as I understand it you need a plurality of votes to win. All that is needed is that 37 republican electors abstain or vote, together with the democratic electors, for someone who is not trump. That someone would likely be another republican. Getting 37 electors, out of 284, to vote against trump, is definitely doable.
first of all, and i forgot to ask this previously.. what's up with the monarchy taunts?? :roflol:

the significance of the map is zero. Don't you hear what I'm saying? The real election is when the electors vote.

Funny thing. Two people in Colorado are suing saying the winner takes all in the state for electoral votes is unconstitutional. If they won, Trump would win by an even greater margin of electoral votes.

well.. the people actually voted for hillary..

see, trumpers find themselves in the funny situation that they lost the popular vote, but won most of the EC votes.. But the EC also allows, and is indeed designed, for the electors to vote against a demagogue like trump.

you can't have it both ways.. The EC legally allows for the electors to chose someone other than trump, and without the EC, trump lost the popular vote.

It's pretty hard to take anything you say seriously when you keep spouting off nonsense posts.

The people voted for Trump, they wanted a businessman and well someone not a traditional politician so let it stand and maybe next time if he's a poor president people will vote smarter.

Sorry not going to happen. The chances are very close to nil. The chances of some one other than Clinton or Trump being selected for president by the e.c. Is nil.

Because we don't want to be Nazi Germany? The man does not stand for the principles that made America great all along. And don't go off on some tangent about liberal nonsense because this has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative. This is about being American and maintaining our core values, or becoming something we've fought hard to defeat for a century - the mentality of tyranny. And so did you.

I think it is fair to say that the majority of people who hate Trump don't hate him for his politics. We hate him because of the kind of man he is. He isn't a danger to liberalism. He is an imminent threat to Democracy.

    Hahaha.
That belongs in a SNL skit. This just in from Sweden!
What on earth makes any non-American think we have any interest in your opinion on our politics or anything else, for that matter. Out of morbid curiosity, where on earth did that impression come from?

And people were going to expect Trump if he lost he would be a big baby, now we know who the children are the Liberal side, the last thing we can stand is a government which is not going to be an easy transition between the former and new leader of our nation which is being proposed. In four years you can elect his replacement using the democratic process. Its clear to me most people wanted this since almost half of the people didn't vote if they cared they would have cast a ballot so the people who did vote decided the election. So suck it up, work with Trump and try to help him instead of trying to undermine him at every turn.

If no one gets to 270 then it goes to the house of representatives to vote and the house is controlled by the republicans. There is no way that they will vote for Hilary

next chance to get Trump out is in 4 years..

38 eight posts on my thread, and counting... so go figure.
but the house of representatives will vote on the three candidates which got the most votes in the electoral college, correct? So, if no one gets 270 votes, and if enough people vote for someone who is not trump or hillary... that means the house of representatives will have a third option which is neither trump or hillary. Right? and almost anyone would be preferable to any of those two.

Right, lying murdering and being the equivalent of a quivering child are the principles that made America great. All that Hillary would have done would be turn America into a pit of socialist stupidity. Face it Hillary and Trump were both equally horrible.

Never going to happen. So far the republicans love what Trump is doing so there is no way they are giving up the presidency.. they have complete control right now.

Get used to American prosperity for the next 4-8 years

Only in a couple of counties, mainly Los Angeles county. Our system protects minorities from mob rule of the majority. Do you think Los Angeles county represents the rest of America?

    - - - Updated - - -

It would only be nonsense to progressive liberals. They still haven't learned anything from this election.

I haven't responded to you in this thread until you attacked me in this thread for responding to someone else. The framers had someone like Trump in mind because those coming from government we're not supposed to be lifelong political elitists but people from the community, from business, to step in and take the reins of power for a short time and leave. Considering the level of education and civics these days things like this have been forgotten.

In response to your post in this thread, the framers had Trump in mind when they wrote the constitution.

They are going to whine for the whole eight-year term it seems, even louder after he's actually in office.

Keep whining. Maybe Bigfoot will ride in on a unicorn to save the day for pajama boys everywhere, even in Sweden.

The worst thing that could happen to America and to American democracy is for the electoral college to overturn the results of the election. The ramifications would be far worse than any perceived bad times from having Trump as president.

...and you are VERY much mistaken if you think the EC is "literally designed to prevent people like Trump from becomming president."

The EC is designed to prevent people like Hitler, Stalin, and Ceausescu from becoming president.

Of course...you think Trump is some sort of big old boogey-man...but he's just a businessman who played the dumbocrats' game and FINALLY beat them at it...

...and your yellow Socialist panties are in a wad.

Too bad. The Republican electors are VERY loyal...as are the dims' electors. That's why they were chosen.

Trust me....if the situation arises, the EC will do it's job and prevent a disaster.

    This is FAR from that.

This is just a bunch of whiny leftists ticked-off because their horrible crook of a "candidate" lost.

Find something more constructive to help you get over it.

    I suggest meditation.

How much have you read about the history and thinking of the founding fathers? I don't claim to be an expert but as a political junkie I've read a bit on the them and I don't see any evidence that Trump wouldn't be someone that they had a problem with.

You realize that in many states if an elector doesn't vote with the states popular vote then his vote is voided and the elector is automatically replaced by an elector who will vote as the states people voted.
It's almost impossible to get 37 electors to change their vote because only some states allow the possibility.
