I'm not sure where you're getting at with this comment, but if you want to be technical, yeah, if white people didn't decide to denounce slavery then it wouldn't have ended so you should be thankful instead of walking around with a smug look, a chip on your shoulder, and acting like all white people owe you something. The same crap was tried by the southerners when the civil rights and intergration fight came about. Southern tried to claim that the "decision" to intergrate or notvwas a state right to determine.

Here's an example. I was working in Cville during the riots. I was called there. Hundreds of people protesting the removal of the statues were not Nazis, or Klansman, or racists. They were innocent Americans who are protesting the fact that removing statues (any currently standing) violates free speech. They were protesting government power. They wanted NOTHING to do with the racist Nazis or bigots there. They were nice people who just think the government is over-reaching.

Ignorant people who can't differentiate this don't deserve to even be in a conversation about this.
