Many wars the USA has been in was later learned was justified by deliberate, outright lies. Spanish-American War. Iraq War 2, WW1. Many South and Central American actions, and Vietnam most come to mind.

Russian will not attack American forces. Their military equipment is no match for American military force. Last February we saw a preview of what would happen if Russian military was to engage the American one when their mercenaries were crushed in Syria. Russia has a hard time tracking Israeli F15s, so it's clear that their equipment will be no match for American F22s and F35s. The most the Russia might do is shoot down some American missiles and run a propaganda story in the media about it.

There is no chance for WWIII, because as much as Russian politicians claim to be patriotic, many of their own kids and family members study and live in Western Europe and United States. For example, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has a daughter who lives in the United States. By ordering an attack on the west, they will essentially be attacking their own family members, which they would never do. Many of them also have investments in the west.

If the Russian military was to directly engage the American military in Syria, it would be total embarrassment and loss of prestige for them.

Now, whether Trump should even attack Syria is another story. At this point of the conflict, he won't change the balance of power and it's very unlikely to dissuade Assad from ever using chemical weapons.

That would explain why the Donald Cook hasn't unleashed its Tomohawks on Assad yet. They want to wait until the USS Harry S. Truman and its carrier strike group sails into the Med next week.

I guess it depends how high a price Putin is willing to pay. If he thinks the U.S. won't retaliate he's in for a rude awakening.

outmatch doesn't mean we wont suffer, you are talking about 2nd most powerful military force in the world, not IRAQ. If US missile hit Russia target, the tension could escalate to the highest since cold war.
Frankly the place I live, i'm pretty sure Russia has Nuke targeting it.

I find this hilarious as well. First, our democratic friends would criticize Trump for being too light on Russia. When he finally get tough on them, he is criticized for being a warmonger.

They don't know what they hell they're mad about. If they REALLY were mad at Russia, they would have blamed Obama for telling the world "the cold war is over" and laughing at Romney when he explained the threats. Instead, they just keep changing their mind

Yes, but when you can develop selective amnesia...a disconnect from reality takes place. Fewer and fewer americans have no idea what their reality, or actuality is. There are various reasons for this, and none of them worth defending. Well, if one is mentally ill or retarded, that is legit, but none of the others are. One can try to put all of the blame on MSM being purveyors of lies and propaganda, but at the end of the day, it is the fault of the individual to be taken in by it, for not questioning, and for believing without one shred of evidence.

Operation Northwoods was a CIA scheme, a false flag, to blow up an american air liner, and I guess murdering americans in order to go to war with Cuba to take down castro. Apparently JFK said hell no and then the evidence, the paper trail on this was destroyed, so americans would never know what our CIA had planned to do. The only reason that we know about this is that they missed a couple pieces of paper, which was found by accident, which revealed the conspiracy, the planned false flag operation. Now, this is the general business of intel like the CIA, which was formed in order that we never suffered another sneak attack like with japan. It was intended that the CIA gather and analyse info for the President. But thanks to men like Dulles, it also was turned into an agent of violence and meddling in the affair of other nations, which it has done since that time. Like Northwoods. And of course it uses MSM to spread disinfo and lies, aimed against the People, as evidenced in Operation Mockingbird.

People who cannot accept the truth have a defense mechanism. Thanks to the CIA who coined the term "conspiracy theory" in order to use it to hide the truth by ridicule of americans who could still think rationally and logically. Quite clever. For it worked and continues to work.

And I think Trump would be content to let Russia shoot down some missiles and leave it at that.

A couple of important things you didn't mention are 1) Russia's inability to project power and 2) its laughably poor logistics. This would put them at a decisive disadvantage against the U.S. military in Syria.

True. When you weigh the pros and cons, the Russians are much better off letting Assad take his punishment instead of taking it themselves.

Like it or not, it looks highly likely that a strike is going to happen, Retroiboi. The question in my mind is whether or not Putin & Co. have something valuable enough to offer Trump that would persuade him to halt an attack. I think Trump and his foreign policy team are ultimately looking past last week's attack and on to the post-conflict resolution in Syria. Welcome to the opening round of negotiations concerning Syria's future...

Israel has nukes that be mounted on missiles, which can reach most of the world. Israel is not part of NATO. No one will attack Israel.

It is not up to Israel anymore. If the US attacks Syria, Israel will be the target in retaliation.

Whoever happened to coin the term, it's a good one. A conspiracy theory doesn't take all facts into account and relies on falsehoods and distortions, and serves personal biases. Conspiracy theories also tend to be outlandish and unrealistic. We see a great variety of them very commonly represented, from climate change to evolutionary theory to the moon landings. People will embrace conspiracy theories about all sorts of things that they do not understand for personal reasons, and also for social reasons. They're a way for people to form communities (sharing a belief).

I even listened to one of the videos on the page you gave but I cannot find that. Israel is not a country which would take any attack lightly.

Lieberman has been told to shut up. And the person telling him that was Netanyahu.

I see a press briefing is on now. The official word so far is that Syria and Russia are to blame for the chem weapons attack. I have to assume that the threatened strike will come eventually, based on that.

White House: Trump holds "Syria and Russia responsible" for chemical attack

    From CNN's Jeremy Diamond

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders responded to Russia's claims that the chemical weapons attack was staged by the Syrian rescue group the White Helmets, saying US intelligence findings point to Syria and Russia as the responsible parties.

"The intelligence provided certainly paints a different picture and the President holds Syria and Russia responsible for this chemical weapons attack," Sanders said.
