This sounds like a heavily-researched opinion.

That's from 2012. I will read it and offer my extremely "well-educated" analysis. Heh.

Democrats were saying the democrats were smarter than republicans in 2012 and substantially the same people that were republicans and democrats in 2012 are republicans and democrats today. Unless, of course, you can show some mass movement between the parties or some more recent study that shows differently.

Otherwise, you are just in a state of denial.

Just to make it clear. I am not laughing with you. I am laughing at you.

Darwin never said or wrote that.

    https://quoteinvestigator.com/2014/05/04/adapt/

Which is neither here nor there insofar as it is irrelevant to what we are discussing.

Educated people like to read. They appreciate fine language. They try to write well themselves, out of respect for themselves and their readers.

Those people who claim to be educated but are indifferent to the proper use of language are not really educated. They are credentialed barbarians.

You're reading it incorrectly. The study concludes that people who watch FOX actually perform more poorly than people who watch or listen to no news at all.

‘The Daily Show’According to afollow-up survey by Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMindTM, NPR and Sunday morningpolitical talk shows arethe most informative news outlets, while exposure to partisan sources, such as Fox Newsand MSNBC, has a negative impact on people’s current events knowledge. This nationwide survey confirms initial findings presented in a New Jersey focused poll(from November of 2011). In the study, 1,185 respondents nationwide were asked about what news sources they consumed in the past week and then were asked a variety of questions about current political and economic events in the U.S. and abroad. On average, people were able to answer correctly 1.8 of 4 questions about international news, and 1.6 of 5 questions about domestic affairs.“Of course, knowledge of current events is predicted not just by watching news, but also by factors like ideology, education, age and gender,” said Dan Cassino, political scientist and poll analyst. “Based on these results, people who don’t watch any news at all are expected to answer correctly on average 1.22 of the questions about domestic politics, just by guessing or relying on existing basic knowledge.”However, the study concludes that media sources have a significant impact on the number of questions that people were able to answer correctly. The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly—a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all.On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR,they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only The Daily Show with Jon Stewart could answer about 1.42questions correctly.

Your list of high school dropouts makes me glad I finished High School. They are a bunch of idiotic entertainers. None are really good examples to emulate.

While there aren't many out there, I'd choose a college-educated mechanic over a high school dropout mechanic.

Not reading anything incorrectly.. I am not referring to their analysis. I am referring strictly to the questions and who answered them correctly. The republicans answered each of the nine questions correctly more often than democrats. It is no more complicated than that.

Almost nobody gets PhDs in gender studies or race relations.
The great majority of PhDs are in sciences and engineering.

Not the best example. Not much can (or should) be done for a broken toe.

With today's cars, I would bet that somebody that can read well (the college graduate) has a better chance of fixing the car.

When I go to a mechanic and he can not fix my car. I pick a different mechanic. I don't check to see whether he has a college degree.

There is one Subaru dealer and one Ford dealer where I will not any of my cars.

Good for you. You found a nondescript graph that has as much to do with our conversation as the space shuttle.

I'm college educated and I know my way around a car just fine. AND I understand the electronics. Good luck getting your high school drop out to diagnose a malfunctioning sensor.

Both my sons and I are college educated. They are both better with cars than I am. However, the best mechanics in town are not college educated. I doubt that either are high school drop outs. I don't judge people by their education. I judge them by their ability.

But, if you are going to throw in high school dropouts, how about no nigh school or grade school education. You might as well take it all the way and compare them. When you have to throw in high school drop outs, your argument loses all credibility.

There is a crevasse between intelligence and 'educated'... and an even bigger one between educated, and being able to apply it to everyday living. Common sense cannot be learned, and rarely critical thinking skills.

'Education', of the 'higher' variety, no longer teaches how to think, it teaches what to think, preparing for tests, instead of applying knowledge to problems.

I have some college credits...but the majority of my career has been learned on the job.... which I've been doing for 26 years.

This is bullshit. College absolutely teaches you how to think critically and solve problems, you just need to take the right classes.

I know I never referred to high school dropouts.

There were three of us in our high school Algebra class who were the standouts. I ended up with a master's degree. The lady ended up with a bachelor's degree. The third man never went to college. He started at the bottom in a company and retired as VP of sales. A multimillionaire, many times over. By far the most successful in our class of around thirty five.
Many times the right class is experience and the will to exceed.
