Former vice president Joe Biden is proposing to restore California’s now-defunct high-speed rail project — just months after Gov. Gavin Newsom pulled the plug, and President Donald Trump pulled the funding.

...Spark the second great railroad revolution. Two centuries ago, the first great railroad expansion drove our industrial revolution. Today, the U.S. is lagging behind Europe and China in rail safety and speed. Biden will develop a plan to ensure that America has the cleanest, safest, and fastest rail system in the world – for both passengers and freight.

    Is Biden hypoxic?

The California high speed rail project was just a way to redistribute tax payer money to democrat political interests.

Not surprisingly it was never built-though california tried to keep federal funds to the tune of 1 billion dollars.

    Trump took that money back.

This all happened recently, how is Biden missing that?

I wish he could build a high-speed railway to return illegal immigrants and "asylum seekers" to Mexico's southern border......

Suddenly and inexplicably he'd flip flop on that type of rail project.

Completely mischaracterized, and ridiculous, Breitbart BS.

Why are Trump's Supporters so obsessed with Biden?

It is still 20 months+ until the election and the Trumpies are clearly TERRIFIED of Biden.

And, this mischaracterized BS Breitbart "narrative" won't change one vote.

Especially, when posted at a RW Echo Chamber (like PF).:salute:

As long as air travel is faster and cheaper, high speed rail is useless.

As long as the airlines can treat you like ****, I’ll want high speed rail. Keeping people hostage for hours, over booking flights, not having enough terminals for planes to land etc etc

People need to get real. The USA has become a second rate power that isn't even in the rail technology race. It may even be losing the commercial aircraft industry. The recent issues with several of Boeing's aircraft models is a case in point. Some large customers have even refused to accept jets from the non-union plant in the South. The insist on only accepting aircraft built in the union plants near Seattle.

Why again do we need rail? Is it just because it restricts the movement of citizens around the country? Do you suppose that rail is the substitute for freedom? Fun stuff here. When folks demand that they will only support their political cronies financially, I suppose it doesn't occur to you that, well, that's like the very definition of RICO....

Can't (wont) stop the influx of poor illegal immigrants from pouring into California and can't get the drug addicted homeless off the street, but they'll spend stupid money on something as useful as this.

WOW...how in the world could he have totally forgotten this massive failure of a project that the left wingers in Cali blew our tax dollars on was canceled? Is his memory going? That's a sign of mental health issues....or maybe he is just that out of touch with current events?

You aren't the only one...apparently Dems didn't think so twice before, knocked him out of the primaries....when he was a younger man, and wasn't having these memory issues.

You may be correct since he needed the girli-man Obama to protect him in the WH for eight years.

    That is pretty sad.

I prefer trains. When I was a kid, my family traveled between NYC and Chicago train. It was great. But for whatever reason, it’s just not efficient and cost effective.

High speed rail just won't work. Air fares are so much cheaper these days they should just cut their losses.

Someone should tell Joe so he can flip.

He's doing that a lot recently.

When I was very little we rode the Super Chief several times. It was around 1950. We went between Arizona and New York. In Chicago the Pullman car we were in would change between the Santa Fe and the New York Central. So we didn't have to change trains. It was an elegant way to to travel.

In the late 1960’s we would go from our home in the Chicago suburbs to visit relatives in the NYC suburbs every Christmas. I don’t remember it as elegant, but it was more pleasant than air travel.

In the summer we’d drive and that was fun, too. The motels always had a pool.

A train trip from Chicago to the L.A. would be fun.

You run out of oil or a gasoline shortage like we had in the mid 1970's and you'll wish you had passenger trains that move faster then a snail. I'd take a train over the airlines in a heartbeat; at least you don't have your luggage rifled through nor have to practically be strip searched in order to get through security.
