what opposition parties do IMO. If they agreed with the party in charge, why would anyone vote for them?

Its called the thin line between wanting to make a country better, and establishing a voting bloc for the sole reason of keeping power.

Opposition parties don't fight in a lot of countries. Why here?

So the Liberals are once again talking of single payer health care. You do know we have 47% of the population that aren't paying any Federal taxes. That puts the whole burden on the 53% that do. Then the Libs want to make 11 million illegals, citizens. How many of them do you think will fall under the government poverty line and also not pay any Federal taxes? But come April 15th will be eligible to get hundreds or thousands of dollars back, depending on how many kids they have. Does this administration want to fix our illegal problem so we don't have millions more sneaking in here and asking for citizenship later? Well no they don't. Many don't want to fix the system at all.

Republicans have never been big supporters of cutting the military. They have agreed to do so, because they know to get this debt down, there can be no sacred cows. We need to cut some from most every place. Which is unlike Democrats that just keep wanting to put on more and more give aways. They want to tax more and ad more and more regulations which hurts business and job creation.

Get a little tired of the Libs talk about how the Republicans support the rich. The rich in this country are Democrats, not Republicans. There are more rich Democrats in Congress and in the U.S.

Those “Evil, Rich People” – are Democrats
I always wondered about that. I mean most of those millionaires in Hollywood are Democrats. Many of your top athletes are Black and we know most are Democrats. Some of Obama's biggest donors are filthy rich. Most of the millionaires in Congress are Democrats. So I went to look it up and what do you know, most of the rich are Democrats.

Image: Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison – Democrats)

From the, “you never hear about that from the media” file – Those “Evil, Rich People” that Democrats are always wailing about are actually – Democrats.

Well I am not a member of the grand ole party or the democrats. I just answered to stay on topic. I honestly do not believe either parties leadership cares about anything but maintaining power. They work as team, their main appeal is the dislike of the other party IMO.

Likely because most other countries have more than two parties. If they tried these games another party would take their place. The duopoly makes that not a threat and allows the dog and pony show to continue IMO.

I think there are three groups of people in politics.....

    1. People who want personal gain

    2. People who care

    3. People who want personal gain and care

Plato made a argument about why a man would rule in the Republic. I might have to dig through it again, and get back to you

The two party system in this country is the problem honestly. Most countries have either one dominant party, two parties, or three parties that revolve. One party systems that are democratic are ideal, but fail to represent minorities.

Two part systems are a back and forth tug of war. Third party systems make all parties competitive and liable, but causes even more vicious fighting. Honestly, there is no ideal system. My actual concern though, is how the US has laws that restrict third parties from participating at the same level in politics. For example, presidential and congressional debates are restricted.

Your entire argument falls with your premise. The 50% tax thing is a blatant GOP lie. Or actually, half truth (If even that)....

How are Democrats going to make the country better? By giving more giveaways? Plunging us deeper and deeper in debt? Allowing more and more illegals to swarm into this country to get some of those give aways?

Do you realize the things we can't pay for? We just released over 40,000 illegal prisoners, some of them murders on the American people because we can no longer afford to keep them in jail and don't have the money to deport them. The VA are letting veterans die because they haven't got enough money and personal to fund it right. Government owes hospitals and private business billions.

Still here is Obama talking about helping out students pay their college loans. Nice idea, but where does the money come from?

Yes, I am sure there are many Americans out there that love Democrats and approve of their policies. When your offered more and more giveaways, who wouldn't like that idea? But there are no free lunches, someone has to pay, or in our case, we'll just borrow more from China and Japan and dump it on our children and grand children. It's already up to 11 trillion in debt.

