Liberty Ridge Farms is a business that books parties, groups and weddings for profit.

So ... no more comedy then. Or jokes. Better get rid of smiling and laughing too, just in case someone thinks it was prompted by a wisecrack.

    Sounds like Utopia :salute:

No, all you are doing is stealing other peoples property. The "public" did not pay for the store, did not take the risk, the business is not owned by the "public". Can you go to a business and demand they pay you or sell that business? No, because its not yours.

And in your own words, a business invites the public into the store, nobody is forced, nobody is required to buy.

At the bottom of your argument, you want slavery. You want to tell people what to do with their private property, their skills, and their time, and you want them to pay the price for your mistakes.

Are business' under the same restrictions when it comes to denying services to: Nudists, drunkards, drug addicts, criminals, masked people, people performing satanic acts or making lewd comments.

If the owner is allowed to deny his services to these people, but not to homosexuals, then what makes them so special? I should think the owners rights should apply to anyone or everyone who offends him in some way.

Anyway I don't even know why I'm writing on this thread. I consider homosexuals the most self centered individuals that ever existed. They should stop being so wrapped up in themselves... and start thinking of others. That farmer for instance who they're trying to hurt might have a family to feed, and even belong to a Church that contributes thousands to help the needy.

Let's compare that to the homosexuals and their needs.

they were operating a BUSINESS. the laws are evidently based on that, not private home ownership. if this couple was worried about who their customers might be, they should probably have opted for a different kind of business. no one with 'limits' to their tolerance should be running a wedding venue type business. they have no one to blame but themselves for that mistake.

If businesses make an open and documented declaration that they have the right to refuse service to anyone they see fit to refuse it to, then they should not be penalised. BUT, they really shouldn't be dealing with the public if they're going to be picky.

Definitely the government should dictate to everyone what employment they may and may not have. A person's personally beliefs should dictate what employment they may and may not have.

No, but truth is not a requirement for this site. If I'm proved wrong, I'll just move the goalposts.

Fascistic re-education camps to force modern Winston Smiths to bow to the Ministry of Truth. Peace is war. Love is Hate. Homosexuality is normal. Leftists and the homofascists think 1984 was a How-to book instead of a novel warning us to resist the thought police.

I look forward to the national story on the homofascists attempt to force a Muslim business to accommodate them.

Well, Steven Crowder has already imagined it.

Come ON, "gay rights" activists. Seek out that Muslim bakery, mosque, hotel, florist, restaurant and demand they accommodate a "gay" wedding. What are you waiting for?

I love the attempts to made America great again as in the 1950s.

For myself I had not hear such nonsense being openly stated since the very same words and logic was being used to explained why white males and white males only should be on top of the society and both blacks and women even their women should know their place.

That is quite a stretch. If you deny service due to health or safety issues, that has nothing do to with their beliefs. Rights are not there to make certain groups special; they are there to make them equal.

If a black person walks into a business where the owner is racist, do we question how much he gives to the needy before we decide if he has the right to equality? It is not up to you to decide which beliefs are worthy of protecting.

Your arguments are weak even before you admitted how you feel about homosexuals. You are the reason laws are needed.

The farmer hurt his family by using his business to push his religious agenda.

But that's not how this country works so it's kind of meaningless if that's the essence or not.

You'd think that patriots would understand the laws and the rights of US citizens.

This country was established on individual freedom, and one of the freedoms was the right to practice one's religion without interference by the government. That these freedoms have been taken away by the pressures of some minority groups and their ideologue supporters in Washington should appall all Americans.:oldman:

We are a country about the rule of law. No one is interfering with the farmer's religious practices, but if they are in business they cannot discriminate.

Religious freedom means the freedom to believe what you want. The Giffords have that. It is not the freedom to do what you want. VooDoo Bob cannot sacrifice goats in his home either.

Yes, if the Giffords sold vegetables they would be limited in that sale. We place conditions on selling marijuana for example.

Your country did become the Soviet Union.

If they can't discriminate - but I believe they can - then they should be able to. Just like the B&B owners here who were bankrupted and their business destroyed by an identical scam; it's yet another set-up to A) make a 'pushing the envelope' statement, and B) make some cash out of it from hard-working individuals (and not necessarily in that order!) whose taxes have made possible the rights gays already have. Now there's a perversion of social justice if ever there was one?

I seem to recall another one involving 'a wedding cake' too.

We are equal under the law... Gay people have the same rights you have. If they were drunk and disorderly, you could refuse service, otherwise no. Black people have been allowed to sit at a lunch counter or anywhere on the bus for decades.

There are good laws and there are bad laws. But my comment wasn't about the legality but the flaunting of their rights where they'll irresponsibly and ruthlessly disadvantage other minority groups for their own enrichment.
