I am reminded of that old Depeche Mode song.

I don't want to start any blasphemous rumors
But I think that god's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die, I expect to see him laughing

I think that is how it went. it was more than 30 years ago.

Anyway, according to one Missouri politician, there is a bright side of being raped, an unwanted pregnancy! Apparently, according to this lady, this is all part of gifts from a fairy that floats in a sky, bringing joy and mirth out of forcible sexual assault.

Oh, but it gets better, Apparently this is all part of his god's plan. God, and I am extrapolating form her comments, preplans these rapes in order to bestow the wonderful gift of life upon women. She has also met so many people conceived through rape.

Wow. Just when one thinks they ave heard it all, out comes this.

    http://fusion.net/story/299165/gop-lawmaker-rape-silver-lining-tila-hubrecht-abortion-missouri/

Hey ladies, listen up. Republican lawmakers want you to know that getting raped is awful and they feel really bad about it—but, if you happen to get pregnant from that horrific experience, fear not, because having your rapist’s baby is totally a “silver lining.” Um, WHAT?

On Tuesday, Missouri lawmakers were debating a legislative measure known as House Joint Resolution 98, which would give unborn fetuses the same constitutional rights as American Citizens. Of course, this measure would also essentially outlaw abortion in all cases, including cases involving rape—which some lawmakers argued was a good thing.

“It is not up to us to say ‘no, just because there was a rape, they cannot exist,” argued Republican State Rep. Tila Hubrecht during the debate. (“They” refers to unborn fetuses.) “Sometimes bad things happen—and they’re horrible things, but sometimes God can give us a silver lining through the birth of a child.”

Did you catch that? Sure, rape is bad, but a rape baby—that’s a silver lining.

Hubrecht also pointed out that she knows people born from rape, so clearly she’s an expert. “When God gives life, he does so because there’s a reason, no matter what,” she said. “I’ve met and talked with the different people who have been conceived by rape. There is a reason for their life."

isten, Hubrecht has every right to believe what she does—and if, God forbid, she ever became pregnant from rape, she would absolutely have the right to keep the baby. But not every rape survivor shares her views, and not every rape survivor wants to carry the child of her rapist. Shouldn’t they also have a right to their beliefs?

Apparently not in Missouri. The House voted 112-36 to advance the legislation, which now just needs final approval from the House before it can move on to the Missouri State Senate.

If passed, this legislation “puts Missouri in the position to be the most pro-life state in the country,” boasted Republican State Rep. Jay Barnes following the vote. Yes, he’s bragging about denying abortion rights to women of rape, incest, and molestation, as well as women who may die as a result of the pregnancy.

Is this how we make America great

I kinda get what she's saying and I'm sure it's very possible the baby could be loved by the mother. She values human life and she's defending it. With that said I don't agree with her on not aborting rape babies, this is the mother's choice and only the mother's.

But if we're going to execute the baby then how about executing the guy who did it? That seems EXTREMELY fair to me.

EXCEPT FOR the FACT that with rights comes restrictions.

NO one has the right to use another person's body to sustain their own life.

FORCING women to remain pregnant and give birth to a rapist's baby is like being raped for the rest of her life. PUNISHING the woman for being raped......like that other religion that christians claim to hate..

Force and control and hatred of women , what rapists and these lawmakers have in common....

I doubt any woman would want to look at their child and be reminded of her rapist. No issue with abortion on this one.

I can say with 100% certainty that my wife would see the child as all hers and nothing to do with the rapist. Of course I would feel differently. And my wife is not a religious fanatic, she would just see her body doing what a mother's body is supposed to do and she would do what a mother is supposed to do and love the child. In this regard my wife represents .00000001% of the people because I believe most women would act like you described.

Say what you will about Trump.....he knows this issue is a loser for Republicans...always has been.

Atleast outside their "pro-life" voting bloc, who love this stupid crap....which is the whole point of Repub state legislatures passing it....to get those gullible "pro-lifers" to the polls every other November.

I think that you are either missing the point or purposely deflecting. The issue is that the politician from the tae of Misery claims that babies conceived as a result of rape are a gift from God. And that rape of a woman is God's plan.

When I get to heaven after I ask God what the F------ was he thinking when he let my son die I will ask him what the F----- are you thinking saying that it is your dumb assed plan to have woman raped so that they can conceive a rape baby ???

God better have an answer since I do not know how long I will be around here since i already have had two types of cancer and strike out is # 3.

Up to what age do you support killing the children of rapists?

That poster NEVER said a word about killing children and your post is nothing but flamebaiting...

This is not a debate on what you think of abortion, read the damn OP.

Science and the LAW say it's a FETUS not a child that is killed in an abortion....you know, science and law the things intelligent adults use...

Anyone may comment on any post they choose....you have a lot to learn about the rules here....

NO child is killed in abortion and it's ignorant to say so...and going back to the topic it is as barbaric to force women to give birth as it is to rape her.

We don't disagree. I'm trying to understand the logic of those who claim abortion is murder yet ok in cases of rape.

I'm a right winger who believes that the legalizing of abortion was unwise. That said, the story you posted sounds like a scene from the movie, Rosemarys Baby. It is beyond my comprehension how anyone could deny an abortion for victims of rape, incest, or if the Mothers life hangs in the balance. It is religious to the point of superstitious.

OK, there is no logic in thinking one abortion is different from another. Those people are wrong....about a lot of things.

See below. Maybe you could explain how one abortion does something different from another abortion just because one was from consensual sex and the other from rape ?

Crazy, it takes two to conceive and only one to destroy, in your opinion.

But you've got a point, whatever we can do to not be held accountable for our actions, let's do that.

    - - - Updated - - -

Science also says if you rip that 26 week old clump of cells out of the mothers body, it'll live on its own.

    Do you accept science sometimes?

Plus with all the children in this country up for adoption why dont Republicans solve that problem before they jump on the unborn??? Oh I get it like most republicans they are pro life along as they do not have to deal with the child
