House passes sweeping election reform bill

    https://www.politico.com/story/2019/...m-bill-1212693

"The legislation includes a national expansion of early voting, redistricting reform, making Election Day a federal holiday, automatic voter registration and stricter disclosure rules for a bevy of political activities. One particular ethics provision would mandate presidential and vice-presidential candidates to publicly disclose 10 years of tax returns — a nod to Trump’s refusal to do so despite decades of precedent.

The bill has little chance of becoming law in the face of stiff opposition from the GOP-controlled Senate. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said this weekthat it would get no floor time “because I get to decide what we vote on.” Trump has also threatened to veto the bill, in the unlikely event it made it to the president’s desk.".....snip~

The Demos were adding all kinds of things to the bill. Coccaine Mitch says its DOA.

And HR 1 would remove all state voter ID laws. So illegals would vote anyhow. Typical Democrats going with the Slim shady and trying to come off that they are doing the Right thing.

They can keep only the best aspects of the bill before voting on it!

Yet.........there is no provision in the Dem's bill or any provision in anything Dems have ever proposed advocating for people to vote unless they are legally allowed to do so. So......the whole "subvert the constitution" thing is a steaming pile of dung.

Amen. Elections aren't conducted by federal govenrment. They are the purview of the states. Federal government has no business fussing with them.

    Click bait !!!

A more honest title would be...

Repubs go on record defending America's established culture, customs, traditions, language, history and heritage and American citizenship too

I absolutely oppose democracy, so did the Founders', that's why they gave us a Constitutional Republic. Too bad today's liberals don't even understand the basis of our government, how very sad...

Um, What? Pelosi Tries To Argue Illegals Should Be Able to Vote...Using a Reagan Quote?

Earlier this week, Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a press conference in Austin, Texas. One of the issues that came up was whether or not "new immigrants" – translation: illegal aliens – should be allowed to vote. Of course, we know where Pelosi (and her Democratic caucus) stands on this issue. They believe anyone who lives in America, regardless of their citizenship status, should be able to vote in our elections. During her press conference, she made a rather strange appeal using a quote by President Ronald Reagan.

When Pelosi makes speeches like this, they're clearly geared towards conservatives. It's like she thinks if she quotes Reagan that suddenly every ounce of our opposition to illegal immigration will suddenly dwindle. If anything, speeches like this reaffirm what we believe.....snip~

It appears the Demos were all down in Austin Texas. Making that play for Texas. While saying some really stupid things. Not surprising, huh?

The OPs idea of "democracy" is more people getting to vote to get more free stuff for themselves.

And once that happens, over a period of time there will be less and less free stuff to be had. The black market in the former Soviet Union was, in some locales, bigger than the official economy and it almost always dealt in foreign goods.

Well one thing is crystal clear. The Repubs didn't go on the record opposing Democracy. So that conclusion is false and is the usual faulty left interpretation of reality, of course Pelosi playing with the words New Immigrants and getting called on it. Shows the perspective for what it is.

Then there is that matter of the leftness wanting another day off from work. Which of course they would want to be paid for Election Day and being off for a National Holiday.

Naturally the Dimwits of the Demos didn't want to expound on getting rid of State Voter ID laws either.

I would bet good money (if I had any money lying around unspoken for) that if you made election day a "paid day off/national holiday" that tens of millions of eligible American voters would be lining up at various day trip vacation destinations. Not at polling sites.

There is no need to both expand early voting and make Election Day a federal holiday. Automatic voter registration is pretty much already in place--see Motor voter. The whole tax returns thing is PR that Nixon did and that other candidates have voluntarily followed. It's just political theater.

You wouldn't believe the number of leftists I've heard of the that wanted to make voting mandatory. The smarter ones backed off after it was pointed out that which ever party did that would be all but guaranteed to lose every election cycle till it was repealed and for a few years there after.

Someone once said that if we're so intent of increasing voter numbers why not put trails of cash to the voting booths?

Why doesn’t the ‘voter fraud’ crowd care about what happened in North Carolina?

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/outl...ppened-north-carolina/?utm_term=.9a23edbfebd0

"An election may have been stolen in North Carolina. While evidence continues to be gathered, officials are investigating whether a paid Republican campaign contractor collected mail-in ballots from likely Democratic voters and never turned them in, possibly changing the result of the election. It’s a crisis of democracy: State election officials told a hearingMonday that North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District was subject to a “coordinated, unlawful, and substantially resourced absentee ballot scheme” orchestrated by a GOP operative.

Here’s my question: Where is the voter fraud crowd? You know, the folks who cry “crime” when two people named John Smith vote in the same state? Their silence in the face of seemingly serious election fraud reveals their fundamental bad faith and hucksterism."

Donald Trump Got $17 Million Insurance Payout for Damage Few Recall

    http://fortune.com/2016/10/24/donald-trump-hurricane-payout-mar-a-lago/

Donald Trump said he received a $17 million insurance payment in 2005 for hurricane damage to Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, but The Associated Press found little evidence of such large-scale damage.

Two years after a series of storms, the real estate tycoon said he didn’t know how much had been spent on repairs but acknowledged he pocketed some of the money. Trump transferred funds into his personal accounts, saying that under the terms of his policy, “you didn’t have to reinvest it.”

Deflection.....voter fraud crowd is still around. But then you didn't say anything when Franken got in as a Senator with votes from Prison in a State where that wasn't legal. As long as a Demos wins.....the lefts take. It is all good like.

Nor did the left say anything about the dead voting in Chicago in an Elections where Repubs had no chance of winning. Nor did the left say anything about those Demos in Texas that got caught with voter fraud.

So now we are back to the false construct you came with for this thread.
