About half of US pop has had a family member incarcerated. You don't have someone you love in prison yet so you might not give a shot. If a person don't care about the safety of prisoners in general then I would assume the death penalty would be ok with that person. . Guards are under constant threat from those who would murder given the chance. The guard murders are not huge ...in the single digits..yet the attempts are often. The ones who do kill a guard are often given the death penalty in those states that allow it. The other states put them back into the same environment.
When that so called suicide attempt happened, they questioned a police officer who was in jail for killing some people, so they must have had some suspicions. After that incident they secluded him. More than likely he was poisoned. This reminds me of Miloshevek who died right before he was to appear in court to prove his innocence. He kept saying that they were killing him, and that he felt worse whenever he took his medication. When an autopsy was held, they found that he was being given something that blocked his heart medication.
