You are correct. During Operation Desert Storm carpet bombing was done around the clock against Iraqi troop concentrations in the field. I should have qualified my statement that modern pinpoint targeted weapons (ex: GBU-54 JDAM laser guided bombs) has made carpet bombing unnecessary in populated areas.

B-52s drop many more conventional bombs than those famous for carpet bombing, "cluster bombs." We need to use every military option open to us to defeat ISIS.

 

Change the narratives from:

1) Join ISIS OR die, to join ISIS AND die.

2) Give ISIS your city and be ISIS, to give ISIS your city and see it reduced to rubble.

What happens when ISIS comes to another city, after the world sees what happened to ISIS cities, future cities fight them to the death not to be ISIS.

Total unrestricted warfare is what ISIS deserves, it is what they should get. Not one single boot on the ground; clean it from space.

Actually: The 'Daisy Cutter' is designed to cause a flash fire which uses up ALL the oxygen in a 1,000 yrd dia. circle.

Also the MOAB, (sometimes called 'The Mother Of All Bombs') is an 18,000 lbs. bomb, (one site lists it as a 27,000 lb. bomb, and it is the most powerful non-nuclear ordinance) that's sitting on a sled, and pulled out of the back of the bomber using a parachute. Why did Iraq have no air defense?

 

Daisy cutters were used in Iraq to clear mine fields because of the concussive force of the blast.. If a person was unlucky enough to be in the general vicinity of the detonation they would run the risk of having internal organs burst, or on a good day only end up deaf. These are caused by thte shock wave of the explosion. They rolled out the back of a C-130, since their size wasn't practical for use on a conventional bomber aircraft.

 

Like I said, civilian leaders did not allow us to fight a war to win and allowed a few puny cowards and traitors run their policy. After Tet of 1968 the Viet Cong and NVN were decimated. Our leader, LBJ, told the military to stand down and not to advance North. You obviously know nothing of military strategy just like that Idiot LBJ. There probably is a time and place for carpet bombing - like after we've been carpet bombed. We weren't exactly carpet bombed on 9/11 but pretty close to it.

You are missing a lot of news phoebe. On just one occasion ISIS FORCED about 100 kids to convert to their brand of Islam, THEN shot the all and killed them.

You also need to recognize that Israel does not ever bomb or attack Palestinians unless the Palestinians shot first. Arabs have started every battle/war/skirmish against Israel. Since so many people in the world hate Jews, why doesn't Israel strike back with force? Like nuke Gaza, Oleppo,Tehran, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Islamabad and Karachi? Get rid of the terrorists once and for all.

Failing to win an argument could be considered planning to fail at any give war, especially on any given abstraction such as crime, drugs, poverty, and terror.

Wartime Tax rates are a requirement, in my opinion, for the justification of any perceived delegation of wartime social Powers to our legislators.

I believe this should be a requirement, to ensure we can win any given conflict, even if only through attrition. Or, be prepared to be hampered by financial considerations during a time of alleged war.
