This round earth thing, is nothing but a Greek conspiracy:

    Wikipedia:

"...and although the idea cannot reliably be ascribed to Pythagoras, it may, nevertheless have been formulated in the Pythagorean school in the 5th century BC although some disagree. After the 5th century BC, no Greek writer of repute thought the world was anything but round..."

"...Plato also taught his students that Earth was a sphere though he offered no justifications. "My conviction is that the earth is a round body in the centre of the heavens, and therefore has no need of air or of any similar force to be a support".

"...Aristotle observed "there are stars seen in Egypt and Cyprus which are not seen in the northerly regions." Since this could only happen on a curved surface, he too believed Earth was a sphere "of no great size, for otherwise the effect of so slight a change of place would not be quickly apparent..."

"...Aristotle provided physical and observational arguments supporting the idea of a spherical Earth: Every portion of the Earth tends toward the center until by compression and convergence they form a sphere. Travelers going south see southern constellations rise higher above the horizon; and The shadow of Earth on the Moon during a lunar eclipse is round..."

"...Eratosthenes, a Greek astronomer from Hellenistic Libya (276–194 BC), estimated Earth's circumference around 240 BC. He had heard that in Syene the Sun was directly overhead at the summer solstice whereas in Alexandria it still cast a shadow. Using the differing angles the shadows made as the basis of his trigonometric calculations he estimated a circumference of around 250,000 stades. The length of a 'stade' is not precisely known, but Eratosthenes' figure only has an error of around five to fifteen percent.

Eratosthenes used rough estimates and round numbers, but depending on the length of the stadion, his result is within a margin of between 2% and 20% of the actual meridional circumference, 40,008 kilometres (24,860 mi). Note that Eratosthenes could only measure the circumference of the Earth by assuming that the distance to the Sun is so great that the rays of sunlight are essentially parallel..."

"...Strabo (c. 64 BC – 24 AD), who suggested that the spherical shape of the Earth was probably known to seafarers around the Mediterranean Sea since at least the time of Homer, citing a line from the Odyssey as indicating that the poet Homer knew of this as early as the 7th or 8th century BC.

Strabo cited various phenomena observed at sea as suggesting that the Earth was spherical. He observed that elevated lights or areas of land were visible to sailors at greater distances than those less elevated, and stated that the curvature of the sea was obviously responsible for this..."

"...Ptolemy also devised and provided instructions on how to create maps both of the whole inhabited world (oikoumenè) and of the Roman provinces. In the second part of the Geographia, he provided the necessary topographic lists, and captions for the maps. His oikoumenè spanned 180 degrees of longitude from the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean to China, and about 81 degrees of latitude from the Arctic to the East Indies and deep into Africa. Ptolemy was well aware that he knew about only a quarter of the globe..."

the best "proof" that the bible is false is that the book says the world is flat, It doesn't matter what you people say he's brainwashed by the ultimate book, the bible. Nothing you say nor any evidence you present will convince him the bible is wrong, and therefore evolution is real, adam and eve is false, nobody ever lived inside a whale, walked on water, or talked to a burning bush.

you guys are wasting your time, your better off convincing him god isn't real and convert him to atheism........the argument will take less time and he won't be a "flat earther" anymore once jesus is out of the picture

dont need a video, all you need is a calculator. Gravity crushes things into a sphere For something to be the size of earth an be flat is simply impossible
You can also fly around the sphere in an airplane until you get back to where you started to see it for yourself. You'll notice you didnt fall over the edge. If you are still skeptical. I find that hilarious.

You found ONE video in which the earth appears to be flat (due to the use of a mild fisheye lens) and that is more proof than all the other videos/photos around that show the opposite?

Have you ever heard of Occam's Razor?

I'm going to pretend that the OP is serious here and ask how he accounts for his own video showing the delineation between sky and earth changing from convex to concave as the camera rolls up and down?

Exactly, the curvature is pretty clear, in the time period around 3:00 and 4:23.

How are 11 minutes of watching the horizon supposed to convince me that the earth is flat?

You will have faith in your own eyes, but not in your brain.

    Less TV and more books.

Yes, the problem is that people read too much and have his own criteria.
If you know a bit, a TV is a private company that just want profit, if martians, alquaeda or jesus christ increase stupified audiencie that will appear in TV for increase profits.
I dont know about you, but when I buy a book, I search previously information about book and author, and dont buy a "best seller" just academic or scientific books.

I don't think you honestly believe that.

    I don't think you're even a real Free Mason.

    I think you like pretending.

You're right. It's only one of the dumbest statements to ever be said.

What you think of my Masonic affiliation matters not because I know how little you know of Freemasonry.

I've been a Master Mason for 8 years, 10 months, 4 days now. I've enjoyed my time which is why I've continued to stay and have joined the various appendant/concordant/side orders of Freemasonry.

Sounds like a complete waste of 8 years.

Look how little you've improved as a person over that time.

I mean, you wait around on PF to antagonize and terrorize (troll) some anonymous "tin foiler" for his belief that the earth is flat.

I'm pretty sure the Freemasons don't need you to do this.

Plus, because you're a Freemason (allegedly) you already know 99% of the topics I discuss are the real deal, dude.

Its possible I know more about your club than you do. It certainly seems that way, which is why I don't believe you are one.
