Fox News and rigth wing talk radio support an entire cottage industry of fact checkers devoted to unravelling the web of lies, fake news, and idiotic claims taht permeate right wing media, and have for years.

I have been following politics for over 50 years. I am confident in my media sources, because they are the ones who turn out to have gotten it right in the long run.

You can't even begin to say that about clowns like Limbaugh or Hammity.

But talk radio doesn't actually work that way.

Talk radio is entertainment, not information. It's audience is not well informed, and accepts the idea, heavily promoted by the presenters, that they are becoming informed by listening to the host lead the uninformed in a discussion where each caller reinforces the prejudices of the audience, usually without any factual evidence.

The talk radio host's tools are the seven second delay, and the fact that their producer has a screen full of incoming calls, all identified by what the caller wants to say.

In this way, the talker has an ongoing instantaneous review of how well his line of patter or his talking points are being recieved by the audience, and can make adjustments on the fly.

The important thing is not to bore the audience, confuse them with a lot of detail or fact, and not to offend them. If offending is necessary, it's always best to focus it on an imaginary "other". That makes for great radio

Journalism, integrity, facts and being informed do not enter into the equation.

It's all about selling.

 

With eyes closed and ears plugged, lefties are fed what the party wants them to hear.

Internet archiving service { Wayback Machine } and then reported to
Mediaite months ago.Reid made an apology in December of 2017
admitting she made the Homophobic slurs.One involved trying to
tarnish and suggest Charlie Crist was Gay.Also from the years
2007-2009 about a dozen remarks " highly offensive to the LGBTQ community."
Reid as of the yesterday is now caught in a corner.She is attempting to
use the old " her account got hacked " routine.That her posts were accessed and
manipulated at her defunct blog.That her defunct blog was hacked and
controversial content was added.
Typical Leftist bullcrap.I can think of no finer example of

Reid prided herself on taking other's statements and twisting into
whatever troublemaking she could muster.I don't know how many
times she was on MSNBC lying like a pirate about another.Very many

However keep an eye out for how MSNBC plays this Reid dramatic
turn of events.I think they will attempt to wait it out and see what develops.
But if the Reid story { outing } picks up momentum { already has } then
MSNBC will first issue some statement about an extended leave.
This also puts MSNBC in a box.They know full well how difficult it would
be to fire her.Not a piece of cake like Keith Olbermann or Cenk Uygur.
Fire her and then Al Sharpton will make a move.

Regardless, I believe that, at that time, that was the claim being made by the female subject. Fox merely enthusiastically ran with the story. They apparently wanted it to be true, thus they factually reported her claim without doing due diligence.

That is something which is all too common with all news outlets.

Limbaugh is not alone in that. It's the standard format of talk radio.

And it generally only takes about that long before Lumbaugh says something completely idiotic, outrageous or false.

But his audience, comforted in the conformation bias bubble that surround nearly all of right wing talk radio, never notice.

They will certainly never punish the host for lying to them. If they did, Limbaugh would be spinning the oldies in Cape Gidreau.
