The counts against Cohen included tax fraud, false statements to a bank and campaign finance violations tied to his work for Trump, including payments Cohen made or helped orchestrate that were designed to silence women who claimed affairs with the then-candidate.

Though not named in the plea deal filed in court, the women whom Cohen helped silence were two who have since gone public with their claims of sexual encounters or affairs with Trump: a porn star named Stephanie Clifford, who goes by the stage name Stormy Daniels, and a former Playboy model named Karen McDougal. Trump has denied the claims

    Yes.

Plus, it includes reference to a corporation and chairman with whom he had dealings concerning the coverup.

CNN reports that Cohen faces up to 65 years.

    But wait. There's more. :)
Just saw one of Cohen's lawyers on TV hinting he had information about Trump having prior knowledge of the DNC hack and info on the tower meeting.

Much as I might disagree with the man, I've always maintained you are innocent until proven guilty. There was a lot of smoke, but no fire we knew about with regards to the man himself. This is still not a fire, because it is an accusation made under oath that has yet to be proven in a court of law.

But it is significant. It is the first time we have publicly heard of that Trump himself is being accused of a specific crime by a witness in a legal setting. The jury will now need to decide whether that witness and the evidence of this claim is credible. Until then, Trump remains innocent of any actual crimes (bad behavior and policies you disagree with are not crimes), but this is a significant development. It is not looking good.

His confession sounded like it was written by Mueller and Comey. Did anyone see Cohen blink "torture" in Morse code? Does the law even mention "with the intention of affecting an election"? They could not possibly be able to prove that was the intention even if it is against the law. If Trump was not running for office and those women threatened to make their claims public it would have broken no laws to do so. It doesn't automatically become against the law if they do it while running for office. Trump intentions could be the same as any other time, not wanting to put his family through a scandal. The closest thing to this is John Edwards and it shows how hard it is to convict on these grounds.

I don't know. They said he was Cohen's lawyer.
Are you stirring up another conspiracy theory?

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Wednesday he sees no threat of impeachment against President Trump based on claims from his former lawyer that Trump directed the payoff to porn star Stormy Daniels.

"We're far away from impeachable offense or criminal offense on the part of the president," he said on Fox News.

Dershowitz said that while Democrats will likely clamor for impeachment, that remedy was designed for major crimes, not "minor derelictions" like the sort of campaign finance violations committed by most campaigns.

"You need a high crime and misdemeanor. Every campaign has violated some technical election law," he said.

He said more specifically that Trump's opponents would have to clear two major hurdles before having any success impeaching Trump. One is the legal hurdle of showing that Trump's and Cohen's actions constitute a crime.

"If Mr. Trump the candidate contributed several hundred thousand dollars to his own campaign to pay hush money to women who were either truthfully or falsefully alleging against him, that's not a crime," he said. "A candidate can contribute as much as he wants."
"If he directed somebody to do it intending to pay it back, that's probably not a crime," Dershowitz added. Cohen told the court that his "candidate" directed him to pay Daniels hush money, after which he was reimbursed.

"I think the law on impeachment, at least according to my research, is fairly clear, and the president has not, at least up to now, committed any impeachable offenses," Dershowitz said. ….snip~

Once again Dershowitz rains on the Lefts Parade. So far Dershowitz hasn't been wrong with any of these investigations going on with Trump.

    Indeed there is more.

Per @KaraScannell, Cohen isn't flipping, he's just agreeing to plea guilty. I assume that means one of three things is true 1. He doesn't want to cooperate 2. Doesn't have anything of value 3. The Feds already have what he's willing to offer Story: https://cnn.it/2w3GfhY

The plea deal seems to involve some very creative fiction writing.

"There appear to be two payments involved in this unusual plea — Cohen pleaded guilty to a campaign violation for having “coordinated” the American Media Inc. payment to Karen McDougal for her story, not for actually making the payment. So he is pleading guilty over a corporate contribution he did not make."

Yeah and on the Stormy Daniels, he was reimbursed. So they got nothing and the Leftness went all giddy with the Lame Stream in thinking they had a gotcha moment. I did get a kick out of their Joy joy feelings all bubbling to the top. Moreso from those in the Lame Stream.
