What causes more deaths: guns or abortions?

What about an active brain? Does that indicate life? At twelve weeks a fetus' brain waves can be detected by an electroencephalogram. Let's see, we have a carbon based organism, a neurological system, and a brain that shows brain waves. I think that qualifies as "living".

It is a cruel world. It's broken by sin, ever since the fall of Adam. Jesus broke the curse. He knew you before you were in the womb. If you believe we have souls, you may believe there is a God. If you believe there's a God, you may believe He came to us as a person to reveal Himself and His plan for saving us from this temporarily broken world.

Life does begin at conception. It can begin no other way. We use brain function as a standard for end of life decisions. I understand it, and I think we go to great lengths to preserve life, as our laws confirm. Terminating a pregnancy is not preserving life, unless you use convenience as the standard. That's a pretty low standard for such a highly morally conscious decision as having an abortion.

 

I would like to know where you got your information about this time line of what a fetus is at 10 weeks. Not a generic "just look it up" but an actual link that I can click. No, a heart beat doesn't mean something is alive, it means that somethings heart is still beating, like when you cut a fishs head off and its heart is still beating, or Mike the headless chicken... The heart is a muscle that doesn't need to be controlled, it's soft muscle with an automatic response, so no, that doesn't mean "life". Or... if that's your argument, what about pulling the plug on a brain dead person in a hospital? Their heart is still beating, and their brain activity in many cases isn't gone, it's just very low. Many people have actually woken up after being classified as "brain dead". So, the automatic responses that a body has does not classify it as alive. The ability to react to stimuli is what makes someone alive plain and simple. Even doctors who are against abortion know, and acknowledge that fact which is why there is a time frame set, and no one who knows what their talking about argues it. The amount of lies and crap on a lot of family doctors webpages, and random blogs is beyond comprehension. The sad reality is that people believe that stuff instead of reading an actual scientific study on the facts...

Also, one of the key things to take away from abortion is that if you give the fetus too many rights, the mother, carrier, whatever she will be called for discussions sake, her rights start to go away. In the end, it's her body, and when do we get to start telling people that their rights are no longer valid?

An answer to the original question, abortions take a lot more life off the table when compared to firearms, a lot more. The last bit of information compiled by the FBI was for 2013, and in their report firearms were used in the murders of 8454 people. I'm pretty sure that there were many times more abortions than that.
