Oh, I thought the topic was about who gets priority in getting the vaccine. Silly me. ;)

Either way, the federal government (CDC) seems to have screwed up the recommendations. Hopefully my governor will not listen to them and go with a science-based process.

They should be sued for racial discriminations. Race should have nothing to do with it,

Is it solely because of the color of their skin or preexisting conditions due to lifestyle?

The color of you skin is not a vulnerability. It should be done on pre-existing conditions and age. If more blacks have pre-existing conditions and are older they will get more vaccinations. There is no evidence that there is genetic reason.

The 14-person panel (ACIP) which apparently makes recommendations to our CDC, chose 3 criteria in approving their "plan" for vaccine implementation: 1) Science, 2) [ease of] Implementation, and 3) Ethics [Social Justice].

The ended up voting on a 3-phase rollout:
    1) Healthcare workers and Long-term care residents
    2) Essential workers (They got priority because racial and minority groups are disproportionately represented in many essential industries).
    3) 65 years and older plus people with pre-existing conditions go last (Partly because there are more white people over 65, and that's not fair.)

So it's not just a simple matter that if you're black, you get to go first. If you're black and over 65 years old, with medical conditions (and you are not an "essential" worker) you also go last with the old white people.

They went pretty heavy on vaccine "Ethics" and pretty light on vaccine "Science".

    Vulnerabilities means HEALTH, not ethnicity.

Yep, (except for people in nursing homes) they put the most vulnerable dead last: Adults over 65 and adults with high-risk medical conditions.

You pray for weird things! Anyway blacks and Latinos are not being priotised over whites. The racist baiting OP is a lie which was shown in the first few pages of this thread and has no where to go. Ps the virus has been shown to have originated in Europe much to the disappointed of the covert racists who think they are clever in using racist terms for the virus

I didn't say thread topic. The topic that was in discussion was where the virus originated. It certainly was not on Chinese politics. if you want to comment on our discussion try and keep up. The answer is that evidence points to somewhere in Europe

If I understand your mentality, the "experts" are always correct, so do the "experts" have a consensus" that the virus originated in Europe?

I trust that, since you have decreed that this is the new thread topic, I've responded correctly rather than just asking why you couldn't start a thread on this new topic?

    Any number of reasons.
Bottom line, the elderly and certain minority are being hit harder. I'm sure the radical right media has their followers believing it's some conspiracy cooked up by the evil
'libs' to put down the white and right 'nationalists'.
But at the end of the day, at some point everyone will have a chance to get the vaccine or, stupidly, turn it down.
Guess which group will turn it down in greater numbers.

For the same reason that vitamin D supplements have been recommended. Lighter skin produces more vitamin D than darker skin under the same conditions. This was the conclusion that arose when the analysis of the Health Care workers who died in the UK took place - the majority were darker skinned

Any number of reasons?! Surely you can provide at least one reason then?

"For the same reason that vitamin D supplements have been recommended?!" Sorry but I am not following your comparison to explain why minorities are getting the vaccination ahead of white folks.

Your question was "If true why are minorities hit harder?"

Darker people have been seen to be more vulnerable than lighter people

I'm not asking for a list, just one will do. Not sure why you are getting so upset over this?

How do you figure I'm 'upset'?
This thread is FULL of reasons minorities are at higher risk, pick one for Christs sake, why do I or anyone else has to 'provide' you one??
READ the thread and pick one.

Are you serious? Not only did the china virus originate in Wuhan, China, they've narrowed down the lab it escaped from. The even concluded the china virus was brought to Wuhan because they were studying the virus in bats. And then there are the wet markets, remember them? Even CNN originally called it the Wuhan virus. And if, like you say, the virus originated in Europe, then why wasn't there a huge outbreak in those countries. Instead we saw thousands of deaths in Wuhan and heard stories about people being cremated while they were still alive. Do you remember any of that?

Do you call the china virus in Mexico the Lopez Obrador virus, or is your hateful bigotry contained to just Trump?
