I am a scientist--a biologist, in fact. Please tell me if the answer is so simple: Of course it's a human being. Please tell me the exact moment, according to your views, that a fetus becomes a human being?
Its not about when abortions occur, Its a out when the baby is a person. In the medical community, it has to be treated as if its a human being at 24 weeks, that's driven by medical fact and facility, medical facilities that have a neonatal icu often drop the 24 weeks to 21 weeks. Its clearly a human being at 24 weeks. Sometime between conception and 24 weeks, it becomes a human being. When that occurs is the issue.
Viability is around 23 weeks for a fetus. That means that it could live outside the woman. Abortions are legal until the 23rd week. They are legal after that if the life/health of the woman or fetus is in jeopardy.
Abortions at 24 weeks are only to save the life of the mother, or if the baby will die. My friend was faced with that horrible decision when the sonogram showed that the baby’s brain was outside the skull. The doctor said it would live for a few seconds.Do you think you should make the decision for her?
AGAIN, the fetus becomes a legal person at BIRTH. This is a simple concept and I can't understand why you can't get it. AGAIN, NO it does NOT. At 23 weeks it has PROTECTIONS not rights....I see you still haven't looked up the defintions of "rights" and "protections" and still don't know the difference. AGAIN, the medical community does NOT determine laws or rights. There is NO "issue". It is A human being (noun) as in "legal person" ONLY at birth. AGAIN, it is always human (adjective) You may ignore the facts but everyone who reads posts here know you have been proven wrong ...and note that you have NEVER proven me wrong....or can even address my posts
A human fetus is always human (adjective). It becomes A human being (noun) as in "legal person" when it is born.
A zinger from Trump in the last hour: “Right now, a number of state laws allow a baby to be born from his or her mother’s womb in the ninth month. It is wrong. It has to change.” Ummmm...
OMGAWD! He doesn't know the length of human gestation!!! OR he wants to CHANGE the length of gestation! The man is, no surprise, an imbecile.
Trump Flubs Abortion Speech: It's 'Wrong' for Babies to Be 'Born' in Ninth Month Daily Beast 1 hour ago
Actually he said that abortions are done in the ninth month, On aware that they are illegal unless there is some medical reasons. He is also unaware that 90% of abortions are done in the first trimester and a fraction are done after
I want to know your definition. If it's different than mine, we could end up agreeing on something that we disagree on (or vice versa). An important part of any civilized debate is to agree on terms. That is what I'm doing. Personally, I see viability (from my readings) to begin at around 22-23 weeks. And, yes, I have a bachelor's and master's degree in biology.
And you are avoiding the answer. Why is that? Is it your ignorance, or because you know your answer is morally reprehensible?

It is always human, but not a human being until birth. You may call it a human being (or anything else you choose) but that gives it no legal status.