No lie. While they like to point out that people do pay things like payroll tax, if your under the poverty line all that tax comes back to you. They also like to point out that they pay a Federal gas tax, but that tax has to be used on roads and bridges. It couldn't be used to pay health care. There are also other federal taxes paid, like taxes on your phone and cable bills. But again they go to support certain departments within the Federal government. State and local taxes go to pay the bills of state, country and cities. Your talking of having the government pay for a national health care program that would depend on a Federal Income tax and 47% of the population isn't paying that. We can't come close to paying what we owe now, how in the world are we expected to pay for it?

I see you've started another thread where you hammer away at the conservatives and neoconservatives using facts and history, while they parrot back right wing rhetoric coupled with the GOP’s talking points and bald-faced lies.

People of reason understand you have taken on an insurmountable task, but also want you to keep up the good work.

Sadly, democracies with three (or more) viable political parties tend to serve the minority. Hitler came no where near to being elected by a majority, and we all now where that led.

Though our country believes it has two political parties, both are heavily influenced (bought off) by the very, very rich and Big Business. This has been the case for well over a century, but has become a severe problem since the 1970s.

The voters are given limited choices by the special interests, because only certain candidates receive financing. Given the money spent in elections, the “regular guy”, sincere in his want to make America great once again, suffers attacks from both sides and is quickly defeated.

The “hope and change” voters wanted during the 2008 campaign, has remained “business as usual” as the average Americans continue to fall behind while the top 0.01% watch their wealth grow exponentially. This was the stated goal of the G“NO”P after the 2008 election, with their promise to “make Obama fail”, and his fellow Democrats have done little to fight the G“NO”P’s efforts.

For one, you guys lie constantly. You put up a picture claiming that only 1% of the population is on AFDC (whatever that is) and compares it to "corporate welfare" (which no one really defends anyway), to suggest that not many people are on welfare. But as of 2011, according to the census bureau, there were more people receiving some form of I government benefits than there were people working full time. If you are honest, people are less likely to have a knee-jerk reaction to oppose whatever you come up with.

If you replaced care with power I could agree in as a general assumption. I feel very few leaders in either party actually care about the average citizens.

Plato had many good quotes I can only guess you may be referring to this one
I have seen it translated many different ways but that was the first I found

I agree no perfect system exist. I forget who said "the perfect system of govt is a beneovolent dictatorship with me as the leader" I paraphrased from memory but that is close.

I believe a party has to get 5% of the vote in a presidential election to get equal access. The Libertarian party got 1% last time the most ever by them and I believe a actual third party. Ross Perot got the most as a independent which is the first and last time I voted actually. The fact that over 40% of Americans identify as independents makes me assume most of us have just give up hope. Since the two parties still have no serious challenge from outside.

    Finally, someone talking some sense!

This whole two party malarkey probably causes us as a country more trouble than almost anything else.
And while there are a number of factors that cause it,
I personally place the majority of the blame on our silly plurality (first past the post) election methods.

Such a voting system basically gives the middle finger to any third party that even thinks about running, especially on the national level.
And while I understand that a perfect election system such as ranked pairs may be difficult for many voters to understand,
I just do not understand why we cannot at least have something like Instant Run-off in which a third party might at least have a fair shot at winning.

What will it take to wake Americans up and convince them to change our stupid antiquated system of voting?

Well, Obama is pretty into subsidies and bailouts. More so than conservatives are. The left seems to think it's OK so long as a bank isn't getting the subsidies, as if Bush's bank bailout wasn't pushed by the Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, but the difference between the banks and GM is pretty negligible. If anything, the banks are more necessary to a functioning economy than GM is.

What, third party groups? Which I belong to. In defense of the democrats though...........

Benghazi lacks proof, and if your referring to healthcare, then I ask you to show me how its a lie

Really? While the Democrats were helplessly pushing immigration reform through the house, the republican party was funding 100's of billions of dollars in subsidies to oil companies and share cropping farms

Did you not see how fallacious what you just said is, in correlation to your argument? The 1% is receiving 5 times the corporate welfare than the poor and needy. The right wing has the wrong idea of who's sucking on governments teet.
