Trump setting up this country for chaos

certification process takes place before January 21, IF there are no objections.

if Trump screws with the mail and absentee ballots, there will be objections and House will not certify. if they can't come to a resolution by Jan 21, Trump and Pence lose control.

An objection must be declared in writing and signed by at least one Representative and one Senator. In the case of an objection, the Joint Session recesses and each chamber considers the objection separately in a session which cannot last more than two hours with each Member speaking for no more than five minutes. After each house votes on whether or not to accept the objection, the Joint Session reconvenes and both chambers disclose their decisions. If they agree to the objection, the votes in question are not counted. If either chamber does not agree with the objection, the votes are counted.

• Objections to the Electoral College votes were recorded in 1969 and 2005. In both cases, the House and Senate rejected the objections and the votes in question were counted.

 

House is run by Democrats.

if the rejected electoral votes mean nobody gets 270, we have a problem.

Pence and Trump lose power, and Pelosi or Patrick Leahy becomes POTUS

 

and the Senate is run by the GOP

they only have a couple hours to debate, and each objection has to be signed by both a Senator and member of the House.

As highlighted eariler the certification process will take place prior to the new Congress....if it results in a tie in EC Votes....then there is a vote in the House...where each state will vote

What you fail to grasp is that sense of Democrats control the house, they don't have to certify any election where Trump has caused widespread chaos.

They know that if no resolution takes place before January 21 a Democrat becomes president. So they really have no motivation to give in to the Republicans. They have the upper hand in this situation.

If Trump starts seizing and invalidating mail balots all hell will break loose.

If he is smart he will let the absentee ballots and the mail ballots be counted in full.

FYI- Joe Biden and the House of Representatives will not certify the election until it is clear that all absentee and mail ballots have been counted. If we have to wait till March so be it.

The law requires it to be certified or not before the 21st, well before as I explained. At the Joint Session, the do it, if there is an objection, they each go to their own chambers and have 2 hours to debate it....

It either is objected to or rejected, then they count....and certifiy, if it's a tie then it goes to the tiebreaker process...this all happens before the new Congress is sworn. There is no way it goes to the 21st without a certification
