What expectation? When they wrote this they were specifically including slaves, who had no chance of becoming citizens.

Also, you'll note that native americans were not counted in the Census, as they had no right to vote.

Wouldn't it be a little disconcerting (mildly) to say "yea" when there's at least a 50-50 chance the gop LIED to the courts about the intent being to boost the power of white votes? I have no guess where this will go, and I don't think the question was necessarily improper, but as Roberts said they don't have to be "naïve."

But I don't understand how that explains the statement that "for every illegal counted an America is marginalized." What it may mean is that when state/federal dollars are allocated for them, those dollars aren't available for other uses. But it's not a "person-for-person" issue. And our elected representatives are supposed to deal with all of it.

 

It's kind of hard to make sense out of a senseless decision. Seems like another example of Roberts trying to be judge, legislator, and thought police all at the same time.

Winning one? The objection is that (D)'s are hell bent on counting illegals as CONSTITUENTS and gerrymandering the EC. Mello needs a "winning" explanation as to why the DNC wants illegals to be represented in national elections when illegals do not have the right to vote.

 

Can someone please tell me how and why this ended up at the Supreme Court? And what part of the constitution would've influenced their decision!

 

How: The DNC has judges that work directly for the party and they have been disrupting every major part of Pres Trumps agenda so far.
Why: Democrats depend on judicial activism to accomplish in the courtroom what they cant accomplish on Capitol Hill.
Constitution: Apparently it wasn't an issue at all.

The constitution requires they be counted. Not even the trump admin is trying to claim they shouldn’t be counted.

 

There's no doubt that they should and will be counted ... it's a question of accuracy. The census bureau will have to assume illegals are CONSTITUENTS who are entitled to EC representation. They aren't, and the census without the citizenship declaration is a fraud.
