What is democratic socialism everyone is talking about.

IMO democratic socialism is majority sanctioned theft. Take from the workers and give to the shirkers. Politicians that promote this can always depend on the vote of the shirkers. The lazy back sliding drones of course think it is a wonderful idea.

 

What do you think Tariffs are? Taking from consumers to bailout uncompetitive workers.

I look at a country that charges us a tariff as some one that is screwing us. There should be a zero when it comes to a balance of trade

Adam Smith was sympathetic with government operations and deeply concerned about workers and the poor. A lot who cite him have never actually read him. He would have been appalled by free market capitalism given his religious views I believe and his sympathy for workers.

A lot of Democrats/liberals/progressives have been talking about democratic socialism and I’m a liberal before you try to claim I’m a Rightwinger.

 

It’s in his head. He has these types of conversations with himself all the time.

 

Democratic Socialism is different from Social democracy. Democratic Socialism is socialism with more democracy (workers still own means of production), while social democracy is a highly regulated form of capitalism, with a social safety net, like free education, universal healthcare. (capitalism + socialism mix).

Ex. of social democracy are scandinavian nations, and various European countries.

The two terms have unfortunately been used interchangeably in recent times which is sad as they are not the same.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not a Democratic Socialist. But a social democrat.

Tariffs predate the concept of Socialism by a century or so. They also protect you from unfair competition.

To be fair, there were colonies that tried socialism in early America. They didn't call it socialism, but it acted just the same. Those colonies started to fail very quickly.
