Agreed mostly, The cartels would just push another product, however pot legalization would cripple some drug cartels.

Also agreed. Unless they are counting the arrests from part as part of the crime rate from before its legalization.

The right doesn't seem to have a problem with the abomination of hypocrisy, and that can be worse than even a crack addiction. So, why should anyone take them seriously about potential, seed bearing plants.

As a political scientist (I love quantitative analysis) I am curious to see the numbers. The model I'm going to run will also include the increase/decrease for hospital visits (but that variable will depend on whether the visit was rooted in the use of cannabis).

Yes, ending the drug war should be a no-brainer for fiscally responsible, elected representatives.

Alleged conservatives are worse for wanting to deny and disparage our privileges and immunities at every turn in the name of the subjective value of morals, while decrying the sad state of Individual Liberty.

    Not true. See: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/18/health/driving-under-the-influence-of-marijuana.html?_r=0

    1) Alcohol affects motor skills far more so than pot.
    2) Alcohol impaired drivers aren't able to judge their speed and so tend to drive faster. Pot has a natural tendency to make you paranoid, so if anything, a pot smoker will be driving far more slowly.
    3) Drinking is far more a social activity, whereas pot is generally smoked at home by the user.

Because the more expensive weed he can smoke in front of a cop with a smile. The cheap stuff if he gets caught with he goes to jail.
    See bootlegging.

Only the right doesn't seem to recognize the value of our Tax dollars while claiming to be more fiscally responsible. Pot taxes can help fund pubilc transportation as well.

same with alcohol, you can tie it up anyway you want, but you support prohibition, we do not

prohibition supports terrorism... seems like a high price to pay cause you don't want someone to get high....

While I support legalization, attributing the crime drop wholly to this act is a mistake. Crime in general, on the long trend, has been dropping quickly, though I'm sure that this at least reduced the crime rate, since having it is no longer a crime.

Only the right likes to deny and disparage Individual Liberty through the coercive use of force of the State while claiming we can wage a war on drugs and lower taxes. How fiscally responsible is that.

And, I am planning on buying a vaporizer.

Notice how the only ones who suggest marijuana be legalized are the people who smoke it?

Lets see, states spending less money throwing potheads in jail.

States taking in more income from pot, which might lessen the burden on tax payers.

Mexican drug cartels will take a hit in the pocket book, from the legalization of weed.

Ending the moronic prohibition of a plant that is no worse than booze which is legalized.

Ya, I can see how moral crusaders have a strong case too keep weed illegal.

I don't smoke dope, can't stand the smell.
    I find the prohibition idiotic.

Drinking isn't too swift, either. Why does anybody need to use any of that garbage?

No, sounds like I got some common sense. Maybe you should take a big ol' hit of it yourself.

I mean, at least with alcohol, you can drink responsibly; unfortunately, most don't seem to. But responsible pot smoking???

Why not? The "intoxicating" effects are much worse with a drug like alcohol. There is no such thing as overdosing with pot.
