I would like for this thread to be a past and present timeline of catastrophic events from the last twenty years or so! If you can give the day/month/year. If possible the casualties and the event. Try to start say around 1998 to present. The events can be natural or man made. They have to have major impacts. Thanks
It would seem he is gathering events to show how they have absolutely increased in both devastation, and rate of occurrences! Using our technology to show "birth pains" or the "time of sorrow", talked about within Revelations.
Yes, just a gathering of intel. I would like to obtain this information to do research as to sequencing and locations. The Book of Revelations contains sequence of events. I'm gathering info from new and old testaments. The events call for the opening of seven seals and the ol' so famous mark of the beast. Not going to touch other aspects could cause a fire storm. The vivid depictions can be translated in many different ways. I just want what's stated no insight into revelations it self. If you like indulge into my profile name also "Mastema" Might grasp Unknown information into a forgotten book.
Will be interesting to compare the events of the early to mid 1900s culminating in the atomic bombs. You could start with WW1,WW2, Spanish Flu, China flood etc.
Yes, we can do that. The statistics added with technological advancements of said time would be really neat to see.
When Sodom is rebuilt to its former glory, Egypt has been empty of people for forty years, and all life in Israel has been killed off then you can start to worry. Until then, eat, drink, and be merry for there's nothing to worry about.
This thread has no fearmongering going on just numbers and dates. Go ahead and start the timeline ill adjust and re-order in final findings
I'm just pointing out that since none of those major prophecies has happened it's silly to worry about the end times. And since Egypt will be empty for forty years everyone will have ample time to become holy rollers.
Nothing to worry about the intel up to this point might be very useful to my studies. Also the interpretation of Revelation is in the eye of the beholder.
The Apocrypha/Revelation started in the year 2012 ---- according to a saintly Elder in the Orthodox Church... and they know everything. I assume it was the war in Syria, unless there were other circumstances and situations that we weren't made aware of. ..like for instance some kind of agreements between certain powers or people.
The first chapter of the letter tells you that it is addressed to the seven church and will take place within a generation (40 years) - - - Updated - - - I take it that this saintly elder doesn't read Revelation.
Why do you say that Margot, because an ascetic Elder/monastic would be enlightened as to a correct interpretation as well as the time factor.
Are you saying you're the authority on who it was written to and when it was supposed to happen... because that seems arrogant to me? It would be the antithesis of Christianity since humility is considered a perquisite towards holiness.
Margot I don't know what your interpretation is of the first chapter, because I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway I only accept interpretations of those who have shown themselves to be a lot holier than myself. This doesn't mean I accept everything Elders say, heaven forbid. Only those who are saints or potential saints which of course depends on ones own discernment. But even they can be less than accurate. In this case though I do accept what the Elder said because 2012 has been mentioned quite a few times in prophecies. He said the revelation started that year and from then on its God's time. Normally though prophetic dates are never really mentioned since events can change through prayers. The event itself though can't be changed and will come about eventually because of the direction society is going. Anyway this is my opinion so take it as you may. As for 2012, it seems to be a pivotal year. Maybe something else happened other than the war in Syria, but I really don't know.
You don't need to "interpret" anything.. The first chapter says the letter is addressed to the seven churches and will happen within a generation (40 years) and its written by John, your brother in tribulation.
Here is the first chapter of the King James Bible. Now you tell me where you read that it will happen within 40 years: Chapter 1 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: 2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. 3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. 8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. 9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. 19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; 20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Because in my mind he's enlightened. Someone who had visited Mount Athos was amazed that the monks knew everything going on in the world, and yet they have no telephones, no radios, no TV's, no newspapers, and no computers. I consider this enlightenment.
