Three things history teaches us

First and most important, DO NOT forget history or try to re-write it.

Second DO NOT believe in or turn socialist because of what the first sentence says. Remember last century 100 million people were killed by socialist governments.

Third to prevent number two, don't give up your guns. People with guns are voting citizens. People without guns are slaves or dead. Again see number two.

 

You’re conflating socialists and communists and military dictatorships.
How many people have the governments of Sweden or Norway or Canada killed?

 

I agree with #2 and #3, but in general I think that people vastly overstate how useful history is as a learning tool.

And I teach history.

 

Those countries are NOT full on socialist. And-------------I don't think the 100 million dead care to much about those countries.

 

Socialism is communism light.

None of those countries are full on socialist.

They have integrated more social policies than us, but they are not full on socialist countries either in economic or control.

 

It seems to me that history is a good teacher. Socialism sound so good since the lazy that vote it in think they are going to get something for nothing.

But and that is the big but, socialism degenerates in to communism and communism degenerates into dictatorship, and that's how 100 million ended up dead.

 

Commies are socialist.

Nazis are socialist.

The Democratic party are going socialist.

 

and none of those are socialists they all have market based economies owned by private citizens.

 

The biggest thing we learn from history is that we do not learn from history.

 

One other thing I might mention, remember how a couple of years ago, Bernie was telling us how WONDERFUL socialism is, and pointed to Venezuela? Tell us, where is Venezuela today?? If you are lucky, you might get a good pulled puppy sandwich there.

 

Socialists are just communists without their guns.

 

Bottom don't let all the lazy drones that hear all the wonders of socialism and think they are going to get something with out work drive this country into socialism or we are doomed like Venezuela, and the 100 million were in the last century.

 

Problem with that. History is the long-term experience of a society.
Individually- if you don't learn from your experience... you are indeed destined to be a fool for the rest of your life.
Social history is a bit different in that it covers long periods and changing times and changing people- but the core lessons are damn good ones, and only an idiot ignores them.
A old friend of mine once told me "I can forgive, and I can forget- but I'll be damned if I will forget what I forgave." Experience and consequences are the timeless teachers, lessons from those who have already been where we are going. Our job is to do it better- and not make the same mistakes over and over.

 

Rule 4:

Don't learn about anything on internet forums. Go to RELIABLE sources. Not crazy right wing sites or chat groups filled with paranoid gun obsessed lunatics, etc.

 

i agree but we are making the same mistakes that have been made before us and many are full force pushing those errors thinking them to be the right thing to do.

 

Right.... Trust he reliable crazy left-wing sites and chat groups. where the tin-foil brains are obsessed with the kind of garbage you appreciate. Above all, let's not talk honestly or reasonably about issues; can't win anything that way. Stay as far away from the center view as you can, truth is always in the extremes. your extremes of course, not that other one.

 

And of course a lot of us think they are too smart to learn from history. Their parents were idiots too, when they were teens.... but maturity and kids of their own forced them to look back and find out how dumb they were as kids. Now what happens if immature adults- grownups with kid thinking- have kids? Those kids have nothing to look back and learn from. Idiots who failed to learn raise idiots.... who raise kids who fail to learn. Proof of this? Just look around you. Since we started giving kids Ritalin instead of discipline and examples of maturity, we have a huge crop of such people. They can't think for themselves, can't spell or add, can't read a map, don't know how to work, have no idea how to manage money, cover themselves with graffiti, and still think.... they are smarter than their parents. These people need history lessons- Bad.

 

If you want to learn about history, or anything else, go to reliable sources.

You think a chat group or forum where someone posts stuff about not giving up one's guns out of fear of "turning socialist" is a place to get reliable info on anything?

It appears you think your sources in the same areas are reliable, but the sources of those whose opinions differ from you are crazy. That's pretty well the self-serving line we have been seeing from the libs, the left, the anti-gunners, the no-borders/no invasion/no ICE people, too. I call it morality of convenience.
