What should the GOP's strategy be for the next 2 years?

Essentially they are cast into the wilderness until the midterms, the DNC now controlling the presidency, Senate and Congress. All they have left is the Supreme Court and I would imagine once Biden takes power the elder left wing members of Scotus will retire and let him appoint some younger replacements. So what should they do?

    1. Reconnect with Trump, keep him in the background, use the grass roots movement he has created whilst ditching his personal brand which is toxic to a lot of floating voters. Perhaps offer Jared and Ivanka seats?

    2. Really mount a massive campaign against press bias, both taking the media to task for it and maybe creating their own alternatives.

    3. Go after Latino and African American voters, Trump did surprisingly well with them and they may be the key to the future.

    4. Play the law and order card, the widespread protests and massive rise in violent crime will eventually create a backlash against the DNC and they should be ready to exploit it.

    5. Champion the rights of the victims of political correctness and point out the excesses of the progressive movement at every turn, linking them in the public mind to the wider DNC.

If the GOP wants to stay in the wilderness for years to come, then by all means stick with the Trumps.

My view: Ivanka's, Don Jr's and Kushner's political ambitions are over after what happened on Wed.

Who would you propose then? Does it even matter to you? At this point, do only folks who will protect the elite come to your mind?

Justices are appointed for life, not the whims or fancies of the politicians.

There are no left-wing justices. Only Republicans and Independents.

And, no. Not just SCOTUS. Republicans can still use the filibuster to stop Congress from accomplishing anything. Like they did during the Obama administration.

I'm pretty sure they (at least Jared) will be in prison. Maybe when he gets off. But I don't think many people will remember who he is by then.

Oh... there is no doubt about this. The press reports facts, and facts are not on the side of Republicans. So since they can't rebut the message, their only recourse is to attack the messenger.

They'll have to. They will represent a much bigger portion of the population. Especially when Puerto Rico becomes a state in a year or two. But Republicans are less likely to fool Hispanics into believing that Democrats are communists when they are in power and they can see that they're not with their own eyes.

That depends on how well Democrats are at controlling all the domestic terrorists that Trump has created.

Oh yeah... I forgot that Republicans were all against "political correctness" before they were in power. Because while they were in power they demanded that Democrats be "politically correct" with white supremacists and other right-wing extremists.

In answer to your question, I think the Republicans will filibuster filibuster filibuster. Get as little as possible done by filibustering every single bill, and then falsely claim that it was the Democrats' fault. The tactic worked for them in 2010. We'll see if it works again. But it's likely there will be four more Democratic Senators before 2022 (PR and DC). So it won't be as easy for the GOP.

    1) Come up with an actual platform. Turns out we need more than just "worship Trump."
    2) Honestly, I'd be happy for #1. No more requests from me at the moment.

In prison for what exactly? The bias of the media is surely more obvious than ever after the Capitol riots, the contrast in how it was reported compared to their toadying to BLM/Antifa thuggery. Trump didn't create domestic terrorists unless you consider Obama to have done the same? Which white supremacists and right wing extremists exactly?

You might be right in terms of the filibuster and the Dems attempting to put the fix in with DC/PR but that is likely to inflame the GOP base no end.

LOL! The Trumps ARE the elite.

But, to answer your question, I don't care who the GOP will hitch their wagon to next, as long as it doesn't involve the name Trump.

Give me a break..... the press said Trump would never ever be elected. They said they had absolute evidence of Russian Collusion. They called rioters "peaceful protestors as buildings burned in the background. Everyone is a racist according to them. They said the killing of our embassy soldiers in Benghazi was due to a film. They said the Hunter Biden lap top (which they concealed) was Russian disinformation. Shall I go on?

I would think the the TOP priorities for those that believe that there was significant voter fraud that impacted the outcome of the last elections is to:

    1. Identify and prosecute all those responsible for the criminal act.
    2. Expose to the American people details of how it was done and put measures in place to ensure it will never happen again.

If these 2 things are not done why would they even bother voting again. It would mean the fraudsters have a system beyond the detection ability of law enforcement and and all of the other people tasked to expose that fraud. They will simply do it again and again. Everything you mentioned in your list would be irrelevant.

I believe many are underestimating the ramifications of the events of January 6th. The breadth and depth of the investigations and implications to our political environment and governmental processes. This won’t be swept under the rug. It’ll be a demarcation point in our history.

I haven’t got a clue how the Republican Party will respond but it would likely be best to distance themselves from a faction within their constituency.

What should the gop do? -asks the OP, playing the same partisan games that caused a coup de etat.

Seriously not one mention of how the GOP is going to recover from their failed coup. They really can’t as they exist now. The first thing they need to do is purge their party of trump supporters or reign them in. They have to be willing to work with Democrats because... surprise! It turns out even neo-Nazis who are republicans don’t like other republicans who aren’t neonazis.

Both the GOP and Democratic Party are dead. GOP killed itself this week. Democrat demise will take only a little longer once whatever Biden voters were legitimate realize they were sold a crony corporatist-foreign special interest bill of goods. Wise Democrats should have begun retiring and grooming a new generation, not necessarily a very young one, but not old dinosaurs in politics for 40 years either. And hacks like Kamala Harris don't count as part of that new generation.

Likely outcome is a Third Party of very strange, previously disparate bedfellows once more of all stripes realize that the true political division in the U.S. is average middle class non Complex voters versus a gov-edu-union-contractor-grantee-trial lawyer-MSM Complex Aristocracy that has fooled and scammed ALL types of average Americans for decades.

It's harder to say what they should do, and easier to say what they shouldn't do. The Trump presidency was the first time since Herbert Hoover that we had a president lose the house, lose the senate, and lose reelection. What we've seen the past 4 years clearly isn't a winning strategy

What they'll need to do in order to win is likely find a new face and a new platform. The good news for the Republicans is they can nominate almost anyone else, and in comparison to Trump that person will look distinguished and competent

Do you really believe that? Don't you think the invisible "national interest" yoke will make that quite unlikely.

There will be a honeymoon period. But as the 2022 midterms approach... I don't think there is any other tactic they could use. Republicans have already made it clear too many times that their political interest comes before national interest. Just remember McConnell, in the middle of trying to recover from one of the worst financial crisis in our history, saying that their first priority was, not to help solve the crisis, but to make Obama a one-term President.

The GOP strategy for the next two years is simple - they need to get their heads out of Trump's ass ...
