You just want the illusion of being "safe".
Your kids are more likely to die at a railroad crossing in a rural setting than in a gun battle in L.A. You are more likely to be killed by a drunk neighbor than in a terrorist attack.

To think that everything is going to change because you live in the state of Northern California rather than California is just hilarious.

Are you saying that politics that try to change the way people live are useless?

It seems that you are saying that since it is not a big deal because it effects a small group of people.

I think it's time to do as congressman Lamalfa suggested and reintroduce wolves and mountain lions to into golden gate park and the canyons of LA county as well as the Santa Monica Pier.

Will you still say this when California goes into bankruptcy and can no longer fulfill it's obligations? It seems to be headed that way. I hope I'm wrong.

The people in NoCal are simply looking out for their best interests. They see their voice disappearing in the California government and their tax dollars going to illegals, bloated pensions, and government corruption at the expense of their freedoms.

California makes billions in Ag dollars off the illegals. Bloated pensions happens in EVERY state. Government corruption happens in Texas as often as California - just goes to different interest groups. There's ALWAYS somebody crying about their lost freedoms - whether it's in conservative Oklahoma or the great state of Northern California.

So you really think that setting up a new government in Northern California will correct all those wrongs? Which way does Silicon Valley go? North or South? Who gets Tahoe? Who gets the Delta?

Crap, dudes. You have NO IDEA of the complexities of splitting a state and setting up a new state government from scratch. Every dime you thought you saved will be spent on infrastructure. It's a joke.

Far Northern California should break off from the rest of the state and either form their own state or join Oregon.

The rest of the state should split at San Luis Obispo into 2 separate states.

California makes billions from paying slave wages? That's a great human rights statement.

The people of NoCal get no representation because the few representatives they have are totally overridden. California is a huge mess. If they do end up going bankrupt, they should be split up as any future messes would be more manageable. I think any state that goes bankrupt should be split up. Otherwise, they can settle it in state.

    How about Autonomous Regions?
I would not wish a new crop of Rural States to each get 2 Senators.

Yes to Autonomous Regions within an otherwise designated State.
Yes to the Autonomous Region of Jefferson. And others.
And if such a region has sufficient population for a Congressional district, adjust district borders accordingly.

The Second Congressional District is a sad case.

Dense Marin County just north of San Francisco to the coastal Redwood Forest.
And of course their Congressman is from Marin County.

It's not that complex. We've already worked out the kind of state government we want. Many of the people working for the state of California and living here will continue in their jobs but for Jefferson instead. Not many whom Jefferson would want to keep would move south of the new border to stay working for California instead. As for infrastructure, it's already here. We could do a better job maintaining and expanding it. Based on our income level and percentage of the state population we'd pay our share of Californication's debt and move on.

Here is the proposed state. Most of what you ask about is settled here. Silicon Valley, Sacramento, Yolo, and all of the Bay Area counties would remain in California.

WHY I SUPPORT THE NEW STATE OF JEFFERSON.

This map shows those counties in Northern California which have expressed a desire to create a new State. [IMG]

A lot of the criminals and welfare people would move south and that's a good thing. I once heard a woman who had moved from the bay area to Reno Nevada say "The welfare in Nevada sucks I'm moving back to California." There would also be business that would move North because of taxes. Another thing is people up here a willy to make do with less for more freedom.

A lot of Ca welfare recipients move north to Jefferson because the lower cost of living stretches their standard Ca benefits further. The state also dumps a lot of its prison release population up here. Those things will end once we have our state.

That has nothing to do with the Jefferson movement which wants to become America's 51st state not an independent country.

Placer county as well as Eldorado, and three more south of Eldorado are already within the Jefferson footprint. As for Orange, it and San Diego, the inland empire and the valley from Bakersfield to Stockton could form another moderately conservative state. Your northern border and our southern one would be Amador county. Sacramento and Yolo counties would attatch to the Bay Area region of a remaining coastal California from LA to Santa Rosa. Our two states could then merge.

There is timber, weed, wine, almonds, fisheries and many other sources of income to support a small rural based state that isn't run by Sacramento as a welfare state.
As you point out the needs of such a state would be so much less that you wouldn't need to bleed your population dry while you
perennially run your state deep into the red ink in order to run the bloated bureaucratic nanny state.

In San Francisco, Marin or Berkeley?

I too spent over forty years of my life in Nor Cal and there has always been much of the state north, east and west of Sacramento that has perpetually
been ignored and under served. Sort of reminds one why the US first decided they were giving much more to England, and being told what to do, then they were getting back.

I would be good with that plan. We could actually have the Education that works, the Right to Bear Arms, and we could boom the economy helping all.

We allow the Liberals to make Puerto Rico a state so they have an offset in votes. I am not looking to be unfair, just to allow people to actually live without a Centralize Authoritarian control which Sacramento pushes.
