Jeanette, Assad is a secular ruler, and he did allow Christians, Sunnis, etc, to live in the country in peace. No one can accuse him of persecuting on religious grounds. But what he didn't tolerate was dissent. He has always suppressed dissent, and this time was no different. I'm not going to argue whether Assad is a good guy or a bad guy. I don't care. Because, like I said, this was a Syrian matter, and it wasn't the business of outside powers.

And if Russia wants to try to hold Syria together, Russia is in for a long, long struggle against a population that doesn't want to be governed by Assad.

I hear that US forces are setting up shop in Syria - as if things there aren't dire enough as it is. :wall: :wall: Tell me it isn't true, somebody. [IMG]

Whether you like it or not, you’ve got to admit that the U.S policies in the Middle East and Libya completely failed. The USA empowered all sorts of radical Sunni groups, destroyed secular societies, enabled genocide against blacks in Libya (irony), played a big hand in ISIS creation etc…etc…As bad as it gets.

Investigation Exposes How Saudi Arabia has Been Tasking and Directly Funding CIA Black Ops
    Read more at http://thefreethoughtproject.com/sa...ia-black-ops-syria-world/#zh8PEydsVAyKXsBM.99

Wouldn’t be easier to accept responsibility for failures instead of continually trying to shift the blame onto people who are actually victims of all those American dirty dealings?
As for your claim that Syrian people don’t want Assad. Let them have the election and decide for themselves whether they want him or not. I don’t think for a second that Russians have any illusions that the whole country could be saved. However they will fight for the coastal regions and Damascus where the majority of Christians and other religious minorities is stationed. They will not allow genocide which would’ve had happened if the USA got its way.

Syria has been destroyed simply because the weak Syria suits Israel. Israelis are rubbing their hands in glee because Sunni imbeciles (there is no really any other word to describe them) have done the dirty job on their behalf. And no one can blame Israelis for Sunni Arab stupidity.

There is going to be a so called Balkanisation of Syria. Officially one country but in reality a loose confederation. Turks are bigger obstacle than Assad – they don’t want Syrian Kurds to have any say in the future of Syria. It’s the U.S/NATO responsibility to sort the Turks out.

By the way, don’t you think it’s high time that all those Sunni radicals, who are still getting support from some rogue elements within the U.S establishment, are finally thrown to the wolves? Or would you prefer to ship them safely out of Syria only to use them against Russia somewhere in Caucasus?

It's exactly how Kermit Roosevelt, CIA and MI6 overthrew Mossadeq in Iran - and they've been doing the same since, but through the deniable offices of NGOs, funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and now Soros. They want to bring down current society, so they can make us all slaves, even more so than now. Interesting times.

This is exactly why I opposed the war against Libya and the proxy war against Syria. I wanted no part of either, but my government didn't agree.

I'd be all for a free, fair election. I don't think the Assad government should administer it though. If Assad wins an election that his government administered, no one would believe it, and the war would be on.

In my model, the Alawites would get Damascus and the coastal regions. Russia's naval base would be safe.

I'm not going to agree or disagree because I can't read the minds of the Israelis. I'm pretty sure Assad is the devil they know, and ISIS at their border would not be so great either.

You're probably right. Something like how the Iraqi Kurds are autonomous and yet still technically part of Iraq. I don't think that's the best solution, as I said before. But it is probably a more likely outcome than the creation of new independent states.

What rogue elements do you mean?

I'm not interested in shipping Sunni radicals anywhere except if they're fighting for ISIS or AQ. Then I'm perfectly happy shipping them to their graves.

Well Libya wasn't a US strategy so we were only in on the play as a junior partner. That which was done in Libya.....was all on the French and Brits. We can blame Hillary as it was She, and her people that got tricked and suckered to play along. That was with Susan Rice as UN Ambassador.

But you're correct in that the US has been played, manipulated, used and abused by those in the ME. (I also think in Asia we have been outplayed)

The Repubs were making up the ground we lost from when Clinton and the Demos took over. But then the Neo Cons.....fell for the Okie doke with the Saud and Sunni Arabs.

We’re Long Overdue for Due Diligence in Defense.....

The Middle East exemplifies the problem. Instead of doubling down on its wasteful precision bombing and special operations campaign against the Islamic State, Washington should disengage its forces from the regional conflict and adopt neutrality towards all sides. Without the Turkish and Saudi intelligence organs plus Saudi and Qatari money, the Caliphate would never have risen from the ruins of al Qaeda in Iraq. This will not change because Turkey and Saudi Arabia are determined to expel Iran and its allies from Mesopotamia and the Levant.

