I may choose to consider an idea because of the credentials of the one offering it; but after that, the idea stands or falls on its own. How do you do it?

 

I start with the messenger and then I research. For instance the GDP report on Oct 26, 2012 showed 2 - 3% growth, I considered the source and timing and doubted the numbers. In the end, after revisions, Obama didn't disappoint. The real growth number was 0.5%.

 

You equate the credibility of the message with the credibility of the messenger? Then how do you assess the credibility of the messenger?

Nothing good comes from disagreeing with people rather than ideas, but the very worst things come from agreeing with people rather than ideas. You place too much value of authority in my opinion. Authority may play some part when it comes to which ideas I choose to consider, but it plays absolutely no part in my considerations. Idea stand or fall on their own merit as far as I'm concerned.

It is where I'm living. Road construction which drives road rage attitude....slow downs every where you go. And residential commercial seems to be doing well here.

 

Not here in Pa. where most of our roads now look like former mine fields that were exploded.

 

These statistics have been gathered the same way by the same organization for decades. The Bureau of Labor Statistics does a survey each month. They randomly contact around 1500 households and about the same number of businesses in the US and do a statistical analysis. I am not sure of the exact number they contact. They do some adjustments because of the season. Like most samples, they have a statistical error, but the samples large enough to be considered accurate. Just because you do not like them, does not mean they are not accurate.

 

While you may very well be correct I am very skeptical because the two fields they named with the largest 45,000 job gains do not appear to be adding, jobs as they claimed.

 

Unless you are contacting a very large number of people, your sample size is most likely inadequate for any logical conclusion.

 

It's not that difficult now that I think about it. Since the start of November every delivery service in the US is calling in help UPS fedex, even the post office is taking on temporary even the big cyber sales are bringing in extra help. The 90% of retail sellers that are still in business are hiring as well.

 

No worries, the Trump fans will start questioning official job numbers as soon as a Dem is in office again.

 

I will probably be dead in 2032.

 

Most leisure and hospitality jobs in the U.S. are for the domestic market not foreigners.
