A wrecking ball will not fix Congress or raise txes which is what is needed.

The main problem you'll elect Anyone who says they will Lower taxes. Essentially you're living off credit cards ( National Debt )

Our taxes are at the lowest in 30 years. That is the real problem. We pay the Lowest taxes of any developed country. Wake up!

News flash. A bunch or reps, (D) & (R) don't deserve their jobs. Some think their job is solely to win re-election. If Trump forces Schumer & Ryan to override a presidential veto through bipartisan cooperation, it's a step in the right direction.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who apprecites the humor of the impending shutdown. Trump will demand wall funding, and veto any proposal without that provision. The last shutdown reportedly cost the US 24bn dollars. Imagine incurring 24bn in losses to block 5 or 10bn in border security. Gov't payments / subsidies don't impact my situation, so I'm ready to enjoy the spectacle. See post #89. Political suicide is highly entertaing.

Still pretty doubtful. Like, you do understand the scale of the collapse, right?

You're ****ing your kids over way more by wanting the US to default on its loans.

I was saying that the argument "taxation is theft" absolutely meaningless to me.

And again, the US defaulting would crush the economy for generations.

I see it as being far more immoral to force them into a life of destitution.

You're delusional if you think that total economic collapse would be good for your children. Unless you enjoy watching them starve to death.

Lol. What moral priors are you operating on that would make you think that what could very easily lead to nuclear war be "the right thing"?

It isn't the poor and the old that would lose it. It's the bureaucrats year end furniture money.

Yes I did because it's true. In fact we can fund more than thirty percent of the federal government off of daily tax income one day at a time.

    Agree 100%.

The GOP should make 2018 about supporting President Trump in his efforts to gain control of our southern border. The American people voted for that particular item, and the Dems are doing everything in their power to prevent it from taking place.

    Agreed.

Yeah. So the President should call a news conference and explain to people that the Dems are willing to cost the country 24 billion in order to keep from spending 2 billion on control of the southern border. That's quite an interesting position to have, right?

Congressional activities never cease to amaze me.

The American people want control of the southern border. The Dems are fools.

I am in favor of a government shutdown in September if it drains the swamp and gets the governmental bodies working for the American people and not for their own interests.

It's become too polarized and it needs to come back towards the center and what is important for the people. Trump was a good move in that direction but it needs a lot more work. A lot of these elitists need to know they need to start working for our best interests and not for their party.

No. He was elected to "grab'er by the p-u-s-s-y," remember? He was elected because his values matched that of his supporters, remember?

The entire so-called Federal Government is a fraud and needs to be replaced by the hand of The People. It was invented in total deceit and without the consent of The People. It created a foreign corporation and it designated YOU as a subsidiary corporation - all without your parents consent and without you ever knowing your true identity.

So, yes - I do indeed agree that:

Uhuh, and is there any reason to believe this would be effective and not totally backfire on Trump by driving his popularity down even further?

If he does you might see a repeat of what we call the Whitlam dismissal. Congress moving to remove a sitting president so as to ensure supply

the VAST majority of Americans do not want Trump to reject any budget that doesn't fulfill his agenda.

And this is the basic problem - people with such a poor understanding of the roll of government spending. The simplistic idea that only government employees get paid by the government.

Government contracts to the private sector are the Kevin Bacon of our economy - anywhere you turn, you will impact the private sector when government spending is cut. Anyone who thinks their business is insulated from government spending is just kidding themselves.

Watch congress act to impeach/arrest him. Do not doubt that there is enough evidence of foul play. Too many possible avenues here and if they allow him to try to shut down the government then even the Trumpsters will begin to be worried about how it will affect them

It won't be all that bad. Just bad for the unproductive.

No, I don't think so. I didn't raise them to be useless.

    Source?

Because when a major economic power goes under very quickly, it spells trouble for everyone else. Case in point: Look at Europe's depression after WWI. The severe economic damage done to Germany by the Treaty of Versailles ****ed up the entire continent. Now, take that exact situation, and multiply it times 10.

You raised them to beg and scavenge for food? Because that's what they would be doing.

Feel free to read up on the historical precedence:

The aftermath of the treaty of versailles is the exact opposite of what would happen because that forced germany to pay war reparations (think of it as a debt) which killed their economy. You actually want that kind of crippling debt, while I want to stop it from becoming that bad.

It would mean more Republican seats in the 2018 mid terms and cement his reelection in 2020.

Drain the swamp of those that are just in it for their party and not for the American people.

this goes for both parties so this message isn't colored in any way. But is it perhaps possible that in a party as large as the republicans it's possible members of congress prefer to follow their party line instead of what a fraction of the republican base voters want? Contrary to what some people might think, politicians aren't idiots. They know full well when they are in a position they have to try and sell unpopular decisions. It's been suggested many times, but why not research how many republicans actually want a shutdown and a wall for starters? I think you'd be surprised about the approval rates.

I know plenty of people that are not idiots but I wouldn't trust them with a $20 loan. Same goes with a lot of elected officials.

The government needs to start working together on things that matter to the American people. Things that move us all forward and build the country. Elections have consequences and it's clear what the people want, let's give it to them.