Washington and its European NATO allies cannot stop Ankara, Riyadh, and other Sunni states from gradually sliding into war with Iran and Russia, but they can withdraw their Article 5 protective forces from Turkish territory and publicly state that Turkey is acting as a sovereign state, not as a member of NATO. It would be the gargantuan joke of the 21st century if the United States and its European allies were drawn into war against Iran and Russia on the side of the Sunni Islamists, the principle perpetrators of anti-Western terrorism and subversion for 25 years.....snip~

I do not think that is it. This elephant in the room has been banging on the door hard. What better way to put the Dem's on the defensive than to bring the facts into the open - "Obama supporting 911 Terrorists/ Islamic extremists "

Hilly was in the mix when all this started in 2011. Benghazi is important because arms were being shipped from Libya to the extremist opposition in Syria around that time.

Its not like this is some big secret:

Ron Paul on the Sunday morning CNN program "State of the Union"

    http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2...-my-son-into-that-mess-on-the-crisis-in-iraq/

Virginia Senator Thanks Syrian President Bashar Al Assad for Saving the Lives of Christians

Open Letter of U.S. Senator Richard H. Black to President Bashar al-Assad Acknowledges US Support to Terrorists

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/virgin...ad-for-saving-the-lives-of-christians/5384338

Obama was totally on the wrong side of this Syrian catastrophe. He is (at minimum) partially responsible for creation of this humanitarian crisis and subsequent refugee crisis.

Further .... Obama was knowingly arming Islamic Extremists (Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, Salafi) which then, being armed to the teeth went on to create their own Islamic state (IS) - ISIS.

There are many others that have spoken up ... but the media for the moment is silent.

Going to be very hard to keep this Elephant in the closet once the nomination process is over. Especially if Clinton is the nominee and looks to be winning.

    what?

How would they make us slaves? I think the right question would be what would they want of us? What would they want us to do? Build pyramids? How about a space elevator instead?

Yeah that's all common knowledge......but what is it you are looking for the media to say? There has been quite a bit of reporting about Syria, whether thru what Daesh does. The Sunni Rebels. Russia, the Kurds, Al Nusra, and Assad.

Uh, unless Assad has invited us into his country, I do believe that any incursion, let alone setting up a fobbit hut, would be illegal, dontcha think? Oh I forgot, we are the United States of Amerika, laws don't apply to us, only to everyone else.

If this is true, the President needs to be impeached...but we know that won't happen because most of the neocon congress supports his crime. We need to throw all these bums out...the easy way, or the hard way.

A Russian high official said that sending American boots into Syria was a publicity stunt. No one announces something and then prepares for it afterwards. The preparation always comes before it is announced. Now here's something interesting about what's going on from Moon of Alabama:

In the Kurdish area in the north-east of Syria Russian specialists are working to establish another air base. The Turkish President Erdogan said such a base would not be tolerated. But what can he do besides launching an open war against Russia which Turkey would lose just like the other 17 wars it once waged against Russia.

The U.S. is establishing its own base nearby to supply Kurdish forces. The Russian base will make sure that the U.S. base will not gain any permanence.

Erdogan blabbers a lot. He also said Turkey could over take Russia in seven days.

Reporting on what's happening in Syria has slowed. As per the mainstream media, (left, right or center) will not speak about the elephant.

None has blamed Obama for causing the Humanitarian Crisis.
None will talk about how we were funding extremists
None will talk about talk about how the "moderate rebel" lie the State Dep't and Pentagon were trying to float ... was a lie

It's kind of similar to the situation when Phil Donahue made the mistake of speaking out against the Iraq war. The dude hasn't worked since.
Years later the media was allowed to speak freely but not at the time.

Right now this elephant is one of these "unmentionable truths". Many journalists (and all that have even a remote interest in the region) know what happened. The folks in the mainstream want to keep their jobs.

I'm wondering if this elephant is going to be released as an election issue.

That's because many know that before BO peep was involved that it was the Saud. The MB, Turkey and Qatar that decided to stir the pot.

BO was involved with the Saud, Turkey and others right from the get go. This is the "elephant" :)

    http://www.judicialwatch.org/press-room/weekly-updates/the-truth-about-benghazi/

CIA was involved with Saud, Turkey and Qatar in arming and supporting the proxy war against Assad both directly and indirectly.

In 2013, after a massive humanitarian crisis was created that Obama started backside covering campaign. Dreaming up "moderate rebel" stories and so on.

Yeah we knew BO was moving weapons.....also Manpads. That which Clinton testified to and said it was State's Responsibility to secure Gadhafi's warehouses of weapons and gather up the Manpads.

Then the ManPads showed up in Syria. As well as Libyan Militia/Ansar al Sharia.

