Good luck with a civil suit selling the idea that the school should have waited until some kid had shown up at the schoolhouse door with a real gun before they acted.

 

The school had no indicator of a threat, and even less of an indicator of an actual weapon. A phone call to the parent would've more than sufficed! The parent doesn't need luck, the parent just needs to sue lol.

 

Never hear that he was sticking it in anyone face just waving it around as any kid might do.

In fact the person who call 911 stated that he think the gun was likely a toy.

But I agree playing 'thug' even for a 12 years old is unsafe if you happen to have a black skin.

If however you have a white skin you can killed 17 people and the cops will tackle you instead of gunning you down.

That's craziness on the part of the School and Police. You'd think that an apology and a "Boy do I feel stupid" confession from the school and Police would be in order. I mean they violated his rights to speech, privacy and security. If they don't profusely apologize, his family ought to sue the stuffings out of them, and nip this utter nonsense in the bud.

No, that's not how it works. It should've been looked into perhaps, but once it was determined to be an airsoft gun, they knew there was no threat, so why was he still suspended? You lefties are going ****ing insane.

 

I know full well what the report says but when looking at the detail he was not arrested. Only his mum said he was arrested. In fact the boy stated that the school officials "took my phone and my backpack and pulled me into the office, out into the hallway where the officer told me to put my hands out and he checked me".

No hand cuffs, no arrest and just sent to a school office and received one day suspension

As for the boy who built the clock - hand cuffed, taken to the police station and questioned for several hours. There is no comparison.

When a student is suspended, they receive a "0" for all the work done that day. A zero on a test can really affect their final grades. A day of suspension can have bigger consequences than you think.

I think we can all agree that if the kid bit his pop-tart and it looked like a gun his suspension would have been 100% justified.

 

Well when you live in a society in which the police can murder unarmed citizens in the streets with impunity while your war criminals walk free and cycle back into governmental institutions and the corporate state media pushing more war criminal activity and global occupation, when the citizenry has been stripped of its right to Habeas Corpus, when the nation's staunchest free marketeers ran the economic system into collapse and were rewarded with socialism on the backs of the people - all while the public did nothing – the public has not given the power structure much to even think about in terms of how far it can go before encountering resistance.

 

It kind of feels like the "Shoot first, ask questions later" tactic is the reason we are talking about this in the first place. People tend to forget that we are talking about a child here. The kid got something he was excited about and shared it. This isn't the only case of schools doing this sort of thing. A 7 year old was suspended from school for eating a pop-tart that happened to resemble the rough shape of a pistol. That 7 year old now has that on his record. Because of a pop-tart. There is a line and a phone call could have saved those kids from crossing those invisible lines we have put up.
