    Hummmm
    http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/business/2015/09/08/macys-store-closings/71896348/

So, one of the most revered upscale retailers is closing stores & opening new ones at a 52:12 ratio over 5 years and in one year they're shuttering 35-40 stores. Kinda hard to believe after they dumped Trump. I mean, you'd think lib's would be crawling over themselves to shop there and show they're support. Guess not.
But anyway, 35-40 stores is a big number for one year, over half the total number they've closed over the past 5 years. That can't be good. Lots of people will lose jobs and leave large emnty black holes in the malls where these stores were, hurting other retailers in the mall. Sad to see. I only shop at Mayc's during X-mas, but after the dumb Trump dump, I probably wouldn't have this year. Regardless, I hate seeing any business decline at the rate they seem to be. They're stocks down 20%.

Severing ties with racists or people who make racists comments is just good business practice.

You don't get brownie points for it because kicking racists to the curb is what normal upstanding people do.

My wife worked at Macy's in the ATL area for a little while. She hated it because there was hardly any customers there. The managers had unrealistic quota's the sales associates were supposed to make. Not possible when you don't have people coming through the door. I don't think this is just a Macy's issue. The internet and quick delivery has really put a dent in stores who hold a lot of floor space. See Circuit City, etc..

Seriously though, you make sense. Business must keep up with the times.
Couple that with a crappy economy and you can expect more of the same.

    Their support?

I couldn't tell you the last time I shopped Macy 's.

And yes, anti-Trumpsters should be showing their support.

What racist comments did Trump make?

Edit: Here is how the left twists things to turn fiction into truth:

    1. Mission Accomplished
    2. I can see Russia from my house
    3. Trump made racist comments

If I can order from Macy's online and get free shipping, why would I need to go to a store? The only Macys worth going to is Herald Square 34th Street anyway. That's a great
meet-up place when hooking up with friends in the city due to its location and you can probably fit all the other Macys stores into that one.

Don't worry about it. You've heard them; you just don't think those comments are racist.

Macy's is a liberal Company?? Well i got egg on my face.
When i think liberal major retailers I'm thinking Whole foods http://fortune.com/2011/05/18/5-reasons-why-its-great-to-work-at-whole-foods/ and Costco http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/19/reasons-love-costco_n_4275774.html.

both here start at $18 an hour, an guess where all there employees shop. No Store closings for them.
I don't think Macy's employees even get payed unless they make commission..i dunno never worked there.
    That's just me though...
To me Macy's has always been one to advertise what they want people to think what they do for there store locations local community...rather then actually do anything but underpay an overcharge...An look what happens when your own people cant even shop there...Stay in major city's, that's there niche.

It's the same as anything else.. business models have to adapt to the technology that comes available, and the larger businesses are often the slowest to adapt. The one exception to this seems to be Wal-Mart. If the FFA ever approves drones for commercial use, watch these types of stores go away even more.

They're beginning to find out that when the top 100 or so families in the country are the only ones that can afford to go " upscale", it's just not that profitable for a large concern like theirs anymore.

I'm actually not sure if trump is one because it could all just be an act, but he did make racist comments.

What's real racism in your perspective?

What does that have to do with my post? They could easily use them for delivery.

Actually now that i go back and read it...nothing.
I still couldn't fathom the logistics of it though. My mind set was on jobs lost due to machines an robots (in your instance truckers an fright)..but you said no such thing. :salute:

The logistics of it wouldn't be too hard, actually.

In a simple sense, the company you do the purchasing from could send a very small landing platform that the drone could land, and drop off the merchandise.. This would really only work with very small packages, and apartment complexes would have to have a designated area for these types of deliveries, and then the tenant could pick it up from the main office. At homes, it could be setup in a yard or back deck or something similar. With today's technology it would be easy for drones to avoid trees, power lines, etc to make the delivery. The thing about the jobs lost due to machines it is has been happening since the industrial age began, and it will continue, unless we regress our own technology, which will be to our own collective detriment. What has to happen is people actually adapting to technology, and learning how to install and repair the technology that automates our lives.

People have less disposable income to buy retail in these times we are in.
    It's pretty sad, really.

    Ha, good screw Macy's.

Trump spoke about how illegal immigration is a source of importing rapsits and murderers which is 100% true.

Liberals tried to pretend what Trump really said was "all Brown peolpe rape and kill".

Macy's jumped on the bandwagon to bash Trump.

Any entity that stupid will eventually fail and Macy's is learning how they are not the exception.

    From the article:
I read that as "We close some stores and open others when the local government gives us a payoff to come there for a period of time as part of economic development spending."

LOL at the Macy's "Dump Trump" agenda. He and the CEO of the company are personal friends and business associates, and thousands of Macy's customer's cut up their store's credit cards after Macy's announced it was not going to be affiliated with the Trump run for the Presidency. As for "The Donald" - he continues to laugh all the way to the bank, and the top of the political opinion polls in America. Macy's is history.............
