I tend to agree with the following article but think the current civil war could go hot anytime now as the left refuses to concede the last election. Keep your powder dry boys.

"It is time for our society to acknowledge a sad truth: America is currently fighting its second Civil War.

In fact, with the obvious and enormous exception of attitudes toward slavery, Americans are more divided morally, ideologically and politically today than they were during the Civil War. For that reason, just as the Great War came to be known as World War I once there was World War II, the Civil War will become known as the First Civil War when more Americans come to regard the current battle as the Second Civil War."

This Second Civil War, fortunately, differs in another critically important way: It has thus far been largely nonviolent. But given increasing left-wing violence, such as riots, the taking over of college presidents' offices and the illegal occupation of state capitols, nonviolence is not guaranteed to be a permanent characteristic of the Second Civil War.

There are those on both the left and right who call for American unity. But these calls are either naive or disingenuous. Unity was possible between the right and liberals, but not between the right and the left.

Liberalism -- which was anti-left, pro-American and deeply committed to the Judeo-Christian foundations of America; and which regarded the melting pot as the American ideal, fought for free speech for its opponents, regarded Western civilization as the greatest moral and artistic human achievement and viewed the celebration of racial identity as racism -- is now affirmed almost exclusively on the right and among a handful of people who don't call themselves conservative.

The left, however, is opposed to every one of those core principles of liberalism.

Like the left in every other country, the left in America essentially sees America as a racist, xenophobic, colonialist, imperialist, warmongering, money-worshipping, moronically religious nation.

Just as in Western Europe, the left in America seeks to erase America's Judeo-Christian foundations. The melting pot is regarded as nothing more than an anti-black, anti-Muslim, anti-Hispanic meme. The left suppresses free speech wherever possible for those who oppose it, labeling all non-left speech "hate speech." To cite only one example, if you think Shakespeare is the greatest playwright or Bach is the greatest composer, you are a proponent of dead white European males and therefore racist.

Without any important value held in common, how can there be unity between left and non-left? Obviously, there cannot.

There will be unity only when the left vanquishes the right or the right vanquishes the left. Using the First Civil War analogy, American unity was achieved only after the South was vanquished and slavery was abolished.

How are those of us who oppose left-wing nihilism -- there is no other word for an ideology that holds Western civilization and America's core values in contempt -- supposed to unite with "educators" who instruct elementary school teachers to cease calling their students "boys" and "girls" because that implies gender identity? With English departments that don't require reading Shakespeare in order to receive a degree in English? With those who regard virtually every war America has fought as imperialist and immoral? With those who regard the free market as a form of oppression? With those who want the state to control as much of American life as possible? With those who repeatedly tell America and its black minority that the greatest problems afflicting black Americans are caused by white racism, "white privilege" and "systemic racism"? With those who think that the nuclear family ideal is inherently misogynistic and homophobic? With those who hold that Israel is the villain in the Middle East? With those who claim that the term "Islamic terrorist" is an expression of religious bigotry?

The third significant difference between the First and Second Civil Wars is that in the Second Civil war, one side has been doing nearly all the fighting. That is how it has been able to take over schools -- from elementary schools, to high schools, to universities -- and indoctrinate America's young people; how it has taken over nearly all the news media; and how it has taken over entertainment media.

The conservative side has lost on every one of these fronts because it has rarely fought back with anything near the ferocity with which the left fights. Name a Republican politician who has run against the left as opposed to running solely against his or her Democratic opponent. And nearly all American conservatives, people who are proud of America and affirm its basic tenets, readily send their children to schools that indoctrinate their children against everything the parents hold precious. A mere handful protest when their child's teacher ceases calling their son a boy or their daughter a girl, or makes "slave owner" the defining characteristic of the Founding Fathers.

With the defeat of the left in the last presidential election, the defeat of the left in two-thirds of the gubernatorial elections and the defeat of the left in a majority of House and Senate elections, this is likely the last chance liberals, conservatives and the right have to defeat the American left. But it will not happen until these groups understand that we are fighting for the survival of America no less than the Union troops were in the First Civil War.

Most of us wake up every morning, put our pants on the same way, and go to work. We're not in a civil war. We're simply watching the leftists heads explode because they're not getting their way. In the end, their coalition of single moms, poor minorities, Marxists and heathens don't amount to much opposition, especially when they refuse to work within the boundaries of the law.

