Did you hear about the blind prostitute?

You gotta hand it to her!

But seriously, arresting a bar owner for refusing to close his business to avoid a 2% risk of death is absolutely an abuse of power.

2%? Last I heard it was more like one tenth of that.

I disagree. Letting the virus spread unencumbered is a failure of leadership.

There are ways to contain the virus while not shutting everybody down. It takes a concerted effort from everyone. Politicizing public health is the exact wrong way to go about it.

The obvious fallacy being that the assumption the virus is as deadly as the media proclaims it to be.

And since it is not, rudder up.....bow down

The individuals who currently frequent bars clearly do not know what they are doing, and they don't care. I don't care if they themselves get sick or die, but I DO care when they take their covid they picked up at the bar and spread it to the community. That's exactly what happened in our county. With 100,000 hospitalizations, 3000 deaths a day, 200,000 new cases a day, bars need to be shut down for the next month.

How about we pass laws so you can no longer disagree?

Woke up this morning and saw a few videos of hundreds of folks out there last night in support of this guy. Good, this is exactly what needs to happen and what needs to happen all over the country when stories like this come up. The Constitution doesn't get shelved during a pandemic. Plus what exactly does the government expect folks to do? Who is paying these folks bills? Are they supposed to just survive on their emergency "the government shuts down your business and sole means by which to make a living indefinitely" fund that everyone was supposed to have the foresight to save up for?

This isn't going to be the last time we hear about something like this in the coming weeks I assure you. I just read about some restaurants in Michigan doing the same thing.

I am fully in support of a bill compensating businesses in the bar and entertainment industry for shutting down. 100%. Republicans are against it.

How do you know they picked up the virus at the bar? You don't. How do you know they picked up the virus anywhere? You don't.

After all, people go to many places, with or without masks, and walk away healthy. Some get sick from taking the garbage out, or collecting their mail. Your assumption that anyone who goes to a bar 'do not know what they are doing', means you believe that the government knows better than the individual and people are too stupid to make educated choices for themselves.

Of course, there was no spread from the protests or riots, the trips to the fast food joint, schools, doctors offices, grocery stores, WalMart, or any other facility. ONLY in bars and restaurants, eh?

You need to rethink your logic on this.

You put your money up and let the government decide who deserves it, I'll continue supporting my local businesses.

Typical Republican response even though they would gladly fork over my money to nameless corporations by the trillions.

Yes, you know. In our county, the outbreak starting in mid October was contact traced to ONE bar. Just ONE bar. The result? 40+ people dead.

We also DO know where the risk of spread is the greatest: Any venue where the same people are in close contact for extended periods of time. That's not the grocery store, or Walmart, or doctor's offices, or schools. No, it is bars, restaurants, family gatherings, parties, weddings etc.

I wouldn't know, I'm not a Republican, but dismissal of statements with sad chaff pretty much identifies some people.

And protests, and riots, and WalMart and grocery stores, if those are your beliefs. I wonder how people who practice social distancing, masking, don't go out in public and/or live alone contract it?

No, I don't feel it serves a purpose.

Just as with the time restrictions that all X businesses must close by 9:00pm. Does the virus have a restriction before 9:00pm? Does drinking after 2:00am make people any more or less drunk?

I agree, but my Republican state does it, that is the point - so saying this is something only the left does it just wrong...

Well, China's GDP grew in the past year while the Western world has seen the greatest shrink in GDP in history. So Trump is blamed for a virus started by the Chinese, that is benefitting the Chinese and that apparently the Chinese will not be held responsible for. Biden promises more shutdowns. China is flush with CASH, it is almost like Biden is purposely trying to drive property down so that China can buy it at rock bottom prices. I have to wonder how much Chinese money Biden has already taken and how much more he is promised. There is not a single sane reason for shutdowns other than to punish and harm middle class business owners and allow billionaires and the Chinese to harvest their resources.

China is irrelevant to Trump's failure of leadership.
