I remind you that Sessions only had to recuse because HE lied about Russian contacts

I also remind you that Trump made this all happen by firing COmey and then bragging that he had put "the Russia thing" behind him...TO THE ****ING RUSSIANS as well as to Lester Holt on TV

    Bullshit

Session did not HAVE to recuse himself and should not have done so

Interesting, could you explain? Jeff Sessions and the DOJ would disagree with you, if he had not recused he would have been in violation of DOJ regulation 28 CFR 45.2, launching a very messy scandal and putting himself in legal jeopardy. Also, his job is not to "protect the president". Trump is completely unfamiliar with any regulations which isn't surprising, he doesn't read, he doesn't listen and thinks he knows everything. In short, Trump is a childish clown.....albeit a very dangerous clown.

The chances of trump following Gowdy's advice are about the same as a meteorite striking the planet. Trump is set in his ways and at the age of 70 or however old he is now are highly unlikely to change.

Yes, concur. Best option for Trump. Fire Mueller.

Trump won't leave until they drag him out at gunpoint.

...and what about this pussed out Lindsey Graham? What side is he on? Not much of a Rep is he? Maybe a Dem shill.

Everything has a reasonable end to it if it is a real investigation. If time limits were not put on investigation, evidence gets lost and memories fail.

For discussion, if Trump does fire Mueller, how long does Trump stay in office?

There is one more option...Trump is innocent and does not worry about cooperating or not cooperating.
He fires Mueller and says it is witch hunt and he is innocent. No one can prove otherwise.

That would be the end of his presidency. Do you think because Mueller might be fired that all the work his team accomplished would just evaporate?

Bit more juvenile than that, as befits the subject. I just imagine alt righties all have cabbage ears and not a whole lot going on between them.

I don't think so, there have been many independent counsel investigations over the years, some reasonably quick, others last for years. Hell, the one into Bill Clinton went something like 7 years. Mueller has been at this since June of last year, I'm guessing he'll be another year or so by the time this is over and we know something. This investigation has been professional, no leaks from Mueller's team. The media isn't happy about it but Mueller's people are pros and the only leaks the media are getting are from witnesses and/or their lawyers........

If Trump were to attempt the firing of Mueller, he'd have a full scale crisis on his hands. Rosenstein wouldn't do it so the buffoon would have to fire Rosenstein and down the list until he found a rube that would do it - just like Nixon found Robert Bork, LOL. And it wouldn't mean the end of the investigation - as Nixon also found out......;)

    You're pretty much correct

Trump will fire Mueller and Republicans will not do a damn thing about it...the spineless cowards...

What time frame do you think is fair?

Trump may keep on firing until he gets the right person. Firing people is nothing new to Trump. Is it right that he could fire Mueller and not be in trouble unless he is guilty of the charges? Doesn't he have a right to fire Mueller?

There could also be another twist to Trump. Trump likes being controversial, he likes attention, he likes chaos. Trump could be innocent, but still fire Mueller, just to thumb his nose at everyone saying - don't confuse Trump with a chump.

Nope. He could fire Sessions and appoint an Acting AG who could then either fire Mueller or starve his investigation of funding and authority

Time frames are not part of investigations and never have been.

It takes as long as it takes

Somehow, I doubt this was your opinion when it was Ken Starr. But hey, you never know, spots might change.... Unlikely though.

The better question for those on the left in support of Mueller is, why? If we have sufficient evidence that the collusion never actually happened, what is the continued justification for Mueller?

Fair? Fair can mean different things to different people. I mentioned in my post how long I think this could go on for. Asking what time frame is "fair" for an investigation by a special counsel is a bit like asking "how high is up"?.....

    One thing is for sure...

Pence must be thinking about his speech to the country if the need arises. And the Dems must be trying to figure out how to destroy Pence!

Either way, judgments have to be made or the Dems would still be investigating Trump when he is underground.

The Dems goal seems to be to remove Trump, so why drag your feet? On the other hand if they have nothing and just want to cause distraction and interfere with Trump, they can go on forever if there is no time limit.

I'm not sure what you are driving at. Firing Sessions would be an extremely ill conceived political act which would make the "political problem" so much worse. If appointing an acting AG, this would be seen for what it is, a purely obstructionist act to try and get rid of Mueller. Firing Mueller is a different animal for Trump and I think he realizes it would be unwise to do it. I think this is why he has gone to plan B, which is to try and discredit the special counsel's investigation in advance of it being complete. Typical trump actually....

My god. What does it take for you to recognize the FACT that you are ignoring Rosenstein’s qualifiers in the statement you keep referring to? I guess we can just keep holding your nose to it. Honestly, what do you call what you’re doing if it’s not lying? You know that you’re cherry picking what he said. You know you’re drawing a faulty conclusion. You continue to do it. What else can you actually call that?

You're applying the logic a rational innocent person would use.

    That is your error

LOL, take the word innocent out of your post and I'll agree. I haven't been "innocent" in over 5 decades.....;)