The only group in their coalition I would worry about actually taking up arms is the poor minorities - one has an undeniably violent subculture, and another bringing their violent subculture here from south of the border. If Nancy and Fake Tears Chuck made a call to arms, these two groups would gladly begin slaying whitey, and then there'd be a real civil war. But Fake Tears Chuck and Nancy are smarter than that. They won't tell their sheeple to take up arms. Instead they will tell them to be fearful, which may result in taking up arms.

    Clarification needed:

Is this article calling for the abolition of leftisim? How exactly do you do that without massively violating inalienable rights?

It's saying we can't get along and work with the left, we need to soundly defeat them and keep their pencil necks under our boots. You can't work with someone who wants to destroy everything you hold dear.

And how do you do that without massive violations of people's constitutional rights?

My strategy would be to sow division in the leftist coalition.

The left right now is a motley collection of grievance groups which have very little in common other than their grievance, a far cry from the old left organizing around class.

With the left out of power right now, they won't have patronage to disperse to their coalition members, and it is natural for them to start fighting among themselves for the crumbs. Blacks and Latinos already routinely fight each other for housing. White members of the coalition are viewed with deep suspicion by the Black members. Radical Feminists have a dim view of transsexuals. The notion of intersectionality leads to competition in the oppression Olympics.

The right ought to find and (covertly) fund those groups and intellectuals that exacerbate the fractures in the "Obama coalition." It might infiltrate some agent provocateurs, i.e. trolls. It is even helpful if leftists suspect this is happening as it will sow distrust among and even within the factions. Use "identity politics" against the left in a sort of ideological Judo technique.

So that is my recommendation. The Left abolishes itself with no massive violation of inalienable rights.

No need to thank me, fellow Conservatives, just get in there and fight the good fight.

You don't give in like we have been. You elect a man like Trump and get activist judges off courts. You take control of education back from the left and educate instead of letting them indoctinate. You stop trying to get along and just start kicking ass

The Left fracturing would just lead to it reinventing itself. So long as America has a two party system and first past the post elections, there will always be a Left vs Right dichotomy. You aren't going to get fractured leftists groups to suddenly vote conservative.

    - - - Updated - - -

So do you ban Leftists teachers from speaking? Do you violate the 14th amendment by arbitrarily restricting access to employment in education if you are a leftist?

Sounds to me that the nut cases on the far right...

    ...are afraid of the left.

    Not sure why.

Neither the far right nor the far left seems capable of anything worthwhile or truly competent.

I think the far right has developed an Everest size case of paranoia. They ought to get it under control and start acting like adults.

There is no civil war going on. There is hatred from the extremes of the political spectrum toward the other extreme.

If you want to do something positive about it in a personal way...get the hell away from the extremes.

No, the fractured leftist groups won't vote conservative, they won't vote at all. Democrats won't be able to find a candidate that appeals to all or even most of the fractured groups.

As to the left re-inventing itself, no doubt it will. Do you have a formula for the Next Left, the post-identity politics Left?

Such a load of crap. We oppose a man whose stated goal is to commit war crimes; torture, killing innocent people, secret prisons.

We don't elect war criminals. You do. That is the difference.

And I'm not a liberal or a lefty. I just oppose war criminals and crackpot conspiracy theorists. I am better than that and my country used to be.

So long as the Republicans are the Party of old white straight Christian men, there will be a Leftwing party to represent and advocate for everyone else.

The left is violently anti-American. They want America scrapped and then started anew, based on socialist principles. That concerns many people.

So you are sticking with Identity Politics. We will see how well that works out. I've got to admit I am optimistic, which is saying something for I am a natural pessimist.

    - - - Updated - - -

I don't. The Leftist strategy of ridiculing Conservatives didn't work out so well either, you've got to admit.

It is that kind of thinking that leads to further division.

You are part of the problem...a part of the far fringe of the right wing.

And Conservatives want to take America back to the "good ole days", which appears to be the era of segregation, de facto state Christianity, inprisonment/involuntary commitment of homosexuals, toxic air and flammable rivers, and imperialist foreign policy.

    That concerns many people.

No, but it will limit their support among centrists.

The hard core left (roughly 20% of the population) has little in common with the other 80%.

Here is my question to Trumpers: How do you defend the use of torture and killing innocent people?
Real Americans have never condoned such activities. So why do you consider yourselves Americans? You are giving the finger to all we have stood for in the past.

They'll say that waterboarding isn't really torture, in which case the question should be, if waterboarding isn't torture, are you okay with it being used as an interrogation tactic by police against American citizens?
