Time is on Trump's side. The folks on furlough are Democrat voters anyway so it's not like HE'S going to lose voters, that honor would go to the Democrats they helped elect with their copious Union Dues Donations.

keep telling yourself that and someday it will be true and government workers will never vote Republican again

Americans will never vote another Trump if he keeps the government shutdown for months

Why? Because he has no moral fiber and doesn't care about people as indicated by his dissing his own people with this shutdown,

Dude when the first question is if we open the government like you want does the negotiations afterwards include a wall and Crazy Nancy facelift pops off no wall period now or later, you walk away. Good move sorry your not going to get what you want without giving. Trump has gone from a full southern border wall to what 63 additional miles now? 32 billion, now down to 5 billion. Daca extension of three years to give congress time to fix it. Can you name one thing the dems have given?

No wall under any circumstances does not leave much room for negociation

We have to have a wall along with stronger laws against illegal aliens

    Yes, we do.

In the cartoon world of Limbaughlooneyland, there is a crisis on the border. How do we know? Because Fox Noise replays an endless b roll of brown people and tells its audience to cower in fear of the imaginary invasion.

Outside the looney world of the trash media the plays to the angry white vote, the "crisis" does not exist. None of the long term statistics on immigration, legal or otherwise back up the claims being made by right wing media.

The Trumpsters cynically rant about a humanitarian crisis. And then go silent when anyone points out that Trump caused it and has no intention of fixing it.

The "wall" is a sacred cow for the high percentage of bigots in his base. A campaign founded and built on appeals to fear and bigotry is fundamentally un American.

That's why there will be no wall.

Real Americans will not betray the values this country claims to hold dear by erecting a monument to fear, ignorance and bigotry.

    Bullying?

I never threatened anyone. I was just pointing out facts.

And I'll repeat, real Americans will not stand by while a few deplorables and their tabloid celebrity fuhrer disgrace this country.

This is hte land of the free and the home of the brave. We do not cower in fear of an imaginary invastion by brown people just because a candidate uses fear and bigotry as a marketing strategy, and does not care how many people he holds hostage or how many people suffer for it.

Sidebar irony -- do you realize how few people there are in this country who can even read Roman numerals anymore...?

And it's worse than not seeing the hypocrisy of hating "Old White Men" while decrying "racism". No, the worse part is that these militant hyperlibs are well aware that they are hypocrites -- but they just flat DON'T CARE that they are!

"Whatever you tolerate, you'll get MORE of...." :cynic:

    Why not?

    Let's do it.

Would be a drop in the budget bucket.

    (1) I am aware of two times, in recent history--2000 and 2016--that Democrats won the popular vote, but lost the electoral college. But not four times.

    (2) It is not my mission to defend what "[R]epublicans might or might not do. (Sometimes they can be just as cynical as Democrats.) But that still does not make presidential election by popular plebiscite a good thing.

    (3) Since the Electoral College is mandated by our Constitution, it could be eliminated only by a constitutional amendment. That would require not only a majority in the House, but a two-thirds supermajority in the Senate. Do you seriously believe that you might ever achieve that?

Oh, I see: When you disagree with the principles of someone else, that person has an "agenda."

Is your belief system also an "agenda"?

One can always play that game.

    But I am talking about a state--not a demographic.

No, other large, blue states (e.g. New York and Illinois)--which are dominated by large cities, and the attendant underclass--helped Hillary in 2016 also. It just was not enough.

Why would I have done anything? I’m not on Capitol Hill.

If you’re going to use a standard, be prepared to be held up to it.

At the time of its passing, Obamacare approval was in the low 40’s, like now and the wall. 7 years later..... well its a different story.

So using your logic, we should build it and in seven years, approval of it will be in the majority.