Before the CIA got involved the Saud and Qatar were sending in small arms. Turkey was housing the Sunni Rebels/Terrorists CP inside Turkey. Giving them a safe haven.

I don't care much for BO peep but he did not create the humanitarian crisis. That was created by the Sunni Arabs going after Assad and the Shia. Oh, and not just in Syria.

But you are correct that it involved the MB. It was them, that orchestrated the protests against Assad. They even sent their Golden Shield Brigade into Syria. But hey their Peaceful because they say they took a vow of Peace, Right!

I agree that Saud and Turkey were the main bad actors who were giving arms and support to the Extremist Jihadists (Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, Salafi, ISIS).

The problem is that Obama has been not only supporting these actions but contributing to them as well, right from the start of the armed insurgency in Syria if not sooner.

The whole "moderate rebel opposition" cover has been one big pile of BS in an attempt to demonize Assad and make friggen terrorists look like the good guys.

At the end of the day were have "Strict Sharia theocratic Islamic extremists (aka terrorists)" on one side, and a people that want freedom from these type of nut jobs on the other.

WTF are we doing siding with and arming the extremists ?

We hear time and time again (even from posters with kids in the Military on here) how pilots are told to stand down most of the time.

How on God's green earth can such a convoy cross the open desert and we not "make the sand glow" as Cruz put it. 553 KM over open desert !

We can't blame "civilian casualties" and we have (as is so often the case) the military making up lies to hide the truth from the US citizens.

We are/were allied with Al Qaeda, allied with the extremists, and allied with ISIS.

Then the State Department and Pentagon spin this story to whip up the fear so the 1 Trillion/year Military spend can continue unquestioned.

The Refugees in general are not running from Assad. They are running from ISIS, Al Qaeda, the Salafi's and the other extremist Sunni's and we are the allies of these group.

Well we knew BO was all hesitant when Hillary was having her friends of Syria Meeting. Soft aide was being sent and SATs to help the rebels avoid Assad's troops and or capture.

Assad is no good guy either.....with or without the US. The Saud, Turkey, and the Sunni are not going to allow the minority Shia to govern over their people in Syria.

Of course Assad is no good guy. Neither is Netanyahu if one compare's scoreboards without any context.

How is one supposed to control a region full of extremists who want to overthrow the Gov't through armed intervention ? People who think nothing of strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up in the middle of a crowd.

Better yet, what has Assad done that we havn't ? Killed a few innocents .. "Check", Tortured a few people "Check" "Used chemical weapons on few folks "Check" (Assuming Assad even did this as it now good evidence to suggest that he did not)

Which of the above was not done by Bush ?

Now compare the excuse Bush had to the one Assad has. Bush (made up lies) in the case of killing innocents and using chemical weapons.
Assad (trying to thwart armed Islamic Extremism in his own country)

If Saud and Turkey want to go at it against Syria and Iran. All the power to them !!!! Fantastic.

Why are we in there supporting the terrorist and or Islamic extremist side ?

It is high time the Kurds gain their own state. They long have been deprived of it and the have been steadfast allies to the US military. It is only right that a Kurdistan be carved out of the hulk of Syria and Iraq.

Obama and Co. helped make Libya a mess after they, (and GWB) made Syria a mess....it just took some time to explode in their faces.

I agree, all incumbents should be thrown out, but their replacements are historically NO better.

I was just about a month ago that the US pulled out of Incirlik AF Base in Turkey...after being stationed there for barely a month. Some shady reasons, etc. given by US Officials as to why. It seems the Russians may have persuaded the US to pull out, or maybe BHO ticked off the Turks.

    http://www.military.com/daily-news/...withdrawing-f15-fighter-jets-from-turkey.html

The US is well-known for not cleaning up there messes, instead they perpetuate them w/ ineffectual and misguided policies. Also, it's a well-known fact that after Qaddafi's death, the US was instrumental in shipping arms from Libya to Syria, and this continues to this day..

I think the US will concentrate on ISIS...IF we try to take out Assad, the Russians will object, and probably use Military force against us....this is how World Wars are started.

BHO had his chances to take out Assad, etc. but he was too wimpy, etc. and had the US Military follow extremely prohibitive Rules Of Engagement. Remember,, BHO said he wouldn't allow air strikes on ISIS oil trucks because, "civilians may be driving them". Also, in the first 14 months of US air strikes, the USAF flew 15,000 sorties, BUT only dropped bombs on 25% of these missions.

Does Assad stand for Freedom and the Liberty of others. When did he ever?

For some reason both the Left and the Right believe they(The ME) can be brought into the global market and that there is money to be made there.

So unfortunately the US tried to play both sides. Thinking they could get Extremists to go after each other.
