Why is it that when I try to insert an image all I get is an "image icon" at the upper left-hand corner of the area where the photo ought to be inserted? Like this:
Odd. I've never seen that before. I just copied your screenshot from Firefox and pasted it into LibreOffice Writer on Linux without issue.
Tried it. Got this. It is a regular jpg image. I used the "Insert/Image" from the dropdown at top of page.
Yes, it used to work for me too. But it doesn't any more. I lost the scroll bar on the right column too.
It's an image(screenshot) of the image placeholder which you posted. In other words, his libre office is working without issue. Maybe it's time for you to uninstall and reinstall Libre Office?
Yes, but I've done it 3 times already. Look at my original screenshot. No scroll slide either. Now look at your screen with an open writer document. I know that I clicked onto something I shouldn't have done but I'm not smart enough to know what it was. If you just look at mine and tell me how to put it back to look like yours ...... the problem will be solved. You know what I mean?
Have you tried this for your scrollbar. "View/Scrollbar/checkmarks on Vertical and Horizontal. Also see that "Images and Charts" have a checkmark next to them. :
Wow! Yes, you are right. I got the scrollbars back. It didn't cure the "insert photo" problem but I think you have pointed me in the right direction and I just need to find the right choice in the "view" selection. Thanks a million!
Ps. You were right! I got it! It was in the View choices "Photo and Diagram" (if that's what it is called English) Thanks again!
I just copied his posted image (right-clicked on it and chose the option to copy it) within Firefox and simply pasted it directly into the Writer document.
