But has a catch ... Trump not only wants to clean the US of illegals, he also wants to give far less green cards as he says himself!

So an American Muslin has a real chance to become US President ... or even an Atheist?

And what does that have to do with the topic? Nothing ....

But to your reassurance: Do you know how hot that was?

And for your further reassurance ... if you do not know: Merkel does not compete in 2022 as a candidate.
However, to your concern: Currently the strongest party are the "Green" ... and the total opposite of you and your views. If they ask the next chancellor, then you want Merkel back!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Unveiling a new immigration plan, President Donald Trump said he wanted to provide a sharp contrast with Democrats, and he did — aiming to upend decades of family-based immigration policy with a new approach that favors younger, “totally brilliant,” high-skilled workers he says won’t compete for American jobs.
    ...

Do you seriously think that these people pick fruit and vegetables in the fields that Trump wants and that should get a green card?

If that is what he actually said it's a contradiction. How could intelligent, high skilled workers NOT compete for American jobs?

Correct ... that is then namely the next point that arises as a question.
Aren't Americans smart / good enough for some jobs ... or are not enough existing ... that a need of foreign people to let in exists?

The claim is the US now has a lot more jobs than people looking for work.
    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/06/10/jol...point6-million-more-jobs-than-unemployed.html
and so they use that to justify increasing H1-B and H1-A numbers. I travel 43 miles north on I83 toward Harrisburg to work and there are a lot of billboards advertising help wanted. Saw very few during the Obama admin.

When you are poor, where you work has nothing to do with preferences. You work where the work is.

Sure .... but are there enough poor who are willing to do these bad paid hard jobs, because having no other alternative, eh?

Look here ... posted by Tim15856 above...

So ... where no native / legal workers existing to do this jobs, who will do these jobs then?

Why do you supposed America has had an interest on German internal affairs since the end of ww2?

The "crops rotting in the field" canard is played out. Europe has an agricultural sector, but somehow manages it without the mass of illegals. Same with Canada. Of all the First World nations, only do people insist that the United States MUST have an illegal labor supply.

The prices of some agricultural commodities may in fact go up once illegals are cleared out of the country, but using that as an argument is the same as a 1850's Southern Senator arguing that slavery is needed to keep agricultural prices low. You don't want to pay more for those cotton shirts and cigars do you?

And yet, Europe is also dependent on cheap farm helpers in the crops ... and has an increasing problem here. These come from the eastern European countries, precisely because the "natives" are not dependent on these lousy paid jobs. However, the Eastern European countries are getting better and better financially, so they do not really have to come to Western Europe anymore to work as farm helpers!

And my approach is not that you Americans should accept the Illgalen or have to ... how about just thinking about making them legal for a limited time?
Only this logical step is contrary to statements by Trump regarding green cards!

You have this work to do ... at a low wage ... so face realities and act accordingly.

    What is again?

So you think, out of gratitude, we Germans should behave as we did 30 years ago and shut up? ROFL ... in which dream world do you live? Utopia of America?
Sorry ... of course we are grateful, but that does not mean that we are your slaves. And you only get grateful if you behave decently ... and as far as decency is concerned, the US, especially since Trump, still has a lot to learn before they have the right to speak of the gratitude of others!

The reality is that the United States has an agricultural worker Visa program and has had one for decades. The problem is that it requires that agricultural employers provide fair wages and living conditions...something they are not keen to do with illegal alternatives that will accept cash paid under the table. So minus illegal workers, the US will still be able to provide all the farm labor it needs, they'll just have to be treated fairly.

Then tell this the big farmer lobby please ... because they ar enot willing to accept to pay higher wages to farm helpers and so on!
Also ... they told that these increasong costs will go on the products too and so makes the agro products more expansive!
