Twelve former senior intelligence officials, including 11 former CIA directors and deputy directors and one former director of national intelligence, have signed a letter of support for former CIA director John Brennan, calling the signal sent by the White House's decision to strip him of his security clearance "inappropriate" and "deeply regrettable."

The letter's signees include former Directors of Central Intelligence William Webster, George Tenet and Porter Goss; former CIA directors Gen. Michael Hayden, Leon Panetta and Gen. David Petraeus; former director of national intelligence James Clapper; and former deputy CIA directors John McLaughlin, Stephen Kappes, Avril Haines, David Cohen and Michael Morell, who is also a CBS News senior national security contributor.

In their letter, the former directors called allegations of wrongdoing on Brennan's part "baseless" and criticized the White House for what they said was a transparently political move.

"[W]e all agree that the president's action," they wrote, "has nothing to do with who should and should not hold security clearances – and everything to do with an attempt to stifle free speech."

    Transparently political move...... Transparently........... Political.............

    Stifle free speech.

How can anybody back this move on PF.com? Unless this administration has PROOF that Brennan (or any individual on Trumps Political Hit List) abused his/her clearance capability by exposing classified information, this decision should be reversed immediately and this deflection dropped.

But I'm guessing since the clown cannot admit his own failures, this will not happen.

The current intelligence community should devise a way to punish this president appropriately. He obviously doesn't use or believe their services anyway.

Truly disgraceful, or as we call it in 2018 (in language Trump is certain NOT to understand), Par for the Course....

Gen. Tata: 'Communist John Brennan' Never Should Have Had a Security Clearance

A 'clear and present danger' to the nation.

U.S. Army Brigadier Gen. Anthony Tata (Ret.) said President Trump was justified in revoking the security clearance of John Brennan, who Tata described as a "clear and present danger" to the nation.

Trump on Wednesday revoked the former CIA director's clearance, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders announced, saying Brennan "has a history that calls his credibility into question."

In response, Brennan tweeted hours later: "This action is part of a broader effort by Mr. Trump to suppress freedom of speech & punish critics. It should gravely worry all American's, including intelligence professionals, about the cost of speaking out. My principles are worth far more than clearances. I will not relent."

On "Fox & Friends," Tata said "Communist John Brennan" never should have had a security clearance in the first place.

Brennan has admitted that he voted for the Communist candidate for president of the United States when he was a college student in 1976.

Tata questioned Brennan's record as CIA director, on everything from the Iran nuclear deal to ISIS to Russian election meddling.

He also noted that Brennan has repeatedly called for Trump to be removed from office, noting that question 29 on the security clearance form asks, "Have you ever supported overthrowing the U.S. government?"

"I think that John Brennan is a clear and present danger and a threat to this nation," Tata said. "He supports the overthrow of this particular president, and he needed to have his access to information revoked."

Watch more from "Fox & Friends" above.

Brennan has NO LEGITIMATE REASON WHATSOEVER for a SECURITY CLEARANCE.

Yes, but Trump doesn't know what to do.. He just attacks and insults.. like he has done with our allies almost constantly.. and when he makes an ass of himself he attack US intelligence and people like Brennan.

Now he's butting heads with Turkey for no reason.

Leftists are always clueless about the ACTUAL SOLDIERS, as opposed to the "At the Rear, w/ the Gear" idiots you cite :

He is a former brigadier general in the United States Army, having served for 28 years in the military before retiring in 2009. From 2006 to 2007, he was Deputy Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division in Afghanistan.[3][4] General Tata served two tours of duty at Fort Bragg in the 82nd Airborne Division. He also was brigade commander in the 101st Airborne Division and Deputy Commanding General of the 10th Mountain Division.[3]

Among his many accomplishments, Tata was awarded the Combat Action Badge and Bronze Star. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army's Ranger School.[3]

    Yank theirs too.

"Free Speech" has nothing to do with security clearance lol. Stop trying to make everything a right.
Nobody has a right to a Security Clearance.

Same CRAP the left tries with everything. They think everything is a right these days.

Brennan is still on the air and can say whatever he wants. his free speech does not require a security clearance. if it did, then we all should have a security clearance...if we all have the same "rights" of course.

    Pure nonsense.

Brennan is ax ex-Communist voter who said Trump should be executed for treason. He has ignored a long-established tradition of past administrations not criticizing the current administration. He exposed one of our double agents in Africa.

He is not in government. There is no benefit to the U.S. by providing him with a top secret clearance.

Cutting him out of the loop was long overdue.

This has NOTHING to do with free speech. No one is stopping Brennan from continuing to make stupid comments. He is not being silenced.

He is being punished for speaking out against Dirty Donny.
That punishment may have a chilling effect on others.
The removal of his security clearance is not aimed at a security concern. The purpose is to stifle criticism of the president. That is disturbing.

Access to top secret information is a privilege, not a right.

He abused the privilege. He got what he deserved. If others use their access for political purposes and call for the execution of Trump for treason, they'll have their access cut off as well.

Yesterday he was on every network acting like a fool. No one is preventing him from speaking out.

Indeed. Like every good Republican president before him, Trump should bend over, grab the ankles and let Democrats and MSM have their way with him. Imagine that - Trump has the nerve to "attack and insult" Liberals... Unheard of!!! :confusion:

Is not Brennan a regular contributor to PMSNBC and CNN, both vehemently opposing Trump and Conservatives? Would it not be smart on president's part to limit Brennan's access to the National Secrets out of fear he'd leak it to these two honorable news organizations? After all, Brennan is strict non-partizan fella, right?

There is no evidence he abused any privilege.

There is no allegation - none whatsoever, by anyone - that he improperly used classified information, or that there was any risk of him doing so.

The ONLY thing he did was criticise Trump. Trump didn't like it and took the vindictive approach of pulling his security clearance. With the intention that others would notice, and be afraid to criticise Trump for fear of their own security clearances being pulled.

Trump is abusing the powers of the office.

So it was illegal for Trump to cut off Brennan's access? What law did Trump break?
