So what what would happen if legalized ALL drugs. I don't know for sure but it's fun to guess. First obvious thing is the drug lords would dry up faster than a shot of scotch on an Arizona blacktop in July. Second the U.S. would retire its entire national debt from drug revenue tax in about a year. Drive by shootings would moderate some. Our starving pharmaceutical companies would finally turn profitable (!). You try your hand now.

Your example is absurdly utopian. We have real world examples of what happens when all drugs are legalized.

Short term: OD's spike, drug cartels see an immediate loss of revenue, violence drops, tax revenues increase.

Long term: Drug addiction overall drops, drug overdoses drop, hard drug use drops, drug cartels either create legitimate businesses to access the market or get shut out entirely, tax revenues level off.

Don't you mean decriminalize? or Do you believe that everything is illegal until the government, at that time, in that place, deems it legal?

    STD's would sky rocket.
Post addiction clinics would be swamped.
    Medical Addiction costs would rise.
    Traffic deaths would rise.

Actually we need to enact stronger penalties for drug users and offer treatment programs for the addicted.

    Dealers/traffickers = capital punishment within a month.

Nope, they are still illegal, just decriminalized.

If you get caught you aren't sent to jail for small amounts, instead you are forced into rehabilitation which if you don't complete you will go to jail.

If you are caught distributing you go to jail since its illegal.

Many users busted for using would rather spend a week in jail rather than the rehabilitation process where they are subject to a long recovery and drug testing.

Seriously, some of you guys really need to research your talking points.

I imagine OD's would skyrocket. If anyone could walk into a pharmacy and buy any amount of painkillers and narcotics they wanted, there would be a massive die off.

I think the exact opposite would happen. Giving no need for there to be a black market would reduce crime, not enforce it. If you’re a criminal, where is the adredekine rush in obeying the law? The pharma industry takes advantage of the DEAs rules to jack up their prices. Legalize this stuff, you will start ro see companies like Pfizer crumble tumble,

I forgot. Anybody involved in drug enforcement will be out of a job. Morticians should make up the difference..

Drugs are easily accessible to anyone who isn't a Jehovah's Witness. If crack is legalised are you going to go use it?

I wouldnt want my aircraft assembled by someone who is drunk either. Thankfully, we have laws against such things.

Tens of millions already walk into 'pharmacies' and buy whatever amount of painkillers and narcotics they want. Dealers don't exactly care about your health all that much.

Until February this year us Australians could get codeine 15mg APAP 500mg over the counter. I like that to stop you getting addicted they put in something which will kill you in a most painful way. Seems counter productive to me. I'd rather be addicted to a weak opiate than die from renal failure.

They made them prescription only, all good things must pass. The world is in continual decline. Black market oxy is much better anyway. And there is nothing quite like home made opium.

I don't think straight edge types realise how easy it is for them to buy whatever drugs they want.

I'd start by legalising the cultivation of cannabis, opium, and cocaine for personal consumption.

They don't and they don't understand that more sales are on the streets because it's cheaper than being fleeced by a doctor and pharmacy.

Well we could stop the War on Drugs which is a waste of money in my opinion. But I don't think cartels would dry up because they would still be selling the product. There might not be as much money in the smuggling side of it but then again there's a lot of money and smuggling legal substances into the US.

    I don't know I don't think much would change.

Or a plane piloted by one? Pilots dragged off flight decks because they're pissed up with alcohol are almost daily occurrences.
