The color red being associated with left wing political parties goes back to the French Revolution and the left wing "revolutionist" being associated with the violence to overthrow the nobility and monarchy. The red represented the bloodshed during the time, and followed other left wing movements against nobility/monarchs throughout Europe and the world.

Not saying this article is historically correct. The source is the Smithsonian that has adopted PC revisionist history.

It does touch on what you mentioned about Europe and also the Cold War.

Blue has always been the color of the right wing conservatives, aristocrats and monarchies.

If all the nation's democrats insist on living in the same state and thus diluting their voting power then that's on them. If they want to change things then they can spread out more. Maybe if some of the bubble democrats moved into the middle of the country then they'd have a better understanding of why that part of the country doesn't vote for them.

My wife is from California and has family there. She voted for Trump but still loves her state of California. What good would it do to separate California from the rest of the country? Nobody would win that one. It's never going to actually happen but for those wishing for it to happen consider all of the issues that would come of it and how the world would look at us after it happened. Again it would be a lose/lose situation for both sides.

California is not breaking any law by being heavily Democratic. Just the same as North Dakota is not breaking the law by being heavily Republican. California actually has a lot of counties that voted for Trump and are Red. It is not even fair to include them with all of the angry left people in California. So wanting California to exit the union is just crazy.

Thank you. Your not such a bad guy after all and I apologize for the comments I made. I am still very interested in seeing your tables when they are done as I enjoy reading that stuff. You obviously put a lot of time into it so keep up the good work.

No biggie. I am really into the numbers and a stickler for exactitude, and when it comes to the numbers themselves, am pretty darned non-partisan. The numbers (aggregates) pointed to a Clinton win on November 8th, but the numbers in three states were off. The numbers in the other 48 were not. Life is sometimes like that. Nice to hear from you. I have added you to the tag-list, hope that is ok with you.

We need to change the laws. They give licenses to illegal immigrants , they encourage illegal immigration there. The Reconquista is well underway . The place has become a liberal cesspool . Again I think we should be less united and the States should have more power as intended.

The end of the Cold War did not mean the eradication of communism. Communism is still with us, just look at the "progressive" political ideology. Red is the international color of the communist party and communists.

Reality, as we have experienced it, dictates that the future is not predictable to 100% accuracy; observe that EVERYONE KNEW that Hillary would be elected. So, we can only estimate the future based on previous experience. California is a Socialist leaning state. If it became a country, it would be a Socialist leaning country. Loss of U.S. federal support and the initial confusion with such a severe change might swing it to total socialism because I just can't see the mindset that would cause them to secede suddenly snapping them into a total Capitalist Democracy. And, given what usually happens in other Socialist countries, I have a problem seeing the "WORKERS PARADISE" popping into existence for the first time, ever.

What a bunch of rot. California is not a taker state - it is a GIVER state. And it thrives based on a free-market economy. Really, the weird, strange dreams that some people have are really quite amusing.

It's not giving much to the 25,000 homeless people in LA.
I walked around skid row (with a couple of friends) and I was utterly amazed by the volume of homeless people. Thousands, yes thousands of people living on the street just blocks from the center of downtown L.A.
Now in fairness I've heard that none of them go hungry because there's dozens of places serving free food at all hours during the day.

Absolutely correct. Pershing Square is a national disgrace. Have a look around after 2100. Simply disgraceful. As far as I'm concerned the USA would be better off without California. Healthier nation for sure. Both mentally and physically. Far too many people who completely lost their ways live in California. Let them go.

Sure, let's just drop 14% of the US economy, what could happen?

Totally unpatriotic and totally unamerican in every possible way, I have to say. There are poor and homeless people all over the world. To wish that 11% of the USA would simply no longer be part of this great Union is, well, just plain old perverse. Shame on you.

Here in California, I can tell you that letting it go will be ok because we will get it back again. It would become the American North Korea and probably get taken over from the inside out by Mexico. We would have to go liberate California.

    BTW, Hillary lock :roflol:

You missed the most basic point of all, that this is now a historical electoral statistic. Better luck to you next time. Education is a wonderful cure for ignorance.
