The German corporation Hensoldt developed a new Radar which is called passive radar. It meassures radio waves and their deflection and calculates the position of the aircraft.

Now we have the ILa in Germany, one of the worlds largest aircraft events. Germany plans to buy new fighter jets and USA hoped for a contract. Because of that, USA send two F35 to present them the german audience. But the two aircraft dont fly. They just stand around while all other aircrafts make flight shows.

Just few meters away Hensoldt placed a truck to present passive radar.

The F35 is labelled as stealth fighter. Experts believe the americans fear detection and a PR desaster so they grounded the two aircrafts and cancelled all planned shows.

The entire event becomes more and more a desaster for lockheed martin.

Meanwhile more and more comnents come through, that Germany wont buy F35 but develop its own jet.

No jet is 100% stealthy, but F35 is more advanced than 4th generation jets like F15 and F16. Obama made a huge mistake by scrapping the F22 program, but F35 is still an advanced jet. With this being said, Germany certainly has an ability and expertise to develop their own 5th generation jet.

I think the F22 is the better jet. The F35 appears like a very expensive thing with much failures

Passive Radar only gives bearings, not ranges.
